Spontaneous Combustion
This house is said to be haunted by two men, a woman, and a child — arsonists who killed a total of six people through their blazes. Today, the house is known to randomly burst in to flames, though no damage is sustained. There are also cold spots and strange odors. Some have even been pushed down the stairs while in the house alone.

This House may be in Iowa, I’m not too sure myself, I’ve heard of it(I’m a fan of slipknot and corey taylor whos the lead singer says as a child he has entered the house with friends and heard voices) So I’m not too sure, but Iowa is my best guess.

The black angel is in Iowa City, not Council Bluffs. Interesting stories behind it. I’ve been there, I’ve even touched the angel, that was 3 years ago. I’m still standing. Nothing bad has happened. Also, Villisca is the site of an axe murder. 8 died there. 6 from the Moore family and two young girls staying over night from the Stillinger family. 2 adults, 6 children in all. They do have overnight tours that you can do, but the person above is correct, you don’t get your money back. Also an intersting place, great history, but nothing happened when I was there.

address…I do believe in “ghosts”, and I do
live in DM, but hav`ent heard of this house..But I`ve heard of the ‘House of Ladders” years ago, it was located southeast of the airport, and the Finkbine
manion just NW of Central Campus (old Tech high)is supposed to be haunted!,..also at Meral Hay Mall, a small office tower is said to be haunted by a nun!
There was an awful murder that happened in
Feb. 1991 at a house on se9th and Fremont, where a mother and her daughter were beat to death by the daughter`s former boy friend! …and I wonder if that`s haunted!!
There`s GOTTA be Many other haunted places in DesMoines!!

Hey if anyone lives near Viola, Iowa check out Matsell’s bridge, I’m not for sure the history behind it. But you go out there turn your car off and then just turn it on so your radio plays, put your car in netural and wait. Your car gets pushed by some kids that died on the bridge. Also put baby powder on your trunk so when you leave the bridge you can see the handprints. I just did this two days ago and we were in a black car and there were handprints on the trunk and on the passanger door and up towards the top of the roof. Let me know of any other haunted places out there. MATSELLS BRIDGE IS FOR REAL THOUGH!!

IN 2002 I MOVED TO BOONE IOWA TO LIVE WITH MY DAUGHTER AND HER FOUR KIDS. THE HOUSE THAT SHE WAS LIVING IN WAS A TWO STORY HOUSE IN WEST BOONE AT THE END OF TOWN. THE FIRST NIGHT I WAS THERE I WAS A SLEEP ON THE SOFA AND I HEARD SOMEONE KNOCKING ON ALL THE WINDOWS AROUND THE FIRST FLOOR. I YELLED FOR MY DAUGHTER TO SEE IF IT WAS A FRIEND OF HERS MESSING AROUND OUT SIDE. SHE OPENED THE WINDOW TO SEE IF SHE SAW ANYTHING OUT SIDE OR NOT.IT HAS SNOWED ALL DAY THAT DAY IT WAS IN FEB. THERE WAS’T EVEN FOOT PRINTS IN THE SNOW? A COUPLE OF DAY’S LATER I WAS IN THE LIVING ROOM AGAIN THERE WAS A ROOM ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE HOUSE A BEDROOM RIGHT BY THE FROUNT DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD RADDLE WILDLY ON IT’S OWN AND WHEN EVER YOU WENT IN THAT ROOM IT WAS FREEZING COLD YOU COULD SEE YOUR BREATH AND THE REST OF THE HOUSE WAS WARM. THIS WAS HAPPENING A COUPLE TIMES A DAY. MY GRANDKID WOULD FREAK AND SCREAM AND CRY. I GOT SO ANGRY ONE NIGHT I WENT IN THERE AND STARTED TO SCREAM LEAVE THEM A LONE (THE GRANDKIDS )ABOUT A MOUNTH LATER MY COUSIN FROM DE MOINES CAME TO VISIT US AND STARTED TO TAKE PICTURES OF MY DAUGHTER AND I AND AND IN ONE OF THE PICTURES YOU COULD SEE A WINDOW BEHIND OUR HEADS AND IN THE PICTURE WAS A IMAGE OF MY DAUGHTERS FATHER WHO HAD BEEN KILLED A YEAR EARLIER DOWN THE ROAD FROM THE HOUSE. MY DAUGHTER THINK HE CAME BY TO SAY HELLO TO ME. BUT IT WAS DISTURBING COOL BUT DISTURBING.

