Real Haunted House

School Nurse

Redlands, California

It is said that in this school a young girl died in the nurse’s office. Now, the entire grounds of the school are haunted by the little girl. Allegedly, the swings swing by themselves-even though the wind is calm. Sometimes, one may even hear a girl whispering to them on the playground. If anyone knocks on the door of the nurses office, it knocks back!

Can anyone give me some definite and legal properties in Redlands CA that our group can investigate? Where and what has been heard will be of great help too. Thanks to all!

I have heard several stories about this school. One being a boy hit by a bus (someone told me it was false since they do not move accident victims until paramedics arrive). The other story was that a young boy named ‘Billy’, who was mentally slow, was not being supervised and went to swing on the swings….he ends up either jumping or falling off and cracking his head on the cement that used to be around the swingset and supposedly bled to death in the nurses office.

Ive been to Mariposa quite a few times and have knocked on the infamous door. Most times we went between 2-3am. Strange things happened every time we knocked. We would hear desks shuffling and tapping on desks…ill never forget the time we were knocking and had our ears to the door when we heard (and felt) a LOUD bang like a door slam in the building. We never saw anything strange with the swings though…

Be careful if you go, the police are very quick to respond nowadays.

SMT, I just read your message after posting mine. I live in the smiley park district of Redlands and there is DEFINITELY activity at our residence. I rent with several others, but we would welcome an investigation as we have all had encounters of our own.

Activity includes: Typical everyday things being moved (some never found), doors opening and closing, shuffling noises heard, beds slumping down under weight as if someone had sat down, stairs creaking under weight at night. We have recently heard LOUD running/stomping footsteps upstairs as well as slow creaking across the floor (sounds like something really heavy is on it). I have felt things brush across my feet at night that wake me up out of dead sleep and my mother has been slapped by an invisible hand. Activity is increasing lately, and ive been sleeping downstairs! My mother was home alone the other night and heard upstairs noises. Running followed by a loud thud above her….she proceeded to sleep in the car for the night haha.

Anyways, it would be AMAZING to have this professionially looked into! I check my email constantly, please write me! dertydata at gmail! Thanks!

I wonder why i never heard this story and i grew up in Redlands, Mentone and Yucaipa Area. I went to schools in all three towns. I just remember the walk down to the river that is no longer there in Mentone by the boys home always had a weird feeling to it though. I always came across snakes (which has nothing to do with ghost i know) and at night it felt like something was following you and watching you.

It’s a boy ghost. Not a girl. And I KNOW this story is true…and I have the pics to prove it.

Here is my story of what happened to us in the Summer of 1989 at Mariposa School in Redlands, CA. (This is an absolute TRUE account of these events exactly as they happened) I had heard the story of the little boy and convinced some buddies from work to drive us up there one night after closing at what used to be The Wherehouse music/video on Orange St. I couldn’t wait to scare them as I was a skeptic non-believer. Before we even
got up there, a girl that was with us began to feel scared and very uncomfortable. I asked her what was wrong and she said, “We need to turn around and go back.” I asked her why and she said,”He doesn’t want us to go up there.” I laughed and asked, “Who?” She became still and scared like I have never seen. We arrived and talked her into coming with us to
the Nurses’ Office. She didn’t want to be alone in the car in the lot, so she joined us. We were stupid and naive kids back then. I was the first to knock on the window. Nothing. The other guys began to laugh and giggle and
after they finally shut up, I knocked again…It sounded like someone had picked up a desk and set it down gently. Everyone heard it. My buddies told me to knock again as it was probably the janitor hiding, etc. We had checked the entire parking lot and even walked the halls of the school-Nobody was working late or hiding out anywhere. It was around 12:30am.
I tapped on the window. Nothing. The jack-*** of the group then began pounding with both fists on the glass and yelling,”Billy!Come on outa there, you little *******!” The other fools really thought that was funny
until at least three of us saw a tall, black shape walk slowly past the bulletin board inside of the Nurses’ Office. When I say tall, I mean it had to have been at least 6’6″. It was not a little boy. It was a dark entity of some kind. We ran as fast as we could back to the car and as we were running, the ones who hadn’t seen it stayed behind to hear a loud crash from inside the Nurses’ Office. That did it. They also ran back to the car. We took off and the poor girl who wanted to go back was crying she was so scared. None of us spoke on the way back. I remember one kid saying a few days later, “That wasn’t some old time clock…”
I can’t explain what I saw that night. I’ve never been back since. I’m getting chills right now as I type this. It is true. The experience changed my life. I want to share my story as the truth. It is also true
that Redlands,CA has been listed by professional paranormal scientists as one of the most haunted places in the United States.

