The Boston House
In 1901, a woman hanged herself in the attic of this building. The attic, which now serves as an attorney’s office, is haunted by the woman. The woman now haunts the buildings. Her visits occur so often that the story has been featured in the local newspaper numerous times.
I get that newspaper and I have seen no such story. LIAR!!!

I own two homes in Port St. Lucie (just down Route 1 from Fort Pierce), and have seen articles concerning the Boston House in the Port St. Lucie Tribuneand the Hometown News. Drive down the Indial Drive and past the Boston House whenever we’re in Ft. Pierce. Never knew about the haunting until I came accross it on your website.

I grew up in Fort Pierce and i have heard about the boston house for years. We even went there in grade school, eveyone knows that is haunted but this isnt the story i have heard for years. You might want to do a search and check it out, the woman was looking for her family not sure how they vanished but they did. i remeber a newpaper once writing that there was a trinket box in one of the old bedrooms with some dust in it and it would be spread on the bed in the middle of the night.

We went over to the Boston House this afternoon sightseeing. Not being familar with the story of the house, Bev, who is a sensitive, happenned to look up at the attic window and thought she saw a woman looking out towards the ocean. She also had a feeling about the crawl space (underground basement ? ) on the property. Any one willing to comment?

I grew up in Ft. Pierce. I believe there was a sheriff that was shot on second street, near the Boston house, and was taken to the Boston house where he died. This was sometime around the turn of the century maybe early 1900’s.

I killed the janitor in a throw-down drug deal gone bad. The real deal “so-to-speak” is the black guy, janitor–was selling bunk heroin to some college girls gone wild. After I heard about this, I too wanted a “peace of the action” so I visited good ol’ Jackson (action Jackson as we called him.)
He gave me the real product and I cut it up and made bunk product out of it and he got real mad because I was selling the the college girls. From that moment in time, we were sworn enemies.
I killed him in self defense so I got off. He really was NOT a janitor I guess but he lived around the mops & buckets.

the boston house is haunted i saw a naked lady in the window playing with her nipples calling for her little boy and husband….it scared the **** out me she was about 150 years old i seen right through her to the attorney in the back ground…..he was right there calling with her it must have been that darn sheriff they were talkin about above…..that is proof there that place is haunted i seen it…yes i did….

I used to live in Fort Pierce, and The Boston House IS indeed haunted. But no one knows the real identity of the spectre. Some say that it’s a woman who killed herself because her husband was being unfaithful. Some say that it was a couple of kids that were killed by a transient. Some others say that it was a whole family killed over money for food. But everyone who wrote a comment about The Boston House in Ft. Pierce that stated that it isn’t haunted should do their own investigating. And the guy who lives in Iowa should stay in his own state!

I live in Avon Park, Florida not too far from PSL or Ft. Pierce. I have family that lives there. I myself have not heard of these stories about Boston House or Indian River Dr. I am a private investigator, and even though I am trained to go on facts, I have learned that just becouse you haven`t witnessed something yourself does not mean it hasn`t occured.I believe that this is more than likely true of hauntings. Have an open mind!

I grew up in Ft.Pierce and heard the stories surrounding the Boston House and I know for a fact through research at The Fort Pierce Historical Museum located Under South Bridge that a women who lived in the Boston House lost her Son and Husband to The Atlantic Ocean back in the 1900s and she supposedly waited in the top floor looking for there return till she died im not 100 percent certian how she died i heard all of them, it was of some disease, or of a broke heart, or from old age, or hanging herself research it yourself through public files. Anyways The Boston House is now an attourney’s office which has been rumored that some sort of apparition has been seen looking towards the ocean with a face of sorrow I’ve Personally never seen this but then again I’ve never really looked that hard or waited around to see it happen. I’ve also heard The while a secretary was working there she experience the building shaking and the roof caving in at that point she ran out of the room and return later with her employer finding the room in order and perfectly fine. I hope this clears up something about the Boston House. And personally I believe that among The Boston House there are quite a few haunted places in Ft.Pierce and St.Lucie County it has a long history and it has had its far share of natural and unnatural deaths

I was born and raised in Ft. Pierce, but I’ve never heard anything about the Boston House. My best friend still lives down there in the drive so I’ll have to go check it out. We have been to the Witches cemetary as kids, and even though we went during the day, I’d totally believe any stories about that place. I’ve heard several stories about the old McCarthy house there on the drive too. I’ll definatley have to make it a point to look up more places next time I go down to visit. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

With all due respect Sandy. I believe in ghosts more than religion(s). Religion is evil and the cause of more deaths and wars than anything else on this planet. Ghosts sightings are a personal experiences that don’t require years of mass brainwashing from everyone around you. When it comes to ghosts you either believe your own eyes and feeling or you don’t. With religion you are required to live your life accoring to other peoples interpretations of ancient writings.

OK. I live in Port Saint LUcie right now. I heared of the Boston House from a friend. None of us knew anytrhing about it except that it was haunted. My friend and I went up there one day just to see if we saw anything. Like i said, we didnt know he story, but something drew me to the attic window. Much to my surprise, we saw the faint silouhette of a person looking out the window for a very long time. At first, i was skeptical, but then i saw it move around quite a bit, then go away, then come back. I did not fuully believe in ghosts until this happened. I was still skeptical until i read the story of the house today, and saw that what i had seen was exactly what other people had seen. This has made a true believer out of me. And for all you sketics in the area….go there…you will see. I have seen her both times i have visited this amazing place.