In reference to the Black Angel earlier, she is a statue in Council Bluffs, Iowa and was put in a cemetery overlooking the town and the city of Omaha, Nebraska. The reason the statue is there is that it is a “vision” that Mrs. Dodge (of the Dodge family whom were prominate in the 1800’s) had when she was on her death-bed. She told her daughter of a dream that she had of an angel on the bow of a boat coming across a lake. The angel motioned for Mrs. Dodge to come with her, that it was her time to “cross over”. In the angel’s hand was a dish of some sort (reason or relevence is unknown). Mrs. Dodge reportedly woke from the dream stating that she didn’t go with the angel. Her daughter said to her that she should have so the next night, Mrs. Dodge went to sleep and never woke from her slumber. The daughter decided that the angel had an impact on her mother’s ease of suffering, so they had a statue of the angel made as her mother had described and put it in the cemetery as a memorial to her mother. Local kids from COuncil Bluffs, Iowa and surrounding areas in Nebraska like to go to the cemetery near the lookout point where the Louis and Clark expedition marked during their surveys along the Missouri River. The legend is that you were place a penny in the dish of the statue of the angel and walk 100 paces way from her, turning your back. Once you go back to the statue, you were supposed to look in the dish and if your penny was gone, you were going to have bad things befall you. Of course, this is legend only. I know of none of us silly teenagers that have had a penny taken by any spirits, however, the ambiance that surrounds the statue itself is ominous at best. The reason the statue is black is due to her being made of brass. Weather and time cause a reaction to the surface turning it black. The cemetary surrounding her dates back to the Oregon trail passage, and is said to be haunted prior to the placement ot the statue.

I don’t care if there is a haunted place in Des moines or not but if you guys wanna see some scary **** go to west liberty iowa. by the WL foods factory there is an old train station which is so haunted you all need to see it and if you wanna be scared shitless check out the house accross it it’s about 150 years old when me and my friends went in there you could hear someone coming up the stairs from the basemet but when me and my friends checked it stopped and that’s when you could hear someone screaming in the attic the weird thing was that it’s still up for sale. the whole reason why it’s haunted was cause a young girl was hanged in the basemet and the guy who killed her decided to hang himself as a cover up as i’m typing this i am holding a cross that’s how scared i am. Check out west liberty for some scary ****

i’ve lived here all my life and not once have i heard of this house. i am a psychic child. i do see the dead and can communicate. i dont read fortunes but do visit the cemetary downtown. that is one of the haunted places i’ve been to. my house is also haunted by a man, woman and child who have no connection. but at the cemetary a woman from the late 1800’s walks around with her husband. when i visit suprisingly she waves.

