I grew up in Tottenville, as did my whole family. Whether you are a believer or not, when you visit the Conference House, it will stay with you. There is a feeling there. You may not see anything, but you will feel it. I haven't lived on the Island for many years, but I am still drawn to that house. I am presently looking for a quality print of it. Before you debunk what others are saying, go for a tour and quietly sit there for a while. History surrounds you there.

I was at the conference house today but on the beach not too far off with 2 of my friends. It was around 7pm and the water was very rough and it was already pretty dark out.Out of nowhere we saw an old looking canoe in the water with 8 people in it rowing past us. It was hard to see faces but a few of them were wearing the hats they wore in the Revolutionary War period. All I know is that it definitely wasn't safe to be out there in those conditions and who would want to be canoeing in the cold and wind. That place is definitely haunted!!!!

I have studied and been to many of the haunted places in staten island and acctually studied the para normal. In all my studies I can say this, the whole stretch from the beaches of the confrence house to the end of the block which stretches out for about 1000 feet is said to be haunted. The legend is when two lovers go by the conference house Indians ride on horse back can be seen. Also revolutionary soliders and their wives can be seen walking by the water (which thank to certian women cannot be done at night anymore). I tried to interview the woman who lives in the house and i was told by her there is no way she will tell me about the house.

I lived in this house for 3 years..(1975-1977)...and what I became "friends" with was a soldier who had died on the grounds. My brother was the first baby to be born in the house in 200 years on January 9, 1977...after he arrived the unusual activity increased...we moved to the corner of Bently and Craig a few months later.

what i want to mention is by the conference house to the left is a path that leads to the beach. This path is defineitley haunted. Kids on the south shore throw kegs down there where everyone drinks. I have been to one of these gatherings and as i was walking through the woods i felt chills throughout my body, it was so bad i had to hold onto my friends hand. It is quite clear that there are many spirt's sorrounding you belived to be the red coats. what is now the peir that overlooks new jersey built about 5 years ago creeps me out too!! on the left side of the confrence house is a cellar door that im guessing leads to the basement( i have never been inside), but Every time i look at that door i get a bad vibe. Also for the person who asked if there are house keepers watching the conference house, it is true.

I have been in the Billop house many times...even spent the night. A friend I had...her parents were the caretakers for a long time there.. I never saw anything really, but I did always feel like someone was watching me...just driving up the driveway, scared the hell out of me.. I don't know how the family lasted so long living there...
