Real Haunted House

Stepp Cemetery

Elletsville, Indiana

In this cemetery, only accessible by foot, around midnight, an apparition of a lady appears on a rock that resembles a chair. On Halloween, many cult groups venture to this place to conduct ceremonies.

Big Red, I totally agree with you. Matt Farris definitely needs help!! It would also be to his advantage to lay off the halucinogen’s! I feel honored being allowed to see what appeared to me, a wonderful, compassionate spirit who gave me proof of life eternal. Some people will probably think I also need a shrink, but I’m happy to say I’m better than fine! I have the proof I’ve needed all my life. I’m going back to Stepp in two weeks. I expect to be picking up trash there again, and I want to see if I can remove some of the graffiti. PLEASE, people! Show respect or stay home. By the way, the picnic/shelter area down the road has a very clean restroom. USE IT. The spirits residing at Stepp are compassionate souls. Be respectful, and you might just experience something as amazing as I did!!!!!

I just need help with directions to Stepp. My boyfriend and I really want to find a place to look for a haunting and we are very respectful of spirits. we know how to treat them. we care a lot so we want to go see if we can get some kind of general positive communication. anyone can help that’d be great. e-mail at cbmlinares@yahoo.com. thanks.

I visited this place with two friends a few years ago, we walk out to it and didnt see any thing unusual , but we herd foot steps out in the woods . as we were leaving I looked back to make sure no one was fallowing , and in the middle of the cemetery stood a burnt down house were we all were just standing . I figured I was just seeing things , but I looked over and we were all looking at this house, I asked, do you see that, the reply was oh yeah , and in the window of this house there was an figure and the curtains were blowing in the wind then a cloud then passed over, the moon light was covered, and when it returned the house was completely gone …. I was astonished to say the least

I live just 20 minutes away from the cemetery in Bloomington. Its kind of hard to find, but once you find it, it’s a reaqlly fun place to go. The first time I went, I had a crowd with me. We heard things, but there were several people there, so you cant assume its paranormal. Behind the tombstones, there are paths that lead out into the woods, and I think going back through there was spookier than the actual cemetery. It’s a rather small place, but holds a huge tale. If you research the place, everyone has a different tale of who and how the spirits got there. Ive heard the stories of the lady weeping on the stump, but Ive heard its her daughter she cries for, and Ive also heard it was her husband. Ive heard it was named after a family (Stepp), and they’re the ones there. I also read that the land belonged to a family (once again, still speaking of Stepp), which the family separated and there was a fight between brothers over the land and they literally killed each other and are burried there. Whatever the truth may be, we will probably never know, but the tales are always fun to listen to, and the hopes of having an experience there in itself is an adrenaline rush. There are several other places close to home that are also fun to explore. In Ellettsville, there’s the Matthews Mansion, which the Matthews do still live there, but you can see figures in the windows, and “shadow people” roaming the outside of the home. IU has buildings known to be haunted, with all the suicides taken place on campus, and the story of the professor who got a student pregnant. He was afraid the public would find out then his wife and reputation would be destroyed, so he lured her down into the basement of a building, her being under the impression of another romantic encounter, drugged her and attempted an at-home abortion resulting in the death of both mother and unborn child. Whatever the truth may be, whatever your own beliefs are, a good ghost story is always fun to listen to, and if an encounter were to happen, it would just make it that much better!

i just went to stepp cemetery. i orginally went there to take my girl snipe hunting, which i just learned about thru http://twitter.com/btownurbanmyths. so we went out their and was amazed what wat we found…toys and electronics on a grave and candle wax on what looked to be a burnt stump…after finding these we actually didn’t snipe hunt and just walked around. we later found other ppl were there…drunks i think they called themselves hashers…anyone know who hashers are? anyway they told us this place was haunted as we were leaving but thought it was a joke. when we got home we looked up stepp cemetery and wow…a lot of experience and the girl/mom story was fascinating. guess i should have read a little more about stepp cemetery on http://twitter.com/btownurbanmyths before just going. anyone have an pics or vids ?

I don’t know much about this haunted place exept for what I read and it sounds like two hauntings have been combined into one. Apperations appear every where every day its just we don’t know their there until we see a shadow that isn’t ours or we get attackted by something we can’t even see. some apparations are nice and don’t want to harm you while others would love to see you suffer the same fate they did.