The house is on Hickman Road, in Des Moines. I can’t give the address, as the owner doesn’t want a bunch of wanna-be ghost hunters bothering her.
Comment by William | 10.27.2006 | 6:37 pm
Ok, I’ve lived in Des Moines all my life. I have never ever heard of such a place. And William, you say it’s on Hickman Rd…… ha no, I don’t think so!
I’m sure that I’m older than the majority of you people so I’ve seen alot and heard alot about this city and there is no such house. Now, the house in Villisca,IA, I’ve heard about! I do recall hearing about the ax murders of a family. Don’t believe EVERYTHING you hear.
Comment by Teri | 10.27.2006 | 10:21 pm
Any reason why you doubt me, Teri? Like I said, the house mentioned in the above posts is on Hickman. Simple as that. I’ve been in the place but saw nothing unusal. As for Villisca—well, that’s another place, another story. As far as I’m concerned ghosts are nothing more than one’s own guilt. As I’m sure you know, there’s not one shred of documented evidence to support the existance of ghosts. If you think I’m wrong, please enlighten the world with your evidence. We’re waiting.
Comment by William | 10.28.2006 | 7:57 am
give it up people-theres no burning house!!
Comment by kelly | 10.30.2006 | 3:20 pm
Your all dumb too cause if there was a house that just burst into flames you think people would be talking about it. Let me enlighten you all about how to find it. Do a search on arson and look up previous records find out any info about arson cases in De Moines. At that point you can narrow down your search for te house to only the ones about arson cases and even more by finding out how many victims they had and such.
Comment by Robby | 11.1.2006 | 5:41 am
I was born and raised in Des Moines. I have never heard of this burning house but there are plenty of haunted areas. I have had 3 major haunts in my 27yrs. All three were in Norwoodville Iowa. Norwoodville is a very economically poor area it has always been. I think in the late 1850’s the entire area was a mining town, which is what the name Norwoodville comes from. These mines are now capped but you can visit the sites of these caps and that is where my ghost story begins.
I was maybe 14 years old the day after Christmas my cousin and I decided to go “down to the tracks” to ice skate. This was not only a stupid idea because there is very little frozen water down there but also because we didn’t tell our parents and the ice could have been thin. When we arrived at the tracks, which are just far enough in the woods you can’t see the road you just came from, my cousin began to put on his skates. I remember I was looking into a tunnel that runs under the tracks to allow for four mile creek drainage and as i did I heard voices. This I at first wrote off as nothing, so I kept quiet until I turned around and looked at my cousin who had froze in place. Before I could speak another word we both heard children laughing at us, all over the place, niether of needed to speak a word we ran as fast as we could out of the woods back to his house, I have never went back down there.
The second haunting took place at my cousins house. It is well over one-hundred years old, having had many additions to it over the years it appears fairly modern but it is not. This house like other was just like the one described by the original poster, two story, basement that has a very low ceiling and a huge cut out that was dirt floor, I never entered there it was dark and frieghtening. Most of the haunting that occured in the house consisted of footsteps. At night usually when you were sitting down stairs you could hear someone walk all the way down to the main floor and then back up, which I realize is extremely scary but this was. One night my cousin and I had fallen asleep downstairs in the living room. I remember I woke up suddenly for know appearent reason. I then looked over at my cousin to make sure I wasn’t alone since it was black as pitch. After I assured myself that I was safe I turned my head and looked down over my feet and as I raised my eyes I seen something I will never forget. I green orb the size of a light balb was hovering near the ceiling about ten feet from me. I don’t know how long I looked at it but it scared me so bad that the only thing I could think to do was to put my head under the covers and go back to sleep which is what i did.
I have many more stories from the area but the last one I will tell didn’t happen to me but to two separate people I consider my friends. The first person Scott, the most skeptical unbelieving person you would ever encounter, came knocking on my parents door when I was still living at home. It was midnight but he knew I would be up because I have always been a nightowl. I knew something was up because he wasn’t talking much which was odd. Eventually he said, “You’ll never believe what I did tonight.” Apprently Scott was upset over a some arguement so he decided to go for a walk. Norwoodville doesn’t have street lights so the only place to walk to is either the school or the community center. So he went to the community on broadway around 11pm. He told me he was sitting on top of a slide just thinking when he said something caused him to look into the tunnel slide, he formerly had his back to it, when he looked into it he saw nothing but the bottom but instantly a voice yelled “GET OUT OF HERE!”, he immidiately assumed it was anyone of the ignorent people who live in the area and responded by saying “LEAVE ME THE F@$# ALONE!” he told me he wasn’t sure of anything at this point except for the voice caught him off guard until a moment later, he said, I will do my best to decribe this, the voice whispered in his ears, I did say ears because it was in stereo, as if it was on both sides of his head. It said, “Leave now” so he said he got up went down the slide and ran to my house.
Years later another friend who knew nothing of the other story was shooting hoops late at night, this sounds odd but we did this together often, he says he remember letting the ball go when he heard from every direction, again a king of speaker effect, “GO NOW!” so he got his ball and called me one his cell to tell me the story, this happened at the community center in Norwoodville, Iowa…a township of des moines on broadway.
Hope these were of interest, it you want to go to the tracks they are located on NE29th street, just south of the brigde the interstate runs over, the caps can be heard to find they are usually located 20 feet from the tracks to the north. The house is still family owned so I am not going to say where it is located. Questions.. cbg001@drake.edu
Comment by CBG | 11.6.2006 | 12:06 am

