Real Haunted House

School Nurse

Redlands, California

It is said that in this school a young girl died in the nurse’s office. Now, the entire grounds of the school are haunted by the little girl. Allegedly, the swings swing by themselves-even though the wind is calm. Sometimes, one may even hear a girl whispering to them on the playground. If anyone knocks on the door of the nurses office, it knocks back!

When i lived in California i went to a school named Rosa Parks, when i was in 2nd grade a girl had a doll that came to life and she was tired of it so she took it to the bathroom and killed it….the next day when a girl went in to the bathroom and saw the doll…then the doll appeared all over the school..this story is true because i knew the girl and i asked her if it was true and she only said to me “she was evil” and the girl was crying..and the schoool was built over an old cemetary…….

This can’t be true at all. I’m a Clairvoyant and have never experience a doll could come alive, but I’ve seen it on a cartoon. LOL!!! It could be true unless you make a as a voodoo doll w/a trapped evil spirit.

I attened that school. I have knocked when i attened i heard knocking back and ran. The thing about the swings is true too. I once was swinging on the swings and the one next to mine started swinging. I didn’t leave i just stared at it really freaked out as i swang back and forth. There wasn’t a breeze that day but every time i would swing on that swing I felt as if some one else was there with me. It could have been billy or the girl but who knows. I was anywhere from 7 to 9. And i am visting there again soon to see if billy or the girl is there and see if they trust me stil or if they ever did and if its the guy i might ask him out if possible (looner remeber that and it be cool to date a ghost or I would like to make him happy so hes spirt would be free)

This would actually be a little funny I think.

Little kid: *knocks on door*
Door: *knocks back*
Mom: What is it, honey?
Little Kid: Look Mom, the door knocks back! *knocks on the door, and nothing happens* FREAKIN’ KNOCK BACK!
Mom: Of course it knocks back, honey. *knocks on the door, door knocks back* Oh my gosh! *grabs daughter and runs away*
Little Kid: See Mama! I told you it knocks back!

I’m not saying I don’t believe it, but it’d be funny if this happened.

ok here is the story, back in the 50’s or 60’s, a lil boy, I don’t know if his name is Billy or not, was hit by a school bus, he was taken into the nurses office where he died. It is said that if you knock on the door to the nurses office he knocks back. Now here is my story I went there with about 5 other people last year, we knocked on the front door to the school and nothing happened then we hopped the fence and knocked on the nurses office and nothing happened so I can’t say if its true or not, but if you decide to go you should be careful because the cops are always around there.

I went to San Gorgonio HS in the late 80’s and I went with friends to the school in 87 We knocked and nothing happened…then as we left a few minutes later, the door knocked back….. we ran hard back to our cars… There was a car in the parking lot when we got there around 11pm. We went back with more people around 1am and knocked again…nothing happened…and the car was gone. I think the night custodial staff/school staff working late hours are behind all this.

This post is in reply of Jeannette’s comment below:

“I grew up in Redlands and have lived here for 43 years and my family has been here much longer than that.I attended Mariposa elementary school and I can tell you that this story is pure hogwash! No student has ever died at Mariposa this is purely made up.As for the Barton Mansion the alleged video tape and haunting is also BS.The Dr.Benjamin Barton mansion never was or is haunted-the Bartons lived long happy prosperous lives in Redlands…just because a home is big old and empty for a while doesn’t a haunting make-so in these two cases the facts dispute and don’t exist…

OK OK ENOUGH JEANETTE! First of all, everything you say is Hogwash! There was a death at Mariposa elementary school. Do your homework with the Redlands Unified School District. A Mr. Tolar, who taught sixth-graders at Mariposa in the early 1970s said the accident happened in 1972, the victim died on school grounds but wasn’t a Mariposa student and probably wasn’t named Billy as in the legend. What happened, Tolar said, was a boy between 8 and 11 years old came screaming down Puesta del Sol on a bicycle. The hilly road dead-ends at the elementary school, and the boy ran the stop sign and was hit by a truck. “We brought him into the office because he was so critical,” Tolar said. “The Fire Department came too late and just scooped him up.”

So there you go Mrs. 43 years in Redlands. You were probably too stoned in 72′ to remember what happened!

As for the Bartons, they did NOT have a “long, happy and prosperous lives in Redlands”. Dr. Barton was only at that house for a short time. He bought the property from the mormons when they were recalled to Salt Lake City in 1857, for the short-lived Utah War, and many were forced to sell their property at a price lower than they had purchased it. Barton bought the land for $2000. and started construction in 1859. There were 3 re-models that took a year at a time and the family would stay at their second home in San Bernardino. Barton started staying with his wife in San Bernardino in the late 1880’s and he died in 1899. Boy they were there for a long long time! Ha Ha. Do your homework moron! They mansion was built just to the north of the assistencia near or on the indian burial ground of the early 1800’s. Barton didnt care, he was a slave owner from South Carolina and all of this happened before the Civil War and the Emancipation Proclamation. There are several starnge happenings at the Mansion over the years, ask local Police Men or go to the “Smiley Library Heritage Room” in Redlands, CA and do research on the history of the mansion as I have. A lot has happened while you were stoned in the 70’s and now living in a glass bubble oblivious to what goes down in Redlands. Oh ya, Barton was a serious Free Mason that was into some secret society stuff that we probably would never want to know about! Thanks.

hey thrill seekers. I along with 5 friends including my brother went to Mariposa Elementry and we saw the door and knocked and did not hear a knock back instead the cops rolled uponed us and told us to leave and that it was all a myth and the cops told us tp spread the word to upcoming new thrill seekers to forget about it.sorry to let you all know this but the school have cameras and the cameras go direct to the Redlands police station and thats how the cops knew that we were there!:(

This place is for real people. Back in 1988 my and 7 friends went to Mariposa to see gor ourselves. We went in 4 brand new Toyota Trucks, all parked in a line in fron of the school. We knocked and heard the bed in the nurses office moving. Then we asked questions and asked the boy to knock once for yes, twice for no and did get responses. One of our friends looked in the windows and saw nothing and started banging on the door. Then as if someone behind the door kicked it with all the strength he had. We ran like hell, got in out trucks and none of them would start. We had to push start all of them! Too bad about the cameras there now. I’d love to expierence it again. Redlands P.D. and the school are covering up something that is real!

on and on i read your stories.
yes it’s true.
have been there so many times. the boy’s name is MICHAEL, and he will knock back. if you piss him off, he will POUND the window so that it rattles.

most of you should quit calling each other names.

if you had a great experience there – wonderful.
if you had no ghost knock back…try again. i’ve never had a time when he didn’t knock, repeatedly if asked to…

i live here in redlands , and im not sure about the haunting of mariposa school , i heard it was a boy not a girl, and my sister lived right across the street from the old barton house for 11 years , other than it looking scary , i can;t say they know of any ghost , but i will tell you this me and my daughter walk our dogs down orange st at night , and i know longer walk on the side of lugonia elementary , we were walking and there was no one behind us but wene walking we had to turn around quickly because it sounded like someone dragging a stick across the chain link fence , as we turned around a quick chill felt like it went through us , and im not sure what it was but it did scare me to death , you can believe it or not , but i know what i heard and felt . …Debbie
