Stepp Cemetery
In this cemetery, only accessible by foot, around midnight, an apparition of a lady appears on a rock that resembles a chair. On Halloween, many cult groups venture to this place to conduct ceremonies.

Stepp Cemetery is located diognal from a small park in Monroe Forestry. I used to stay at Lake Lemon with my parents. I had friends who used to go all the time, they heard a lady screaming and they took off. I went during te day and took a bunch of pics, but nothing showed up. I sat on the stump also, and supposely the urban ledgend is you die the 1 year anniversary of that date. Still alive…that was 5 yrs. ago. Very intresting place to check out. Planning on going again!

There is no way michelle’s uncle could be Baby Lester grave and the stump are too far apart. As a ghost hunter I’ve been to Stepp Cemetery on Hallows Eve the past three years in a row. The woman spirit can be seen. You can also see a young girl here too. If you want to get shocked, I would suggest you bring two candles. Place one on the stump and one Baby Lesters gravestone. Wait for the woman to appear on the stump then cross between the candles. Then you may believe in spirits.
As far having sex in the cemetery be careful the forest ranger is aware of stepp cemetery. Last year while visiting on hallows eve, we were asked to leave the park at 11pm. He kept his distance within the cemetery than made himself known when it was time to leave. He does have night vision equipment so be careful how you conduct yourself in the cemetery.
There is also another cool cemetery not far from Stepp, if you travel past Stepp until the paved road ends, you will see a gate. Turn right. Go to the first road to your left (this road is Gose Rd). Go just a tad past two miles, look to your right. You’re looking for an area that is roped off between two trees, (we used to be able drive down to it). Park your car, it not far walk but you can not see it from the road at night.
If you go past Gose Rd, and follow the road to the bottom, you will find another little catholic cemetery to your left. This road will T into Lower Gap Rd. If you turn left it will T into mahallsiville rd. If you turn left again you will end up back in Martinsville, south of the Walmart.

Also there was an Olethia Walls, that died Jan 15, 2007 at the age of 85 but her nick was “Toots”. The Stepp Cemetery fame has been going on long before this. Stepp Cemetery has been around since the 1800’s. Baby Lester died in 1937. Stories also suggest the mother of Baby Lester died a few years later. Stories of the woman in black have been around since the 1950’s. If you want to see a fairly good representation of Stepp Cemetery visit, http://www.darkdarling.com/stepp.html

I have been to the grave yard a couple of times. I never have seen anything with my own two eyes. I did take alot of pictures. The only thing that shows up is orbs. The best orb that I caught is one that is shaped like a six point star. It was kinda creepy, but is really fascinating.

I will not go back to stepp. been there several times, everytime seeing something different. Shadows in the wood west of the cemetary, red eyes and growls, cackling. the stone the says Never At Rest had maggots, beetles and centipedes crawling all over it. the first time i went there a girl was going Nuts pushing people trying to fight everyone. her freinds said she never acted like that before. On a separate occasion me and some freinds went and decided to light a candle on the Stepp Cemetary stone. The flame got about 2 inches high in the are and started to swirl. The wind wasnt blowing. when we blew the candle out it made a sizzling sound. About half way down the trail we stop and look behind us. Fog had completly covered the cemetary. Got back to the car and looks back again and the fog was coming down the trail.
Most people dont know but if you drive down the road the is a pull off to the right. down the hill is a cabin where a family was murdered by a group od indians. You can actually rent this cabin. I havnt and wont due to the fact the this place give me the creeps. For all these people saying they havnt seen anything. You got to actually pay attention and know wats goin on around you. THIS PLACE IS EVIL.

First and foremost, that is not the whole story. Secondly, the actual stump was removed. all that remains (and that is mistaken for the stump) is a tree that was cut down. It has become a local hang out for the high school kiddies that like to hide in the woods and make noises. I have been out there a dozen times in the last 11 or so years cleaning up the tombstones that the little jerks knock over. I had one experience out there the very 1st time i went and i think it was just because it was my 1st time. It is a cool place to check out but the only thing spooky is all the freaks you end up running into out there.