Hello all. Well, as for the Des Moines house bursting into flames… I have no clue. It sounds like urban legend to me. Seems like someone is having to much fun with the story and lights the place up. Anyhow, I do however know about the Villisca House. I live only 30 minutes from there in sw Iowa. The murders occurred on June 10, 1912. Yes, the entire J.B. Moore family and two other children were murdered. Joe (Josiah), Sarah, Herman, Katherine, Boyd and Paul Moore. Also, Lena and Ina Stillinger were children staying overnight with the family. I believe all of those mentioned are buried in the Villisca cemetary. I do know for sure that the Stillinger sisters are buried side by side there. The house does offer tours given by the current owner Darwin Linn of Villisca, who renovated the home to the state inwhich it was in in 1912. He can also tell you many first-hand stories as well as those told by others. There is also a book out that people can buy and I know a small movie company out of Atlantic, Iowa has also made a documentary type movie that was shown at our local theater. There are also many, many, many websites that speak of this event.

I’m a lead investigator for a paranormal research group called OSPRI which is based in Olathe Kansas. I’ve been on several investigations both of private and public places. When I’ve been on these investigations you always go into with a skeptical mind. I’ve been to houses in which people claim to hear voices and things get moved around. Then when you start to look around the house you find pot seeds in the ash tray or bongs laying out. I’ve also been to houses were people claim to see ghosts but after closer inspection of the house I found a flue off the hot water tank and Carbon Dioxide was leaking into the house. This is orderless and can cause people to see things and even death. But I have been on a few that can’t be explained away. Such as taking a photo of a empty closet and after reviewing the picture I caught two what appear two children coming out the closet in this orange mist that were not there. Then when investigating a bar were two people had died I caught the image of a old man coming out of the wall.
Then also countless Evp’s of any of you even need help don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me.

The bridge in Viola is a Lie. Went there countless times at night on roadtrips. I sat there for over 10 mins and nothing happened. I wanted to see some ghosts push my 8000lb truck across the bridge…Nothing, the only handprints we’re from me opening and closing the tailgate so I could feed our cows earlier in the day…….BS

