Second Story Window
The daughter of a prominent Henderson citizen lived in this house until she jumped from one of the second story windows to her death. Today, on the anniversary of her suicide, her face is seen in the window and her screams are often heard.

You guys are SO off, lol. I live 2 blocks away from this home, and I don’t know about this story, but I do know that when Henderson was “Little Chicago”, this home was owned by Bugs Moran (yes, the gangster). It is one of the most beautiful homes in Henderson, and the ONLY face I have seen on the front of the home is a carved face that is ornamental and SUPPOSED to be there! Also to the child that says it’s by McDonald’s you are wrong. This home is on CENTER street almost on the corner of Ingram and Center. McDonald’s is on the corner of GREEN and WASHINGTON. The only things right across the street from McDonald’s is a fire station, and an old church that is currently for lease, and the pink house behind the church, which is home to a sweet darling woman, just beware her attack flamingo, lol!
There is a home right across 2nd street from Holy Name church that is haunted. It used to be a bridal and formal wear store in the late 90′s (1998) Becky Stone owned it. I used to live there upstairs. Currently it is supposed to be a second hand furniture store/good will type place, but they are hardly ever open.
Before all that though, it was a funeral home, and you can still smell the formaldehyde in the back stairs going from the downstairs kitchen (old embalming room) to the kitchen upstairs. It REEKS! But it hasn’t been a funeral home in YEARS. Also there is the ghost of a young black boy that haunts the back hall/doorway/bathroom. He will lock and unlock the back door, lights flicker, and you can be locked in the bathroom down there, and unable to get out.
When you walk into the front door, looking ahead to the stairs there is a doorway at the stair landing, and I have not met one person that doesn’t feel 110% compelled to RUN from that doorway as fast as they can. It’s a run for your life kinda feeling and even my Dad felt it when he visited me during the day time. Going upstairs are 3 bedrooms a bathroom LV and kitchen with enclosed stairs going down to the back part of the house. The first bedroom closest to 2nd st was haunted by a ghostly woman crawling across the floor. I was told that she died of a heart attack during the night and was crawling to help when she died in that room.
The middle bedroom has a huge dark grey/black figure that stays in it. Women felt no ill will from the entity, but most men feel anger and malice directed towards them. The 3rd bed room I had no encounters with, but the spirit there tormented my roommate. His clothes would be tossed around, CD’s upturned, his bd moved in the middle of the night without waking him, and he was always turned to face the windows.
The stereo would turn itself on and off, as well as the TV and computer. Also the CD player would play CD’s that were not even in the player. Eventually, the last person to live in the home was so shaken, he slept in his car outside rather than in the home.
I know all of this to be true, since I did live there during this time.

I have been interested in this house ever since i was 8 yrs old. I’ve heard the stories and i believe it. Something pulls me to this house. I don’t know what it is. You can go to the library and pull up info about it. Bugs Moran never owned it. He was wanted by the FBI. He rented the third floor and they came in and pulled him and his girlfriend out by their ankles. This house it gorgeous on the inside. I would give anything to own it. About the girl, I don’t know. I know the story and everything but I haven’t seen anything. I still do believe it. I love this house. There’s nothing that creeps me out or scares me about it. It’s so much more than just a ghost story. There is so much history there and i would love to know much more about it. Maybe one day it will be mine.

Total fabrication. I grew up in this neighborhood and one of my pals lived in the house. I have been all over this house and there is nothing scary or creepy about the house. It is just a classic Victorian house, and no ghosts. I heard all of these stories. The only notworthy thing that happend was the Chicago Gangster Bugs Moran was captured while living in one of the apartments.

When i was a child we use to walk past this house every school day, we even walked an extra block out of the way just to see this house and the only reason i walked by it was i seen a little girl at that window and no one ever believed me.

I am not so sure about this one. I think it is an Urban Legend kind of thing because the way I heard was that the girl (young lady) was to be married abd on the day of her wedding a huge storm came. Well she was in her room and was standing out the window cursing God for bringing this storm and she was struck by lightening and killed instantly. Her image was seen in the glass. They changed the glass and boarded it up but her image still shows up.

My grandparents are the owners of this house (bought it around ’97) and I lived in the third floor apartment for a few years. I also have wandered the house at night and I have never seen or heard anything out of the ordinary.
The house was built in 1892 by the Barrett family of Henderson, and it is rumored that it was the daughter of Mr. Barrett that jumped out of the window. To stand in the same room where she supposedly jumped is chilling, but like I said I’ve never seen anything ghostly nor has anyone in my family.
I would love to answer any questions about the house so please feel free to ask!

I live in Henderson and the day my grandmother died, me, my cousins, and a few friends stepped out of the funeral, supposedly, this house is by that funeral home. We went to check it out. As I went close to the house, nearest the front door, I felt something odd about the house. I felt goosebumps and kinda cold. As for the screams or seeing the girl in the window we never heard or saw anything, but according to most of the people that I’ve asked about the girl committing suicide they said it is true. But the presence I felt around the house was scary.
