Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

St. Francis Hospital

Colorado Springs, Colorado

The room formerly used as the tuberculosis ward, is now a records room. There are at least two spirits that have been reported to haunt the area. One will often come behind nurses in the room and ask in a muffled voice, “What ya doin?”. Another spirit was reported to have locked an employee in a closet.

I worked at St. Francis for six years and often experienced things that I could not explain. The records room in on the second floor of what is refered to as the 29 building. Even though the public address system has been disconnected for many years you can still hear static coming from the speakers. On several occasions the ghost of doctors have been seen in the doctor’s lounge on the main floor and I have heard a female’s voice in an empty office in the former adminstration area.

That place is creepy during the evening. My Mom just got home from the psychiatric part and we visited her every night for the past 4 nights. Last night one of the elevators came down from one of the other floors and when the door opened there was no one there. No one had pressed the button for the elevator to come so it must have been one of the ghosts sending us one.

that’s really creepy. my mom got a job there when we lived just near colorado springs. i can’t say my mom was a real believer in ghost, but she didnt say it wasn’t possible. anyway she would come home all the time telling me about weird things that she would see or hear. (cuz i’m highly interested in this stuff!) anyway she would say all the time about hating having to go into the records room and how the elevators would do that exact thing. she never really expecience anything truly substantial, but to hear it from other people is kind of reassuring. But i have one question does anyone remember the story / stories about the nuns. i faintly remember one about the nuns in the gardens. but wasn’t there tunnels from hospital over to the chapel? if you do know these please feel free to email me @ : Cherryblde@hotmail.com. thank you.

I use to work at this hospital, and the stuff there I could not explain… LIKE when you walk into the 29 building, you can hear footsteps behind you like someone was right behind you following you, but when I would turn around no one would be there or anywhere around me, and I witnessed a figure walking into what I came up to a CLOSED elevator.Myself and another co worker were moving stuff onto that floor, it sounded like the door was rattling and when we walked past it stopped then it started up as we walked by. You can also hear someone faintly whistle a tune

Yah this might help you all out. On the staticing speakers, that is probably because the amplifier is still on although the Microphone(s) was disconnected years ago. In a building like that it isn’t worth the money to find it. Also alot or all elevators are made to cycle by them selves. The Idea is to go to the most common floors and maybe save a possible rider a minute. Also possible vibrating motors (for the elevator and or ventalation and such) could be the culprit for vibrating doors. In these cases the vibrations can come and go for more than one reason.Don’t get me wrong I believe in ghosts, I have lived in Colorado Springs my whole life and have had to many friends tell me where they actually are. And guess what? St Francis is one of them :) or :( which ever way you feel about it. lol

I’ve enjoyed reading your comments. My family and I are planning a trip to Colorado Springs in April 2007 and we’d really like to go to some haunted places. Do any of you know of any haunted tours or places that allow the public to come in? Any recommendations? We (especially my son and I) are believers and are really into this sort of thing.

I’m glad I found this site, but I am becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of proper grammer and punctuation on the Internet. I, too, was born at this hospital. I would love to check it out, but with proper equipment. I always feel uncomfortable asking home and buisiness owners if I can hunt. Because you cannot just walk into a hospital with a camera and tons of equipment. The patients there could be offended, as well as employees who don’t want to be open-minded to ghost hunters. Could be worth the effort, though.

OMG, I had a sleep study done there last year and at the time I told my boyfriend that I didn’t want to stay because I felt there were spirits there, now I know I am not crazy. Thank you !

Brielle that’s funny that they want you to use correct grammar, capitalization, and punctuation and you were complaining about how it bothers you that people don’t then you spelled the word “business” incorrectly! You spelled it “buisiness”. haha

Anyway, I have only been to Penrose one time to visit a friend who had a baby and so I can’t say if this is or isn’t true. I had my daughter at Memorial. Either way it would be really cool to get some actual evidence on film to see if the stories are true!