Comment by kelsie | 09.30.2007 | 11:49 pm
As far as the address of said house, I do not know. I think this was a rental property a few blocks away frm St John’s Catholic Church and around the corner was a 7 Eleven. The reason I think this is because when I was about 7 we lived in a big three story house with double dorm windows on the third floor in the center of the block. I went to St John’s as did my siblings. When we moved into downtown DM (my dad who was a truck driver could not afford much and there were 5 children plus him and his wife) The house was grand in every respect a big 3 level floor plan with the oak staircase that zigzagged back and forth. Several things happened in this house. The first happened about a month after we moved in. My dad was standing at the bottom of the steps ( yelling a my brother) and his big craftsman rollaway tool chest just started down the steps on it’s own. It was on the 2nd floor landing to be out of the view from would be theifs. My dad barely got out of the way. He suffered a concussion.
The second incident happened 3 months after we moved in. My oldest sister and I shared a bedroom, in the middle of the night I awoke and glanced over at her bed, I remember seeing a glow around her bed and the indentation of someone sitting on her bed. I screamed and my step mother came rushing in and turned on the light, it was gone. I had to sleep with a night light for many years after this.
The third incident was more hurtful than any other and caused us to move immediately. My brother had the third floor all to himself and it was spring time, He decided to open the dormer windows to let in some fresh air and as he was doing so, he says he felt a chill and was rethinking the opening of the windows, when something pushed him out the window. Thankfully he landed on the overhang of the poarch, he had 3 broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder along with countless brusies and cuts. My dad said THat’s it we are moving. Many years later, when I was 20 or so my dad told me that he researched the history of the house and a little girl died on the third story in the 1900’s in a fire. So that is why the house you all speak of is the one I think I lived in when I was a girl. So the location would be approx 6 blocks awy from St John’s Cathedrel in Downtown DM. I have never even driven by the house since we lived there but I remember it as if it were yesterday.
Comment by Gina Christensen | 10.2.2007 | 2:23 pm
I have been in a house on the north side of DM,and as i was sleeping in the front room of this place, when I woke up after hearing footsteps on the front porch, went to look out the window ,not seeing anything i was puzzeled, when i felt what i thought was my nephew walk up beside me and ask what i was looking at?not looking yet- i started to answer when i turned to look at him, there was nothing there,I got my gun and went looking through all of the house there was nobody to be found,my nephew was asleep in his room,it was strange

I have lived in Des Moines for 58 years, and NO ONE in this city that I know of, and I know a LOT of people in this city, have EVER heard of this house. It does NOT exist , and HAS NEVER existed. More ignorant stories put out by ignorant people. The “house of ladders” really DID exist. It was NOT haunted or anything of the kind. It was on County line road on the southeast corner of County line an Fleur Drive. They were dirt roads at the time. The elderly gentleman and his family who lived there had a small home repair business, and he would just lay his ladders up against the side of the house until they were needed. Nothing “haunted ” or scary about the place. I am still surprised about how these persistent and false stories abound around here. There is NOT or has NEVER been one single piece of fact or proof other than “my cousin’s sister’s boyfriend heard it from his great grandfather. Come on, be real here.

Theres a haunted house out in the woods in Des Moines which is apparently haunted, not sure where n **** coz i lik in Australia. but it is in the slipknot video clip for “Left Behind” this is an actual haunted house in the video.
Comment by ben | 10.16.2007 | 3:37 am
I have read about that house with spontaneous fires. It’s located on Grand Ave near the Salsbury house? If you kids are interested in all this stuff, when I was younger I read a book called the “National Haunted Directory” or something of that sort. I don’t know where it is at now , but it’s worth looking up. It pretty much answers all the questions I’ve seen posted here.
Comment by Sarah | 10.16.2007 | 5:06 pm
I have lived in Des Moines all of my life and have never heard about a haunted house associated with fires. I have read a lot of books about hauntings in the area and that one does not ring a bell, but that don’t mean anything. My house could be haunted, and was investigated by D.I.E.P.A.R.T, you can read about it if you can find their website, and look up Water House. We had a lot of activity involving water for about six months and then it quit. My youngest son who has shown signs of being able to see and hear the dead, claims to hear voices on a weekly basis. This started at the age of 15 months and he is now almost 14 years old. In his early years he often gave descriptions of his ‘dead people’, and 99% of the time he described my brother and sister-in-law who died in an auto accident 9 years before my son was born, and he never knew them. The other 1% of the time he described an aunt who passed of cancer when he was 6 months old. When he was 6 he found a picture of my brother stashed in an old book, he brought it to me and told me that the man in the picture was the “ghost who loved me”, I asked him how he knew that, and his reply was “Because he told me”.
I believe every wood, and wish I could see and hear what he does.

Why are people asking “where is this place?” If you would take the time to read you would clearly notice it’s location is listed right under the title.
Anyway, of course a house that was burned down years ago is still going to contain “strange odors.”

