Tabb Residence Hall

07.23.2005 | 10:37 pm | Farmville, United States, Virginia

On the top floor of Tabb Residence Hall, there is another set of ascending stairs. Supposedly, these stairs lead to an abandoned abortion clinic that was the site of a murder. Allegedly, the murdered man still walks around the room.

  1. I went into South Tabb with a group of paranormal investigators and we found the room. Unfortunately it was locked, but there was a handprint (the legend is that there is a bloody handprint) that was very faint. We will more than likely go back when we can get a key to the attic, but we didn’t see anything with our eyes or cameras. We did get a couple of EVPs, though, and in one of them there is a distinct voice telling us to “Come Forward.” We need to go back and investigate more.

  2. Tabb Hall is ******** I have lived in farmville all my life and have been to tabb hall dozens of times and i have been in the room!! there is no handprint and there is no blood its all a dumb joke! but if you really want to see some weird **** hit up sailors creek at 1:42 in the morning go up to the little white house and knock on the door!!!!! I only know of three people who have done this, myself included, and the reality and the horror is unreal!! you will run away screaming!!! The story behind Sailors Creek starts back during the civil war, an entire family was locked in there cellar while their home was used as a hospital for the wounded soilders! once you knock on the door you will see a faint light shine through the cellar windows, a strong breeze will blow and you began to get freezing cold! It’s just something you have to experiance yourself to understand! But, you have to be there at one forty two in the morning! it has to be a half moon and no noise (cars, talking) have fun but be ready to run

  4. I’ve been in the attic of South Tabb. It’s nothing up there. The scary story of Longwood is the story of the little boy that died in Frasier Hall. The story is the little boy was riding his tricycle around when it was being built. He was on the top floor with his father. The elevators weren’t in yet, but the little boy didn’t know that. He rode his bike into the shaft and fell all 30 ft. If you get in the elevator, you may feel it drop down really fast, hear the kid scream, and then it go slow like it normally does.

  5. Did anyone ever hear about the girl that was killed in the bell? When Longwood was an all girls school, they moved the bell from one building to the one it’s at now. While they were moving it, the bell fell off the cart and rolled down the big hill, rolling over top of a girl and killing her. Sometimes if you listen, you can hear the bell skip a ring. That’s when she is in there. Or how about the kid that hanged himself in Cunnungham? The kid who painted the thick red stripe around the whole room and then hanged himself? Sometimes at night the red line will appear and you will see him.

The only reason why I say once is because I think if I come across anything real I will most likely leave all this alone. Email me at nycacura21@aol.com

  11. I lived downstairs from the room in Tabb. I never saw anything up there, but my roomie did move out and leave school b/c she kept seeing a shadow walking around in our room at night. Also, there is a window in South Ruffner (same building) that reopens every time it is closed b/c of a fire there. But if you REALLY want a scare in Farmville, go to Appomattox St. to the corner…you’ll see a BIG house that has been made into apts. It was a civil war hospital. The top floor is so scary. I almost rented an apt. there but I couldn’t stay b/c of the noises and things moving.

  12. I also went to Longwood and every October one of the antho professor’s would give a ghost talk about all of the ghosts and other wierd things that have happened at the school and the land that they own. As for Salor’s Creek thing. The hospital is in Rice, VA. you can either take 460 east past Farmville, take the last left before you get to the 407 or 704 exit (the road that conects 460 to 360 kind of like a triangle) or you can be on the road 407 or 704 and about half way down the road you will see signs for the salior’s creek battlefield.
I went there two different nights. The first one scared the he-be-ge-bes out of me. one of my friends felt like a bulit hit him, I couldn’t even force myself to get out to the area the others were, and sounds were doing weird things too. We could not hear

  13. what the others were saying. The sound was unusally muffled. Then later that night I felt like something had followed me home. This happened my freshman year and then on my last semester at the school two different friends came with me so I could see what was going on. I needed to get it out of my system before I graduated. Nothing happened.