I lived on Cajon St., Redlands,CA. from 1965-1975. Attended Mariposa School the first year it opened, & 2 additional years until the new Kingsbury School was completed. I do not recall any ghost stories, though we were always WARNED to stay out of the orange groves. Loved the Edwards Mansion and remember when it was cut in half & moved down Cajon St. in the early 1970′s. What a site to see a huge, Victorian home in two sections.
Spent countless hours at Kimberly Crest traversing through bamboo woods & orange groves, which was forever enchanting w/the Shirk Home which is now open to the public. Redlands was a charming hometown, many happy memories. In memory of Tom Huffman, 1962-2004, my dearest childhood buddy.

Some friends and I experienced this about 16 years ago, and to this day it is the only thing that has ever happened to me that keeps me interested in the paranormal. We went to the office at around 3 am, and there was no explanation for the clear knocking I heard as it answered yes or no questions. When we walked along side the office an air conditioning unit started up very loudly, we thought nothing of it until it instantly turned off as we walked away. We communicated with the entity for about an hr by way of yes or know questions. And it answered every one of our questions with a knock. I don’t know if it’s a ghost of a human or some other entity, but what I witnessed was 100% real. We traveled a few hrs to reach the school and I’m convinced there is no chance it could have been a hoax. My feelings have only been reinforced now that ive heard how so many people have witnessed the same thing i did. I’ve since moved away and I have always wanted to go back and explore the phenomenon more.

Throught my teen years I often visted the old school with various groups of friends and experianced many paranormial circumstances. One late night with four of my friends we gathered on the field furthest from the office door. Filing across the field we reached the nurses door, as we approached we saw the offices’ blinds move gently as if someone were peeking out. I stepped forward among the group and knocked on the door, nothing had knocked back and there were no present noises coming from inside the little room as we held our ears to it. When from within the outdoor hallway we were standing in an echoed whistle rang through the halls in a creepy child like tune. I looked all my frineds in the eyes for what felt like a half second. When we realized none of us were making the eerie whistle we sprinted across the field. I have gone back since and have abtained many more storie such as this.

Went to school there as a child spent many nights there never once heard or saw any of the stuff you guys are mentioning. I only have happy memories of the school and the story about the boy getting run over was true but he died in the street in front of the school not in the office and im pretty sure it was his fault because he was not paying attention and rode right into a car sooooooooo…… anyway i love the school good times!! :)

I grew up in san bernardino. One night i go with my boyfriend and another girl to a park in redlands. This park is beautiful and big, right next to UCR. I never heard any ghost stories. i had heard of gates of hell, but that’s it. My boyfriend and I felt the presents of ghosts, i saw a ghost, and felt someone tap on my sholder as if to get my attention. Ever sense then i was curious about Redlands and the ghosts. I have heard many stories sense then. There is supose to be a bike rider that goes through the town at night. I have a freind that lives past prospect park and every time i drive past i get that feeling like in dreams when you are trying to run but you can’t. I’ve felt ghosts my hole life and i have to say, redlands ghosts are very scary. Bad things must have happened there.

This is real….. Call me crazy if you want but I have been going there and knocking on the office door for 20 years since I was 17 years old. He will knock back. I have also heard the swings move, looked around but did not see the swings. Real crazy… We have also seen the blinds move and the windows shake.

Here is the REAL story. His name was Scotty. He was playing at the school yard after school hours. He fell backwards off the swing and broke his neck. He drug himself to the office and banged on he door for help. But there was nobody there to help him. He died at the door. This happend in the 60′s if I remember correctly.

The school is Mariposa, in Redlands, CA. Its on Paolo Alto St, Dr., whatever it is…but anyway. I am 12 years old and I went there for 6 years for Elementary. I can tell you that it isnt shut down ad is running smoothly. I have never tried the “knocking on the nurses office door” trick, but my 23 yr old sister went there with a friend a while back at night…they ran to the swings and they were swinging already. No wind. In 2nd grade, a cameraman and a star on the show “Most Haunted” came to our school and interviewed Mrs.Hodges, the teacher who has worked there the longest. She said she doesnt know what to believe…to settl your arguments.. and also a boy named Billy died outside of school hours, but he was on campus. He got hit by a car when he was riding his scooter around mariposa. That is what I heard and you can believe whatever but take it from someone who just got out of that place 1 year ago…[: Good luck on your investigation!
