Actually from what I have heard, the albino woman had a child with some man, the child was also albino and everybody thought they were witches so they killed her and the child. They buried her in the cememtary but not the child, so the albino woman goes at night trying to find her lost child.

I live near the cemetary, but I have yet to see the “Albino Woman”. The legend that I’ve heard is that she was killed by her husband so she sort of prays on men. That’s just what I’ve been told though, so no one really knows.

There waw an albino woman who lived on the cemetary property and a lot of youngsters thought she was a wierdo just, because of her appearance. They’d go out to the cemetary just to make fun of her. Well one night these high school boys were out there trash talkin the old woman and she probably finally decided to talk back. Of course they didnt take a liking ot that so they lit her house up in flames as a joke. The fire was quikly out of there control so they ran and left the old woman to burn. When the smoke cleared and the clean up crew came to find any evidence of foul play they didnt find a thing in the ash of human remnants. Not one bone of the woman yet she was never seen again…alive anyways

I lived in Topeka,Kansas and I never heard of the albino woman. But I did live in a haunted house: 1407 SW Van Buren. Me, and my family have had several encounters there. Matter of fact, in the backyard of the house, there was a grave. Check it out if u dont believe me. When I was a kid, me and my sister and brother used to ride our bikes over it all of the time because the top of it would stick out of the ground like a small hump. My older brother, when he was younger, woke up in the middle of the night to see a little boy crying at the end of his bed.(a ghost) Yes I know, that is creepy.

In the mid ’60’s I along with some other guys and girls used to go out there on Friday and Saturday nights. It was by the Rochester Cemetary and not too far from the Rochester School. It was pitch dark and we all were hunched together in a car when we heard someone crying. We all thought someone in the car was being a practical joker, but everyone swore they weren’t playing games. Then all of a sudden on of the girls in the car gets hysterical and starts screaming and crying. She said that she sees something walking towards the Car. Everyone is freaking out and the driver started the car and about went into a ditch. Luckily we didn’t. I didn’t see her, but a buddy of mine did and he was really freaked out too and couldn’t even talk for awhile. It was no joke on us from the two who seen her because this had a heck of an impact on them both, not just for a night, but the following couple months. All I know is someone saw something..

There was indeed an albino woman and they are right it was by the Rochester Cemetary. She was an albino and many people mostly kids ( like me and my friends) would go there to try and see her. We seen her once and she did scare us but I think the poor old thing just wanted to be left alone so her only resort was to scare people off her property.

One night a couple of years ago my boyfriend and I and another couple decided to go down to the cemetary. Our boyfriends didn’t believe the ghost story so they decided to go into the cemetary. Around 5 minutes later they came running back, jumped into the car, and we took off. About a mile down the road we stopped and they told us that my boyfriend had wanted to see if they could get her to appear. My boyfriend had spit on her “grave” and kicked it. They heard a shrill scream right after it and they ran out.

about the year 2003 a few of my ppl from my youth group went there. we had two cars. this was in the fall. it was getting dark so we decided to leave. when we went to leave, my father’s truck would not start. we were going to take the other car out. when we reached the road we found that the gates were locked. there was no way out. we called the cops to get the gates unlocked. while the cops were coming with the cemetary owner(that had the keys) me and a couple of friends deceded to walk around. so we walked to the other end of the cemetary. out of nowhere in the distence, through some trees we saw a albino lady in a white dress walking her dog around the edge of the cemetary. i am dead serious, i swear on my mothers grave. i didnt even know about the albino lady until after this happened. its real

This is a story based, again, on some fact but mostly fiction.

There really was a strange, albino woman who lived in North Topeka, near Rochester Cemetery. She used to walk her dog at night, likely due to the irritation that sunlight causes someone with true albinism.

The woman died in 1963, and was buried at the Rochester Cemetery, and reports of her ghost began shortly thereafter, including a report from the Cemetery caretaker himself in 1968.

He reported that he and his wife had seen a figure moving among the gravestones when they’d pulled into their driveway one evening. Thinking it was just a child playing a prank, he aimed the car’s headlights at the area where the figure was seen and got out of the car to investigate. He then saw the figure of the woman kneeling in front of a grave, at which time it stood up, glared at him, and then disappeared deeper into the cemetery. He was upset by the experience enough that he reported it to the police, but they found nothing.