  14. Ok I live in cumberland and went to longwood. The story of the boy falling down the elevator shaft is a lie do your homework. There has been speculation of a former abortion clinic in civil war times in tabb attic, but no murder. The kid who killed him self in cunningham is a lie. but there may have been an unmarked graveyard in the approx. area of the cunninghams. one kid did kill himself in frasier about 6 or 7 years ago over an ex girlfriend. There are also underground tunnels underneath longwood they are all sealed now but when i was in school they still had one open. There were stories that one collapsed and killed a girl but ive never found any evidence. you can still see some of the tunnels on campus. and a bell? longwood doesn’t have a bell. yes the house on the corner of appomattox and buffalo was a make shift civil war hospital. it isn’t haunted, it isn’t scary it’s just old several friends lived on 4th floor.

  16. I went to Longwood in 1999. I got kicked out of college but thats another story. Anyhow, the bell is for real and I’ve heard it skip.

  17. Yes, there is a bell at longwood. its been there since it opened. the orignal is in the library mow because its so old. and i heard the story of the girl who was crushed by the bell when it was delivered in the 1800’s. people who say there isn’t a bell need to walk into the longwood library and head straight, its in a glass case. longwood library is open to the public as far as i know.

  18. FYI, Longwood does have a bell! It’s the same bell that used to hang over the Collonades and is now on display in Greenwood Library on campus. Dr. Jordan (Anthropology Prof. who does the Halloween Ghost Lecture every year) is the one “in charge” of the bell and rings it at special ceremonies and graduation every year.

There is a story about a girl being crushed under the bell while moving it from the train station when the bell first arrived in town. Nobody from the school had picked up the bell from the station so the girls moved it on their own with a luggage cart, the same cart still used to move it today, and the bell fell and crushed her.

The story with the little boy is in Curry, not Frazer, and he fell from the 4th floor during construction.

In Jarman Auditorium, Dr. Jarman is said to still attend every opening night and a rose is left for him in a specific seat in the balcony and is always gone at the end of the night.

North Cunningham is built over an old cemetary, land that the school still doesn’t technically own but built on it anyway. The legless ghost as he’s called is the ghost of a man who is supposidly sitting up in his grave and you can only see his torso.

There’s also a girl in Cunningham who is said to watch you sleep.

Room 333 in Main Cunningham is the room that’s said to have the red line around the wall near the ceiling.

The Stevens’ Building (Old Science Building) is haunted by Dr. Stevens. Her face can be seen in the top left window of the front of the building (from Wheeler Mall).

Then there’s the figure of the confederate soldier (the same as the statue on High St.) who is said to be standing guard over the school (or watching for Union Soldiers) from the Ruffner roof. During the fire of 2001 a student took a picture of the fire and the shilouette of the soldier can be seen in the flames.

    There’s more but I can’t remember all the details…

  26. The House that is mentioned in Sailer’s Creek is owned by a friend of mines dad. I have spent many nights in this house. Some weird things happen but not a whole lot. The bullet holes that are still in the wood siding don’t help much. They give you an even more eeirie feeling.

  27. hey allen, im interested to know more about that house where you stayed the night as a child, and if its the one i think it is. please email me investigator@parahistoricalresearchgroup.org if you get this messege. also anyone interested in ghost research/exploration whos in the richmond/powhatan/amelia area, give me a shout at the email address above. i recently did some investigating at Longwood, including the old tunnel system id heard about. turns out theres not much of it left really, mostly the section under “joanie on the pony” area and not much of that can be seen today. id heard there was a remnant of a tunnel openning off main st in some park area but i never found it. i talked with some students about tabb and curry halls and didnt get much feedback.

  28. I work in Farmville and have lived in this area all my life. Sailor’s Creek is extremely haunted! I use to participate in the civil war re-enactments there which required camping out there. I heard a musket being fired during the night while I was there. A couple with us went for a moonlight stroll near the creek & came running back in horror. When I ask my friend what was wrong she was so scared she could hardly speak. When she composed herself she told me that they were walking along talking & both of them saw a dark figure, kind of shadow like of what appeared to be a male. You could see through it and his eyes appeared to glow. Also, the re-enacters that are doctors actually sleep in the house there and they claim that they can hear the sound of bodies being dragged up the stairs, during the night. During the civil war battle the house was a make shift hospital and the bodies of the dead were stacked ontop one another upstairs until they could be later buried in a mass grave. But the sad part of all this is that you cant go poking around there at night anymore, because there is an alarm system that has been installed on the Hillsmans house. This was done after vandals damaged the porch of the house. You can however, go there during the day.
