where is this haunted house at and when is it open for peole to go

There was a place located on Grand Ave. in Des Moines…a large white house about 3 or 4 stories high. This place use to be a hair salon on the lower level then it turned into a clothing store called Phase I. Not sure what it is now because I moved out of state about 15 years ago……anyway, when it was a salon it is said that the owner would hear moving furniture and people walking around upstairs after hours when nobody was there except the owner of the salon. One night the owner left and when he came back in the morning all the chairs and most of the furniture had been rearranged and stacked up on each other. Weird. If anyone knows what this place is now I would like to know.

The Hickman House is real…. and no…. you can’t have the address. It does not burst into flames, but there is smell of smoke, and the smell is almost constant. The house is haunted, but simply because it is so old. The house is on the American Historical Landmark registry and is about a block off Arlington Rd. where Hickman Rd. begins. The family that lives there does not want people coming there to investigate. They have had our group there and they said that was enough. That was 8 years ago, and to my knowledge, they have not invited another group back. We did get a lot of unexplainable evps and photographs of orbs and lights. The family has had this house in the family for many, many years and they say they are used to the activity, but sometimes do still get a little spooked. Anyone that has been there will tell you that the families request of “Don’t tell anyone about this house” means do not give out the address because of the number of people that have actually tried to break into the home. Respect their wishes and leave it alone. But yes….. the house is REAL! The stories are just exaggerated.

I live in a small town in Iowa where a man killed his wife by smashing her head repeatedly with a hammer. Many people said that it was haunted. People said that you could walk by the house on the sidewalk and sometimes hear the screaming and groaning coming from the house, even though it was vacant. Finally, the house was actually tooken down.

I have been in the house on 3 occasions. The last being around 2002. At that time only one woman resided their with her pets. Although she was talking about moving. I experienced a few things. Cold rooms, ceiling fan turned on by itself, cats rubbing up against legs that werent visible, loud bangs coming from upstairs, footsteps. I had some really good infa-red shots on my second visit, but they mysteriously vanished. Out of respect for what I assume is still the owner, I will not give out any information as she was very generous with me and my family. The last info that I heard from the house, was that a statue was stolen from the front yard, and a sign was put out as a warning, and the statue was returned shortly thereafter. But I cannot verify this.

everyone has got to go to MATSELL BRIDGE! it was the scariest thing in my life. it is near viola iowa and its kinda hard to find but totally worth it. we got there and we had the windows just opened a crack. we stoped on the bridge put it in nuetral, turned off the car and the lights. as soon as we did we heard footsteps on the gravel behind us. my friend looked but no one was there. a few seconds later our car began to move. and it didnt just roll like it was on a slope. it felt like a push and then another push. then there was a big gust of wind and after that if sounded like someone was breathing heavily into the passenger side of the car. we were only able to do it once because as we got to the other side of the bridge we saw headlights so we took off. the car kept following us and it turned out to be the DNR. so just a warning to anyone who goes, the DNR out there are a bit paranoid ha ha. it was just like in the scary movies where there is the one cop that is always like “theres nothing to see here! its all lies!” but it is totally worth it. i swear on my life that that is exactly what happened. a few friends of mine went a few days later and they put baby powder on the back of their car and sure enough they had hand prints on it. creepiest thing in the world. you have to check it out.

Has anyone heard of Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA? Anyone heard it’s haunted? I’ve heard so many stories cause my mom works there on the 2nd floor and she’s seen an apparition of a lady in black and the janitor cleans the 2nd floor every night says he’s been touched, seen things, felt things… it just gets better and better.

The house that’s haunted in Vilsillica Iowa is true and it is very haunted, I have been there and you do feel some type of presents there.Also the cemetary in Clarion, Iowa is haunted, as well. Mapquest for directions to the cemetary in Clarion Iowa and for the house in Vilsilica Iowa

I’ve been to the house.. Or at least people say it is the house but I’ve been there with different groups of friends so it sounds legit. Its by Skate South. If you pass Skate South going West, take your first right (it’s been a while, so I’ll do my best). After you take your first right take your first left and go down the road. There should be small houses on both sides of the road. Keep going down that road all the way (only about a mile, if that) til you reach the end. Its the house on the Right (north), its about 2-3 stories and is big and if I remember right, its more of a stone grey color.
