Slaughterhouse (Luana’s Canyon)
During the gold rush days of the 1800’s, a gold miner and his family lived a small wood shack along a dry wash in the heart of the canyon. Via mule, the husband would venture into the Northwestern Mountains in search of gold, returning semimonthly with food for his wife Luana and their young children. One month, however, the gold miner did not return. Soon, supplies ran out and the children began to starve. Luana, not able to tolerate the sight of her starving children, lost her mind. During a thunderstorm, she put on her wedding dress and chopped her children up into several pieces. Luana went to the river and tossed the remnants down stream. Luana returned the next morning and crying for the return of her children she died. It is said that on certain nights the her wailing may be heard from within the canyon’s walls.

I forgot that I had posted to this site awhile back, so I figure its only appropriate to post a follow up.
In November of last year, a couple of weeks after my post, the Wife and I went out to Slaughterhouse Canyon, to investigate for the paranormal.
Please Remember, If you are going out to this area, be respectful of the private houses and property in the canyon. It also appears that the old Slaughterhouse has finally been taken down, as it was on private property.
The wife and I went out to Slaughterhouse Canyon in late November of 2009, between the hours of Midnight and 3am. There was no wind all night, until we went to leave. The temperature was in the low 40’s to upper 30’s. Humidity was 27%, kind of high for around here.
We parked along side the road near the flat rock and began an EVP session, and taking photos. After about an hour and a half, we moved up to were an old powder house is located, but stayed on the main road, and conducted another hour and a half of pix and an EVP sessions.
Be aware that the train does transit past the north end on the canyon many times a day at all hours and can ruin EVP’s.
After reviewing all photo’s we found nothing on the photo’s that we could say was paranormal, however there were 19 EVP’s and 3 odd sounds that we could not account for.
Most of the EVP’s appear to be directly related to our questions we asked, or a comment to our discussion. As for the reported moaning sounds, when the wind came up, as we were getting ready to leave, the wind made strange sounds amongst the rock walls and hills in this area. Also, it will cause small rock falls that will get your attention.
All in all, we had a very productive investigation, what with it being our first time, in Slaughterhouse Canyon.

Not the story I heard, my family has been in kingman for over 6 generations. My great great grandma had a small goat farm in slaughterhouse canyon. I have heard different stories that seem more realistic then this one. There used to be an Indian camp in the canyon. And I had heard that Luana was an Indian lady who’s kids had become sick and died, she went crazy and killed herself. I don’t believe the story I was told but it sounds better then the one on this site.

Cherish’s story is actually true. It happened once. I dunno about the haunted house, but there was a woman who locked her children in thier car seats and then let the car roll into a lake so she could keep her boyfriend. I DON’T SEE WHY ADOPTION ISN’T AN OPTION!!!!