My name is Philip I was born in Ft. Pierce. I have heard storys about the Boston House and have done research on the house and have talked to people that have been in the house. They say they have fealt somthing with them in the house. The most populer story I have heard is that there was a family of three back when the water came almost to the door when there were docks not pavement. The story goes that one night a boy and his father went out fishing and the mother went up stairs to look out to see when they came home. She waited all night and they never came home. Its said that if you look in the attic window at night you can see the greeving women waiting for her loved ones to come home.

I lived in Martin/St Lucie County area for 22 years. Back in the 1900’s, Fort Pierce was, and still is (to a lesser extent), a fishing port. The Boston House on Indian River Drive overlooks the Indian River, not too far from the Fort Pierce Inlet.
Hutchinson Island, the barrier island that forms the fork of St Lucie River, served as protection from the Atlantic Ocean.
Indian River Drive, on the mainland was a main thoroughfare from Stuart, Fla (then known as Pottsdam), to Fort Pierce. There were no bridges to Hutchinson Island during this era, it was only accessable by boat until the 10 cent wooden bridge was built in Stuart at a later date.
Many of the houses on Indian River Drive had, or may still have what is known as a widow’s walk on the third floor or roof of the house. These were platforms or “porches” that overlooked the river/inlet so that the wives of the fishermen could sit in view of the river/inlet and see thier husband’s vessel return from the sea loaded with fish.
It is rumored that the woman that haunts the Boston House in Fort Pierce lost her fisherman husband and son to to a storm in the Atlantic sometime in the early 1900’s. She is still waiting for their return.
There is currently (1997) a lawyer’s office in the house. Every so often, she has been sighted walking the widow’s walk. Several people have experienced a chilling breeze in the stairway leading to the second floor, and the feeling that someone was passing by as they were climbing the stairs. Some have reported the faint smell of a woman’s perfume as the hair stood up on the back of their necks.
Fort Pierce is still a fishing port. I think one or maybe two fish houses still remain. I haven’t lived there since 2004.

But i dont recall hearing about a woman hanging herself. The story goes, that her husband and son went out on the river for a day of fishing, and never came home. She’s said to still be watching and waiting for them to return on the top floor of the building. I’ve talked to people that know people who have seen things in there.. like papers being shuffled around and copy machines going off. It’s pretty crazy, and I think its kinda cool.

Hi, just reading through your threads, I’m a paranorma investigator and the only place I truly believe is haunted is FIT/old Leach Mansion on IRD. I’ve captured a few weird EVP’s in there, scary place. As far as the “Witch cememetery’, I saw it up close for the first time last week, mostly family plots which extended back pretty far. The people who told me it was a witch cemetery I thought were mistaken, all I saw were masonic symbols on the graves then as I was about to leave I checked the very back head stone and sure enough not only was it a pentagram, but an inverted pentagram which means for them to have that carved on their grave you have to be very deep into it. I was wondering what stories about the cemetery anyones heard? I plan on doing a full investigation next week. Thanks.

I was born and raised in Ft. Pierce. I have been in the Boston House. And I have heard all the stories about the women. I do beleive her spirit remains there. I was sitting in the waiting room while my husband was meeting with his lawyer, I did smell roses
and a door closed by its self. There was no way a draft could have closed the door. As for the cemetary, if it is the one I am thinking about. We used to party there when we were kids. We never saw or heard anything. Jay, I am very interested in what you find out in your investigation. I hope you will write again about what you find out.

Thats not the story the locals tell. The story is that a women and her husband and son once lived in the Boston House. One day the husband and son went out fishing and never returned so to this day the woman waits looking out of the attic window for their return. I know someone who works in the Boston House and they told me that the ghost kept blowing her papers off her desk so one day my freind got agrivated and yelled stop and since then the ghost has never done it again.
Have you heard about the ghost in the PP Cobb building
its a really old building in downtown Ft peirce. the ghost moves the furniture around at night. He only moves the furniture in a few rooms on the second floor. If you tell him to stop he will for a while. I dont know the story but i have heard him moving the furniture at night. One night i was downstairs below the room and me and my freind were talking about ghosts and she said that she didnt believe in ghosts. Right when she said that we heard a loud crashing noise. Then we heard noises like someone was moving furniture around. the next day we went up to the room and asked the people who were renting it about what happened and they said oh yeah its a ghost. You can hear him moving around the furniture almost everynight.

if you all want to know the real story behind this boston house, i have had an expirience first hand. as i was walking home from the store i was in a bit of a crumy mood so i decided to take a litle detour to see some of the sights along the drive. as i was walking past i looked up into the window of the top story and saw a womans face. i could not believe it! the storys were true. i went to get a closer look and as i was walking up the steps she vanished. i decided to take a look around the house and in the side window there was a shadow. the shadow was what looked like an older woman in a dress. she kept looking out at me and it was freaking me out. as she would peek out of the blinds i could see nothing inside but the shadow would still be there as if a person was standing there. freaky huh? its true man, i swear!