Is there something to the story? There’s enough evidence that can be found to indicate that it’s, at a minimum, based in fact. But, as with any ghost story, most of what you hear about it is over-embellished fiction based on small kernels of truth.

The albino women was a real person. She was alone most of her life. Due to her apperence people stayed away from her. Some children even called her names and made fun of her. Her ghost hasnt been seen since the 80’s. I think that she has left this world. Maybe her spirt finally found peace, or maybe she chooses not to be seen. I have heard stories from my grandmother who lived behind Rochester Cemetry that she has seen the albino women walking out of her woods staring up at my grandma’s house. I have lived in Topeka, KS all my life. I havent seen the Albino Women yet, but i still have unanswered questions about her.

What is her real name?
How old was she when she died?
Did she have any family?
When did she die?
How did she die?
Is she still haunting the cemetry and the area around it?

If any of you know the answer to any of these questions please post.

Just to clear things up, she didnt have a child and she isnt looking for it. So many people say that because they heard it from someone else. People just take the Bloody Mary story and give it to any ghost that was a women. It is very over used! Even if the Albino Women had a child i think that someone would have known.

I have a few questions about The Albino Lady. But I will only like to ask one. Does anyone have any hints on what her ghost is searching for? Albino people are known for bad vision if their albiness is bad enough to make them have pink eyes. And the condition is hereditary. So could someone if they have any idea’s on the answer to What her ghost is searching for please email me or leave a note on my website. Thank you.

My teacher told us the story one day and the main idea is just a woman just wanting to be alone. But to understand her you have to know a little about her life. My teacher met her once. Just once in his life. He was on a bike and his tire was going flat. Then he turned around and about 30 yards away he saw her. Her hair all over the place and he said that he almost didnt make it because every time he got faster she got closer. I will never forget what she said. She said Im going to get you. Im going get you…..ALL.

I live pretty close and have been to the Rochester Cemetery 50 – 75 times probably. I find them relaxing and my friends and I go there a lot when its nice out to just chill. I’ll be honest, it’s late and some of these stories freaked me out a bit, but I’ve never seen a damn thing at the Rochester Cemetery. I heard her grave is near the gate in the nearest right corner with the rest of the super old headstones, but I’m not sure about that. Anyway, I don’t think ghost are real but could be wrong I guess. Like a lot of people have said, she was real at least. My grandma knew her or knew of her. Can’t remember what she said. These stories about her being mean sound completely ridiculous to me, as people who have accounts of her being alive all say good things about her. Bringing Jim Bean is a pretty good idea to the guy who said that. I’ve had a tiny bottle of Gin in the cemetery before, but I’m not surprised she didn’t appear for a sip of that. It tasted like ****, but only cost like a dollar from the new liquor store that was built next to Little Caesars near by.

I have seen the albino woman two times. You dont really need to be scared of her she isnt after you. sometimes there are many stories about her but when you actually see it you will understand it better. the fact that no one sees her is because she only comes on halloween her child is still alive and when you hear her calling him it makes it sound like his name is chris. She is about 5’6 and she died around her mid twenties. She died in a house fire. And the fact is she really isnt albino. Her baby was in the house but some how her baby survived. the one thing that was intresting though is… she also knows your name. she asks you to help find him. She squeals his name. All she wants to do is find her kid. the street she lived on was clay but i dont know the exact address the house she was in was burnt down to the ground and a new house is now on top. people that live in the house now say that sometimes they hear a child playing and then he cries out for his mom

The Albino Woman story is this. She was married to a farmer, who worked the land around there house, which i’ve heard is on the East Side of 32nd street. The woman, being an albino, was unable to leave her house during the day because of her pigments. She was only allowed to leave at night. So when night falls at the Rochester Cemetery, she comes out to socialize with the guests. Another story also tells of her husbands ghost accompanying her. He is always carrying a pitch fork. Now I have only been in the cemetery once, and did not see anything. But I did not remember very much of the time in there and as I entered a “dust cloud” traveled in front of my car, east to west, even though the wind was traveling west to east.

