Spontaneous Combustion
This house is said to be haunted by two men, a woman, and a child — arsonists who killed a total of six people through their blazes. Today, the house is known to randomly burst in to flames, though no damage is sustained. There are also cold spots and strange odors. Some have even been pushed down the stairs while in the house alone.

In reference to the Black Angel earlier, she is a statue in Council Bluffs, Iowa and was put in a cemetery overlooking the town and the city of Omaha, Nebraska. The reason the statue is there is that it is a “vision” that Mrs. Dodge (of the Dodge family whom were prominate in the 1800’s) had when she was on her death-bed. She told her daughter of a dream that she had of an angel on the bow of a boat coming across a lake. The angel motioned for Mrs. Dodge to come with her, that it was her time to “cross over”. In the angel’s hand was a dish of some sort (reason or relevence is unknown). Mrs. Dodge reportedly woke from the dream stating that she didn’t go with the angel. Her daughter said to her that she should have so the next night, Mrs. Dodge went to sleep and never woke from her slumber. The daughter decided that the angel had an impact on her mother’s ease of suffering, so they had a statue of the angel made as her mother had described and put it in the cemetery as a memorial to her mother. Local kids from COuncil Bluffs, Iowa and surrounding areas in Nebraska like to go to the cemetery near the lookout point where the Louis and Clark expedition marked during their surveys along the Missouri River. The legend is that you were place a penny in the dish of the statue of the angel and walk 100 paces way from her, turning your back. Once you go back to the statue, you were supposed to look in the dish and if your penny was gone, you were going to have bad things befall you. Of course, this is legend only. I know of none of us silly teenagers that have had a penny taken by any spirits, however, the ambiance that surrounds the statue itself is ominous at best. The reason the statue is black is due to her being made of brass. Weather and time cause a reaction to the surface turning it black. The cemetary surrounding her dates back to the Oregon trail passage, and is said to be haunted prior to the placement ot the statue.

I don’t care if there is a haunted place in Des moines or not but if you guys wanna see some scary **** go to west liberty iowa. by the WL foods factory there is an old train station which is so haunted you all need to see it and if you wanna be scared shitless check out the house accross it it’s about 150 years old when me and my friends went in there you could hear someone coming up the stairs from the basemet but when me and my friends checked it stopped and that’s when you could hear someone screaming in the attic the weird thing was that it’s still up for sale. the whole reason why it’s haunted was cause a young girl was hanged in the basemet and the guy who killed her decided to hang himself as a cover up as i’m typing this i am holding a cross that’s how scared i am. Check out west liberty for some scary ****

hey i know that the old iowa state penitentiary is haunted. the guards even stated that they will not go down to the old cellhouse. they claim they can hear shakels rattle and moans. also in ottumwa iowa on west second clear on the west end of town by taft drive and west fifth it is haunted there is plenty of spirits that haunt that area and it makes people feel froze in time.

i’ve lived here all my life and not once have i heard of this house. i am a psychic child. i do see the dead and can communicate. i dont read fortunes but do visit the cemetary downtown. that is one of the haunted places i’ve been to. my house is also haunted by a man, woman and child who have no connection. but at the cemetary a woman from the late 1800’s walks around with her husband. when i visit suprisingly she waves.

The house is on Hickman Road, in Des Moines. I can’t give the address, as the owner doesn’t want a bunch of wanna-be ghost hunters bothering her.

Ok, I’ve lived in Des Moines all my life. I have never ever heard of such a place. And William, you say it’s on Hickman Rd…… ha no, I don’t think so!
I’m sure that I’m older than the majority of you people so I’ve seen alot and heard alot about this city and there is no such house. Now, the house in Villisca,IA, I’ve heard about! I do recall hearing about the ax murders of a family. Don’t believe EVERYTHING you hear.

Any reason why you doubt me, Teri? Like I said, the house mentioned in the above posts is on Hickman. Simple as that. I’ve been in the place but saw nothing unusal. As for Villisca—well, that’s another place, another story. As far as I’m concerned ghosts are nothing more than one’s own guilt. As I’m sure you know, there’s not one shred of documented evidence to support the existance of ghosts. If you think I’m wrong, please enlighten the world with your evidence. We’re waiting.

IN 2002 I MOVED TO BOONE IOWA TO LIVE WITH MY DAUGHTER AND HER FOUR KIDS. THE HOUSE THAT SHE WAS LIVING IN WAS A TWO STORY HOUSE IN WEST BOONE AT THE END OF TOWN. THE FIRST NIGHT I WAS THERE I WAS A SLEEP ON THE SOFA AND I HEARD SOMEONE KNOCKING ON ALL THE WINDOWS AROUND THE FIRST FLOOR. I YELLED FOR MY DAUGHTER TO SEE IF IT WAS A FRIEND OF HERS MESSING AROUND OUT SIDE. SHE OPENED THE WINDOW TO SEE IF SHE SAW ANYTHING OUT SIDE OR NOT.IT HAS SNOWED ALL DAY THAT DAY IT WAS IN FEB. THERE WAS’T EVEN FOOT PRINTS IN THE SNOW? A COUPLE OF DAY’S LATER I WAS IN THE LIVING ROOM AGAIN THERE WAS A ROOM ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE HOUSE A BEDROOM RIGHT BY THE FROUNT DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD RADDLE WILDLY ON IT’S OWN AND WHEN EVER YOU WENT IN THAT ROOM IT WAS FREEZING COLD YOU COULD SEE YOUR BREATH AND THE REST OF THE HOUSE WAS WARM. THIS WAS HAPPENING A COUPLE TIMES A DAY. MY GRANDKID WOULD FREAK AND SCREAM AND CRY. I GOT SO ANGRY ONE NIGHT I WENT IN THERE AND STARTED TO SCREAM LEAVE THEM A LONE (THE GRANDKIDS )ABOUT A MOUNTH LATER MY COUSIN FROM DE MOINES CAME TO VISIT US AND STARTED TO TAKE PICTURES OF MY DAUGHTER AND I AND AND IN ONE OF THE PICTURES YOU COULD SEE A WINDOW BEHIND OUR HEADS AND IN THE PICTURE WAS A IMAGE OF MY DAUGHTERS FATHER WHO HAD BEEN KILLED A YEAR EARLIER DOWN THE ROAD FROM THE HOUSE. MY DAUGHTER THINK HE CAME BY TO SAY HELLO TO ME. BUT IT WAS DISTURBING COOL BUT DISTURBING.
