Real Haunted House

Tabb Residence Hall

Farmville, Virginia

On the top floor of Tabb Residence Hall, there is another set of ascending stairs. Supposedly, these stairs lead to an abandoned abortion clinic that was the site of a murder. Allegedly, the murdered man still walks around the room.

Shoot!!! I was going to go to Longwood University and didn’t. I knew I should. I even went to orientation and stayed on campus overnight. That sucks for me. Anyone else know any ghost stories other than the ones listed? My mom and I want to go visiting. Contact me at teddys_sweetie0506@yahoo.com.

The House that is mentioned in Sailer’s Creek is owned by a friend of mines dad. I have spent many nights in this house. Some weird things happen but not a whole lot. The bullet holes that are still in the wood siding don’t help much. They give you an even more eeirie feeling.

hey allen, im interested to know more about that house where you stayed the night as a child, and if its the one i think it is. please email me investigator@parahistoricalresearchgroup.org if you get this messege. also anyone interested in ghost research/exploration whos in the richmond/powhatan/amelia area, give me a shout at the email address above. i recently did some investigating at Longwood, including the old tunnel system id heard about. turns out theres not much of it left really, mostly the section under “joanie on the pony” area and not much of that can be seen today. id heard there was a remnant of a tunnel openning off main st in some park area but i never found it. i talked with some students about tabb and curry halls and didnt get much feedback.

I work in Farmville and have lived in this area all my life. Sailor’s Creek is extremely haunted! I use to participate in the civil war re-enactments there which required camping out there. I heard a musket being fired during the night while I was there. A couple with us went for a moonlight stroll near the creek & came running back in horror. When I ask my friend what was wrong she was so scared she could hardly speak. When she composed herself she told me that they were walking along talking & both of them saw a dark figure, kind of shadow like of what appeared to be a male. You could see through it and his eyes appeared to glow. Also, the re-enacters that are doctors actually sleep in the house there and they claim that they can hear the sound of bodies being dragged up the stairs, during the night. During the civil war battle the house was a make shift hospital and the bodies of the dead were stacked ontop one another upstairs until they could be later buried in a mass grave. But the sad part of all this is that you cant go poking around there at night anymore, because there is an alarm system that has been installed on the Hillsmans house. This was done after vandals damaged the porch of the house. You can however, go there during the day.

Hey i’m up for whatever. I love the feeling of being scared. If anyone knows anything they would like to share from Longwood or the surrounding let me know! PLEASE! I’ve herd many stories and believe it or not i have met people who have had really weird experiences. (lancer park used to be named Stanley park) and He would drug girls and rape them. One of my roommates had an exsperience of someone holding her down on the bed and it was real. if you want more details let me know.

Regarding the large house at the corner of Appomattox and Buffalo in Farmville… I lived on the top floor for nearly a year and nothing scary ever happened in there. It was built in 1850 – 1860 or so and must have a lot of history, but it never felt unsettling in there. I also lived on Longwood’s campus in Main Cunningham for a while (on the first floor near the main entrance to the Cunninghams.) Now THAT was much scarier than the huge house on Appomattox.

I also had some spooky experiences while shutting down the student union building at Longwood in the 90s. Paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren gave a lecture there once and Lorraine, a psychic, saw a man in 1920s clothes walking down the hall and asked me who it was. While I couldn’t see him, I knew exactly who she was talking about–the man who turned lights on in the building at night behind locked doors, the main who took trash out of the trash can and plopped it on the floor when I turned my back, etc. Of course, it totally freaked me out to have a psychic grin and say, “So who’s your friend over there?” when I never told her the first thing about my experiences in the student union.

Hail haunted Longwood!

Sailor’s Creek (aka Sayler’s Creek) is a large field where the deciding battle of the Civil War was fought in Amelia County bordering Prince Edward County.. It is because of the losses here that caused Lee’s retreat and surrender to Appomattox. There are yearly Civil War re-enactments here, and there is a small white house right on the main road that was used as a field hospital. Through the years many stories of the house being haunted have been passed on and a particular ghostly apparition in a Union uniform can sometimes be seen at the cannons out back at night.

Can anybody give me the address and directions from the Hampton Roads area please. I would like to suggest this place to a paranormal grooup that I am a part of to investigate. Thanks

From Hampton Roads just take 460 West – go towards Petersburg and then continue on towards Blackstone. Then continue on towards Crewe. Take the exit towards Farmville and take the first Farmville exit off of 460 – this will take you straight into downtown Farmville. When you get to Main St., take a left and then a right at the next light – that will put you on High St. From there you will see Longwood University along your left and you can find Appomattox Street just off of High Street at the next stop light that turns to the right. Good luck and have fun!