Well, i’m a north topekan and the story that i’ve been told was that an albino woman along with her white dog were treated very poorly her whole life, especially by men. No one dared to date or even talk to the old woman. Night by night she walked from her home in the woods, currently near NW 35th street and Button Rd. in the Washburn University Field Research Land, to the cemetery where she tended to the graves. When she died she was buried in Rochester cemetery. Some daring teens always went into the cemetery and told everyone that an albino woman walked around at night with her dog and scared them away. Another rumor says that when you drive by Rochester Cemetery at night, once you pass it, if there are animal footprints on your back windshield, than the albino lady and her dog have visited you on your driveby. Some say that she favored women over men, so as long as there are more women than men either in the car of walking around, you should be alright. Her grave is unlocatable to date. Some say that it was covered up for vandalism threats, while others say she has an unmarked grave somewhere in the eastern old part of the cemetery. So there you have it, that’s the albino woman, SWEET DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering if anyone knew where the Albino Lady’s grave is actually located in the cemetary. Also, I was wondering if anyone knew her real name?

Hate to burst your bubble but this is all just a ghost STORY! I have lived here all my life. She was a real person but does NOT haunt that cemetary. She had NO child, NO dog and lower silver lake road is WAY out of the way of Rochester cemetary! Get a grip!

To warn any of those who decide to meddle in the Paranormal. The Albino Lady is very much true and yes she decides to go after men before women. but she has enough experience as an Apparition to be able to touch anything and will hurt you, not kill or put you in the hospital. but hurt you enough to keep you from coming back. I saw her fully and I was with 2 other people both females. I am going back in about 2 weeks to put an end to her hauntings.

I’ve seen her. I used to live close to the cemetary and went to Rochester Elementary. kids use to tell stories of how she died and so, of course, being a ten year old girl, I was curious. I already played in the cemetary’s woods simply because it was so close to home but then I started going there at night. my brother and sister were with me and they saw her too. It was terrifying but none of us got hurt by her and I seen her several more times after that, all driving past the cemetary at night. If you do it enough times you’ll see a white flash in the corner of your eye and you can bet it’s her.

This is an interesting story, and believable. If you are an idiot kid, and wanna run your mouth on a website, thats what myspace, facebook, twitter, and chat rooms are for.

Look,I’ve lived in Topeka for 6 years and I’ve heard alot about the albino lady, but my little brother snuck out to the cemetary with some of his friends about a week ago to try and see her. They did not get to see her, but they did see something much worse. If anybody else has seen anything similar please speak up. The boys didn’t see anything so,disappointed they started to leave. Not one to make a 3 am stroll through a cemetary without having a little fun, my brother snuck back in without his friends knowing in hopes that they would come back looking for him. He told me(with the palest face I have ever seen on a human being) that he went back in, hid behind a tree, and waited for his unsuspecting friends. Suddenly he caught a glimpse from the corner of his eye and he looked up. now according to him, the creature was over 9 feet tall, had huge human-like teeth but no lips. It stood on 2 feet and was completely hairless. It was wearing no clothing and had no visible sex organs. He said it didn’t seem like a ghost, but it didn’t speak, only stared at him for a moment, then lifted it’s arm to reveal a chain of some sort dangling from its wrist. He ran back to his friends and they all jumped on their bikes and took off. He came to my house terrified and told me about it, but you could tell he didn’t want to talk about it. Now I don’t know if it was his imagination or what, but I truly believe he at least thinks he saw it. If anyone has ever heard anything about it, please tell me, because I’m trying to disprove it so I can sleep at night.

So about 2 years ago, my buddies and I decided to take a ghost hunting trip that went from Wichita to Topeka. We went to this cemetary and Topeka late at night. It was probably 11:45 P.M. There were thunderstorms in the distance and it was quite beautiful for a hunt. One of my buddies waited by the car and watched it while my other buddy and I went deeper into the cemetary. I was staring at a tree when I saw a tall black figure which looked like it was in a wedding dress peek out from behind a tree and began walking toward us. My friend and I both started running back to the car. We all got in the car we drove the hell out of there. Neither my friend or I knew what eachother saw. We were able to describe what we saw to the other member of our crew who had not seen it perfectly. Both are stories matched up. Later on my friend discovered that he had long bloody scratches on his forearms that looked like they were from fingernails. We are planning on going back there to catch it on camera.

