Haha, I’ve heard that exact same story all of my life and I’ve driven by that house at least once a week every week. I’ve actually heard that there isn’t even a room up there, that the window was merely decorative and it’s now boarded up. I don’t personally believe that because ‘Why would you have a ‘decorative’ window???’

Actually, the story is the girl (killed) was forbidden to attend a dance at her school by her parents (the current caretakers of the cemetary) on a particular night of bad weather. she returned to the room upstairs and cursed (either her parents or god; depending on the source) and was zapped by lightning. I am from the area in Kentucky where the house stands and this is the story as told to/by locals.

have you had someone in there place i can talk to the girl(killed). maybe she could tell you the real truth on what happened. and who she was cussing at the time she died. i understand the story told by the locals. i am not from the town where the house is. i had drove by the house on many occsions. sorry for the bad spelling. does anyone even know her name? well i shared my opinion. Might want to consider that if you beleave in people like that. well it wouldn’t hurt if you know what i am trying to say. it might shed light on a lot of things with the story and what really happened.

Hello, I live in Dunmore KY about 20 miles from Russelville. I drive by the Sexton House all the time traveling down 431 to TN and have seen the boarded up window in the attic. It has been boarded up for a long time but I can remember when it wasnt when I was in school. I have heard the same story as you all but that the shadow can only be seen whenever it is lightning. I have never seen the shadow in the window painted board or not but I havent been there while it was lightning either. Its a creepy old house and if its not haunted it should be. Bobby

There are no stairs in the house. Slept in the house many times with nothing weird about it. My best friends father was the sexton for many years and lived in the house.

I used to live in Russellville right by this house, and me and my cousins would always walk around the cemetery by this house at night just to freak ourselves out! But yes, like Chloe said, the man died in the kitchen after he supposedly “heard a noise and went to investigate” -of course, that’s by word of mouth. I honestly do not think that God himself would strike a human- an angry teenage girl in specific- dead because they cursed his name. But hey, she was going to go when she was going to go. I also disagree with the used phrase “God must still be angry!” If you knew anything about the bible, or God himself, he forgives and is merciful beyond our imaginations. Saying that is disgraceful and disrespectful. Yes, the image of the girl was able to be seen, and it was very quite eerie. I think the evidence of the supernatural really hit all of the non-believers in the face when the image still showed through the paint. If that doesn’t prove it, then nothing will. I do beleive in spirits and the supernatural, and I do have pity on this young, young, girl- her life had just begun, and she was taken at a time of hostility, not happy and peaceful like deserved. All in all, the Sexton house is very interesting. And I feel awesome to say that I was in the community at the time of this and got to experience it. It’s real, people, it’s real.

I have been to this house. I have seen the shadow of the girl in the window before they boarded them up. I have seen the imprint of the girl on the wood (maybe it was an aporition)but she was there! And to read that the person living in the home passed away in the home of a heart attack sends chills down my spine!!!! I believe this spirit will now dwell there as well.