I would like to tell you guys and gals that you should really do your research before you speak on such things.
There are two black angels in Iowa.
One in Iowa City, and One in Counsil Bluffs.
My great great aunt Teresa is the one who bought the Black Angel in Iowa City. I would like to say right now that our family is not evil and we are not witches as several stories lead.
The reason for the Angels wings and face looking down is because she is there to protect her loved ones. You can tell that she is looking down to PROTECT them!
Comment by Krystal | 10.23.2007 | 12:36 pm
I have been to the Black Angel in Iowa City. Angel of protection or not, it was creeeepy. There are also several other haunted places in central Iowa. There are several in a book called the Haunted Heartland. I have been to Oswalt bridge between Colfax and Mitchellville. It is said to be the site of several satanic activities in the past. It was actually discussed in a sociology book I had in college. Although I have never encountered anything there, a high school friend camped out and woke up with a pentagram drawn around her.

Just a couple of weeks ago me and a couple of friends went out to level b roads.Although we’re from the DMI we ended up in Carlise and Indianola that day.We decided to go drive on the level b roads but they were wet so we went on a different route. We ended up finding a rusty looking bridge in Indianola and since it was around 6:00 it was a little dark outside but we went on and halfway through the bridge a guy ran by our truck and so we didnt see him get up fyi we got out of the car no one was there.we were freaked we got in the truck locked our doors and got the **** of that bridge. As we drove on dirt roads that no one knew lead to.We saw child once we went by the bridge again, but this time they were on the rails of the bridge there were at least four of them. They looked back at us and smiled. We got out of the car to try and stop the children from ending their lives.but once we were all out of the truck and the last door was shut the children looked back one last time and jumped of the bridge. As for looking down no one ended up in the little creek that was down below.Maybe that bridge was the one I have heard of so much in ghost stories we told all the time but know I know this bridge is no longer just a story it’s as ****ing real as it gets out there.
Comment by lisa | 10.26.2007 | 6:33 pm
Lisa I have also experienced something similar on a bridge like that in the middle of nowhere of Indianola.Everything except the guy running in front of our car.The day it happened was late October last year but along with the children we got a women dressed in a church dress but she looked demonted. She looked at us and said “If you know whats good for you you shall turn around and never come on this bridge ever.”she said it with the coldest look on her face. She turned and motioned to something we couldn’t see behind the trees and many children came and started rocking our car.My friend Jennifer decided to honk the horn and the children and woman fled.We drove over the bridge again a week later and my friends and I saw the women again strangly the woman saw us and waved.I look forward to going up there this weekend late at night to see if she remains there.Maybe if you guys go up there and explore this weekend maybe talk to locals and ask questions you may find answers and also you’ll find me also looking for answers.

There is an old bridge where a single mom woke up to find her frozen baby in the water and was found reatching out to her, both dead.three days after a ice storm.
You can often her whimpering there and crying, its right in betwenn des moines and some little city , you can see the city on the way there down a dirt road to you right.Im not sure whats on the other side of the bridge, it creepy though. The death was in the last 10 years.
Also: anyone know anything about the recently torn down insane asylum “storey county care facility”?. that was a creepy place. complete with a grave yard and a shooting range attached. you could sneak in through the basment. the attic allways smelled sweet.i tryed to head out the and the whole massive (three to four footballs feilds sized) building was gone.
anyone?anyone??

also, the house i grew up in always has a ghostly sleeper. it snores! thats it, i mean some serious snoring though.we just used to hush it.it would stop.
there was also the regular stuff with t.v.’s turning on and things. i saw a really freaky TALL black shadow on differnt occasions just standing there, i would just go back to my room, really freaked out but safe.
a friend that lived in the house where his uncle killed himself still has the partial rope hanging. it would swing somtimes there was angry noises and banging often.
DesMoines is a haunted place, people just dont talk about it.
anyone remember when that lady got burned under 6th ave. bridge? go under there. that gota be haunted.i can name a dozzen creepy spots but most of them are privetly owned and i sneak in to them or otherwise “no zones” and i dont want other people there but more people have to know pleny, i have seen people at some of them.