I spent all of my childhood living within blocks of the cemetery and went to Rochester elementary school. The woods behind the school are the same woods that connect to the cemetery. There were days that you could feel someone watching you when you played on the big jungle gym, but I never really saw anything other than out of the corner of my eye. I always heard stories about her and always wanted to see her. The closest I ever got was seeing the archway in the front glowing one night. But when I was a senior in high school I had a date that was coming to pick me up he lived in another state and had never heard the story, but anyways he was coming up 35th street and all of the sudden his car engine stopped while he was driving and then his tire blew, he got out and says that while he was looking at the damage he suddenly noticed a VERY white woman dressed in all white with glowing red eyes staring at him, then she started floating up into the tree. As he started backing away he heard a barking dog and started running and the barking followed him about 3 blocks from green hills. He said he could feel the dogs breath at his legs while it barked at him the whole way, and right before it stopped it felt like it bit his leg even though he never saw the dog then there was loud laughing that suddenly stopped. I do know that when he got to my house he looked scared to death and his leg was bleeding it took him a while to tell me what happened and he was very shook. I also noticed what looked like scratch marks all over his arms. He called a tow truck and refused to drive that way after dark ever again

I have lived in Topeka all my life. Me and my friends went out to that cemetary on my 18th birthday. There was five of us all together. As we went into the cemetary my friend sitting upfront with me told me she was starting to feel sick and bad she just wanted to get out of there. I asked if it was ok if we just went around the circle that is in there to get back out she said fine but hurry. Well we should have listened to her cause we got about halfway thru the circle and then the car staled. We were all scared now and then it started to get all foggy out and we all at the same time seen the figure walk toward the car. We also heard like a pack of dogs all growling at the same time. We heard like dog paws walking around on top of the car and on the trunk and hood as well by this time I am trying to get the car started with everyone around me hollaring at me to go and believe me I was trying but I was defiently not getting out of the car at this point. My friend in the front seat started to hollar and scream hystaricly and pointing out my window. I didnt want to look I just kept trying to start the car finaly we heard a whislte and the dogs all stopped the growling and the walking on the car and the car started right up. And I was out of there but I did look in the rearview mirror and seen a white person like shape with little white orb like things swirling around it. Its safe to say NONE of us has ever went back…..

If people actually knew this poor woman and worked with her, why does no one know her name? Seems odd to me. She deserves to have her name known and be put to rest. She didn’t ask to be born like that and it is sad that no one cared enough to befriend her in life. BTW, I do not believe in ghosts.

Dawn Barnes says:

Actually, she was a business woman in Topeka (I can’t remember the decade but I think early 1900s) she was tormented and ostracized due to her lack of pigment so she finally bought a home near the Cemetary and stayed to herself. People often saw her walking the Cemetary at night with her dogs. I’ve seen her a couple times… once at pretty close range. She has a very kind smile.

ok so I have been to the cemetery plenty of times I don’t live that far from it. I went to Rochester Elementary and trust me she is real. We had some strange things go on at school when I was in 4th grade, and they all were unexplainable. My teachers say it was the Albino lady, of course I didn’t believe them. Last summer I took a friend of mine up to the cemetery and we walked around. Nothing really strange until we got to one of the graves. It was covered up by a bush or a flower or something. I told my friend to come over and look at this. I said the name and the wind started to blow.I felt a heaviness over me and I decided that things were getting strange. I looked over at the office and in the window I saw a shadow, but no one was working in the office. I walked over to the office and went around to the steps off to the side and felt like something was behind me, but there wasn’t. We went back to that certain grave, and right by the tree which was about 5 feet was this black outline of a albino woman, she looked mad like we had disturbed her. The wind started to pick up again and my friend and I ran. Since that evening I have refused to return in fear that she would be there waiting for me. I swear on my life she is real and for those who don’t believe, you are missing out on a lot. I think that its worth trying.