I went there a few times in high school, but we weren’t disrespectful little jerks though
. On Baby Lester’s grave there was a dollar and some change left on it (we did not even touch that). I’ve been told (and have read similar things) that this is what some people do after they summon a spirit as a way to “repay them”. We didn’t see or hear anything but it’s very creepy, even in the daytime.
As far as the cabin, that’s completely boarded up. I worked with a guy who’s wife went to high school down there, and she said that they went there before it was boarded up and there were animals mutilated and nailed to the walls. I don’t know (and doubt) that’s true though.
I’ve heard that there’s a satanic church in the woods around Mooresville somewhere, and cloaked men have been seen walking around and dobermen’s running around on their back legs. Any truth to that? We tried to find it once (in the afternoon) and ended up in some cul-de-sack street. We drove to the end to turn around, and as we did, all the people started coming out of their houses and looking at us. A group of dogs all of a sudden surrounded the car and chased us. When we finally got turned around and were heading out, I saw a man come out of his house with a shotgun. And all the houses had lit up stars on the front of their houses in some way and it was nowhere near Christmas. Weird satanic cult or angry hillbillies?

Went to Stepp Cemetery with two friends last night( Oct. 18th). One friend i was with, who is sensitive to the perception of spirits, etc., said she saw a demon face emerge from a tree behind myself and my other friend. Apparently it didn’t like us reading the headstones near that tree. Also, we hovered our hands closely around the stump and, even though it was only 45 degrees fahrenhite outside, the stump felt warm. Also, as we were leaving the grounds, i was shining my light in front of me and i swear i saw a pair of legs dressed in old brown trousers walking towards me for a split second.
Side note: I am amazed at how little respect some people have for the dead. It hurts me deeply to see vandalism and garbage strewn in a cemetery.

I do my own investigations on different places. I get a lot of progress with it surprisingly. On Stepp Cemetery…..I have 1 photo of a full grown head to toe man with a bright red and striped sweater, I have 1 photo of a young woman’s head with details of the hair and ribbons in it. Quite a few photos of streams of light coming from some graves, and and evp that is quite clear and is a man telling me “Don’t go, sit down”. Very interesting place! And definetly got a welcoming feeling there.

to jason kirby –> yes seeing as how i have been out there multiple times and even walked to the cabin yes i can tell you about the dogs (yes plural. there are three of them). they are black dags and members of the family that roams the woods there. there is the father who is in a tuxedo with a black top hat, the young daughter in the white dress, and i have yet to get a clear view of the mother. everytime i turn to look at her, when i do see her, she darts off so you cant get a clear look. another place to check out is the owen county asylum. have fun there if you dont get the creeps and leave in the first 15-20 minutes. (it is a very creepy place. take lots of pictures of the cells, because youll find something everytime in the cells and in damn near every window on the building.)

I have quite a lot to say, so bear with me. My sister Laura and I were taken to visit Stepp Cemetary six days ago by my cousin Brian, a frequent visitor. He has amazing photo’s and experiences! I have always believed in the afterlife, but have never had proof. I do NOW! The three of us are very respectful of the dead. We picked up trash left by those with No respect! It was around 9:00 or 9;30pm, I had been walking around snapping pics, asking the spirits to please let me experience their existence. It was getting very hard to make out anything in the dark. The ghostly shape of a man suddenly appeared 10 feet in front of me. He was solid white with a blurry outline, very tall, wide shoulders. His feet were apart, each arm raised from his sides in a peculiar manner. He was staring into my eyes with his very black ones. There were no other facial features visible.I very shakily called out, “PLEASE tell me you see that!” to my companions, who both said, “What! Where!”. They saw nothing. I smiled at the apparition and said “Thank You”. He disappeared. A few words of advice; show respect! If you seriously want to experience something awesome that will change your life, take your partying elsewhere! Do not trash their home!! Be friendly. Be nice. You can THINK your thoughts and wishes. They’ll hear you. Please. It’s and experience that will change you forever!

I went 2 Stepp Cemetary (Martinsville Indiana) & I was totally fascinated by this place, was daytime, had absolutely no experiences, but there was this one grave that had 2 be super old and it was like it was a freshly dugged area. No grass growing on it whatsoever (unlike the other graves)….very eerie yet very interesting. Go check it out !!! “GL on your findings”
