The Gray Man
Pawley's Island, South Carolina
There is a famous story of a man who dresses in a rain slicker, and walks the beach prior to hurricanes, carrying a lantern. Those who see him are safe and so are their homes. Without fail, the man warns lonely beachcombers of the incoming storm, even prior to any TV broadcast. The man has supposedly walked the beach since being thrown from his horse to his death many years ago.

C.lmalone- check out the old hospital on the air force base, I worked there doing haunted houses over the years and I am a truly open minded person but that is one place I wouldn’t go alone!!! If you need anything else let me know!!!

I have lived in Myrtle Beach for almost my entire life and I have never seen the gray man, however I do believe in all of the stories. My question is on this entire website how does mytrle beach (and all areas surronding) only have the gray man ghost story? We have Alice Flagg, we have the Lucas bay, Old gun’s church, we have an old haunted hospital on the air force base which not alot of people know about unless you have been honored enough to go in there for whatever reason, since it has been closed for decades…. But there is alot more to us than just the gray man don’t get me wrong the gray man is an awesome story however I want scary and the scary where I can go and see not the scary I have to wait on a hurricane to come and then just maybe I will see him….. I haven’t seen him yet…. But now Alice Flaggs’ grave that is scary as well as all the rest of the stories above, since you can go and physically be a part of it….. You need any more info let me know!!!!

“i am the author of most proclaimed haunted places.along with unpleasent nightmares.”
YOU wrote a book? You must have a brilliant staff of editors with grammar like that.
Anyways, all I see is unevidenced support here. It’s not evidence with someone thinks they saw something. Lots of people saw bigfoot but until I see him, doesn’t mean he’s real.

He is seeking for love once more. Everyone deserves to be loved dont they no matter who they are right.

This is a true ghost. I saw him when I was around 9 or 10. My dad and I were on the island fishing one night and when we were packing things up in his truck I saw a light out the corner of my eye. I turned to look at the end of the truck and saw a man staring at me in a gray rain coat holding a lantern. I turned to ask my dad if he knew the guy and when we turned around he was gone. A few weeks later the coast got battered by a nasty storm, a tree fell in our front yard and missed the house by a few feet.

When i was 5 years old my family evacuated from our house on Carolina street in isle of palms during Hugo. When we got to the bridge between iop and sullivans i saw a man that described the grey man from previous stories i heard when young. He was waiving at me as we drove by. When we came back by boat (no bridge) after hugo passed our house was as perfect as we left it and it was one of the raggiest houses in the first place. The neighbors to the right had no roof, neighbors to the left had their whole house knocked down… and so on down the street. we had a couch, pinball machine, and other furniture in our front yard. The dinky fence in the back yard was fine. The water came up just enough to wet a foot of the carpet by the door and then receded. We were so lucky, like eerie lucky. The grey man has got to be real.