The House of Ladders WAS located just east of the intersection of Fleur Dr and County Line Rd. This used to be a dirt road just south of the Memorial Gardens Cemetary off Fleur Dr. I am 51 years old and heard the story from my older sister. It had nothing to do with arsonists or spontanious combustion. The story was that there was an old man that lived in the house and his wife had run off to meet her lover by sneaking out an upstairs window and climning down a ladder. She never actually left because she fell to her death. He left the ladders up on the house in hopes that she would return to him by climbing up one of the ladders.
I went there once when I was about 16 with some friends. We pulled in the drive of the old two story farm house and the farmer came out with a shot gun. We left fast. I never went back. I imagine it was just some old man living there and he was sick of all of us kids coming around to look at the house all hours of the day and night. Strange thing about the story is that none of the ladders were actually up against the windows, they were just leaning up against the house and it would have been very difficult to reach a window by climbing any of the ladders. His house was also about 5 different colors and looked as if he was just painting with all different colors of paint. It was an old run down farm house and the fact that it was by a cemetary made for a good story. The house has been gone for years, the bypass is there now.
I like a good ghost story as well as the next person.
But until I actually see one its just in fun.

This was back in the late 60’s when my friends and I would go ..We also were shot at.

The Matsell’s Bridge experience is not a hoax. I tried it this evening when a friend told me about it. I tried it from both directions. The first time, I was facing North, and was just barely on the bridge. I put the car in neutral and turned the vehicle off. The car was still for approximately 20 seconds and then moved 10-12 feet and stopped. I then repeated this test approaching the bridge facing South. I was willing to discredit it to the grade or other factors on the bridge, but I did note that the tires were rolling and not sliding. The second time, I pulled further onto the bridge and again put the car in neutral. This time also, the car was perfectly still for approximately 20 seconds and then the car began to slowly roll forward. It “felt” like an external force was pushing the car and was not rolling due to the grade of the surface. The car travelled approximately 20-25 feet and then stopped. There is very little grade to the bridge that I could note and it is relatively flat by visual observation. Experiments on slight grades did NOT exhibit the same effect as what was experienced on the bridge. Experiments of having someone push the car did result in the same sensation I perceived while sitting on the bridge with the car in neutral and no visible force pushing the car. I did not hear voices and did not see any handprints on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. However, I did not read about the baby powder until I did some research on this website. I will try this again tomorrow evening and use baby powder.
Comment by Iowan | 11.22.2007 | 10:11 pm
experiment repeated with same results. brought two additional witnesses and took photos. A transparent child’s face can be seen in one photograph. I was neutral about this but now think there really is something to the bridge. Very little that I can find for the history. If there is someone that does paranormal investigations, please contact me, I will share my information.

I have been to this house, it was about 10 years ago. I do not remember how to get there. A friend took me there all I remember is that it was at the end of a gravel road on the south side. I did not want to go inside of the house there were very intense bad felling that overwhelmed me as soon as got out of the car. I told my friend that I wanted to leave asap. As we were leaving(and yes I know how crazy this is going to sound) we were telling my friend that took us there that she had made the whole story up in hopes of freaking us out. As soon as we said that flames burst up from the road on both sides of us then we heard a blood curdling scream that seemed like it was inside of the car. I have never been so scared in my life. This place is very real. Don’t know if the back storie about the house that I heard is true or not but it is interesting…I man and his family lived there and he also had another family in another state, he became so ridled with guilt that he killed both families and himself. Then set the house on fire. Supposedly a few contractors tried to renovate the house after the fire so that the property could be sold but everytime they put up new drywall or stairs, etc it would catch on fire. None of the contactors were hurt but none of them wanted to work on the house again. Like I said don’t know if the back storie is true or not but I know what I saw and it was real!

I’ve heard of the Marbury House, too. That place is scary. My brother in law drove past there one night and said that he could see a figure in the front window. And the scary part…… no one has lived in that house 40 years!!!