THE ALBINO WOMAN – By: J. A. George – Edited By: The GYPSY

While we are on the subject of cemeteries allow me to relate the strange tale of the Albino Woman to you my faithful readers. The story of the Albino Woman is a ghost story that has touched me in the past and will again become part of my story in the future. The cemetery she haunts, Rochester Cemetery, is located on the northwest outskirts of Topeka, Kansas and is the final resting place of my family as it will also someday be the final resting place of my wife Debbie and I.
This ghost story has its roots in the life of a strange albino woman who wandered her north Topeka neighborhood at night and glared at children on their way to school during the day. As a child she had been mercilessly teased by her classmates. That taunting had followed her to adult hood as the neighborhood children would call her names and yell insults at her. After the friendless woman died in 1963 of mysterious circumstances residents began reporting a glowing white female figure walking in the area after dark especially along Shunganunga Creek.
Often the sightings were near Rochester Cemetery where the woman was buried and near which Shunganunga Creek flows. To this day employees of the nearby Goodyear Tire Factory claim to see her regularly, and some neighbors see the apparition as often as once a week.
It was August of 1964 and I was trying on clothes in the dressing room of the children’s department on the second floor of Pelletier’s Department store which my Grandmother was Manager of. It was time for me to get my new school clothes. School was going to start soon and I would be entering the second grade.
Suddenly the door to the dressing room flew open and there stood a tall veiled woman dressed entirely in black. her red eyes were visible through the dark veil as she reached out a gloved hand towards me. As the arm came closer I saw with horror the pale almost bluish flesh of the arm between her sleeve and glove. I let out a scream and she froze in her movement. Appearing behind the tall frightening figure was the small stature of my Grandmother. Summing up the situation quickly my Grandmother forcibly ordered, “Leave! You are not welcomed here!” The veiled woman slowly turned as I crouched back against the wall. I heard my Grandmother repeat, “You are not welcomed here.” She then ordered, “Now leave!” The tall figure with the red eyes and bluish skin silently glided past my Grandmother and towards the stair well. I ran to my Grandmothers arms and watched, along with the employees that had come running when I screamed, the frightening figure descend the stairs and quickly disappear.
I was to learn later that this was the Albino Woman who had died the next year. I was not to learn until four years later why she had sought me out.
The Rochester Cemetery’s caretaker and his wife had a close encounter with the ghost of the Albino Woman late one night in 1968. As they pulled their car into the driveway they saw a figure scurrying among the gravestones. Thinking it a child playing a prank, they aimed the car’s headlights at the figure, which was then kneeling before a grave. When the caretaker got out of the car, the ghostly figure stood up and glared angrily at him and walked deeper into the cemetery. The caretaker was so upset he called the police but the officers found nothing.
The ghost’s route was so regular that one resident began watching for it as it strolled across his lawn on clear nights. Eventually, he claimed, the figure began to pause and gaze at his house as though it wished to speak to him. It began to pass closer and closer to the house until one night it stood at his children’s bedroom window and watched them as they slept. The man was badly scared, but the apparition never harmed his children.
This was not the only house that the Albino Woman looked within the windows. One hot summer evening in 1968 as I lay asleep, my bed by the window to catch what little breeze drifted into the bedroom. We were poor and air conditioning was not a luxury we could afford so a rotary fan moved the stagnant air around the room. I was awakened by a scratching sound at my window. In my groggy, half asleep state I thought it was my cat, Blue Boy, scratching at the screen. “Stop it girl,” I mumbled. That is when my cat hissed. I opened my eyes to see Blue Boy, her back arched, her hair on end and hissing at the window. I rolled over and looked into the glowing red eyes of the Albino Woman who was standing right outside my window glaring at me with an intense stare that was without emotion. I screamed and scrambled out of my bed.
My Mother came running into the room and saw the hideous apparition standing at the window. “Leave us alone, damn you,” my mother screamed, “leave us alone!” My mother grabbed my arm and shoved me from the room. “I am sorry, OK?! I am sorry! Now leave us be!” My mother yelled as she exited the room and slammed the bedroom door close.
I found out that night that the Albino Woman had lived in a house in my mothers childhood neighborhood. My mother and her friends had taunted the poor hapless woman everyday as they walked to and from school.
I have not had an encounter with her since the night my Mother apologized almost 40 years ago now. But it is said that she still walks along Shunganunga creek and prowls the interior woodlands of Rochester Cemetery at night. Do me a favor will you? If you are ever in Rochester Cemetery and you meet a tall woman dressed in black with piercing red eyes and pale bluish white skin, don’t tell her that you know me or that you know where I live. I’ll have a word with her after I am laid to rest there.
