J.J., maybe you should try that as well seeing as your punctuation use is so horrible. Either way, this is to talk about the Hammock House, not someone's grammar. Which as I said earlier, with no grammar mistakes I might add, is a wonderful place to go if you enjoy a good story and history mixed with some local legends. I for one love the stories, but if you are not the type of person to enjoy story telling then this might not be for you. (:

Boy, do all of you people need to go to grammar school. If you are referring to someone using you're, it is short for "you are"; as in, you're stupid...try reading some books you people.

Black Beard himself was not a myth, he was a REAL person. However, some of the stories are a bit stretched. The story they are talking about here has incorrect details. First off the wife they are talking about was his last and youngest wife whom Black Beard captured off a spanish ship and forced her to marry him or be killed. So obviously, the young girl of 12 chose to marry him. After marrying her he left her in his house (aka the Hammock House) and would not let her out. He had a young boy (not a crew member) bring her food everyday. Obviously as teenagers have racing hormones the girl fell in love with the boy and soon word got around this small town and eventually back to Black Beard. So he came home just as the two were trying to escape. Black Beard severed the boy's body in half and then took the girl out and hung her from a tree in the yard. This much is true. There have also been reports from all owners of the house of blood stains at the foot of the stairs that will not go away and mysteriously come back even after replacing the flooring, sanded etc. There have also been many reports throughout time of hearing his wife screaming. There are also many recent reports of this as well throughout the streets.

Beaufort is a wonderful town for history and has so many stories. The graveyard is a really great place to go and has a lot of stories behind the graves. I've been going to Beaufort my entire life and would like to live there once I'm done with college. But I really suggest it and the Ghost walk is quite fun as well.

Seriously. Have any of you taken North Carolina History? Or even ENGLISH! Everyones' spelling sucks as worse as your History. Blackbeard WAS an actual person. I don't know about the Hammock House. I'll have to get back to you all on that one. Any comments, feel free to acknowledge me at nicolesimms90@yahoo.com.

I am going to have to disagree with the fact that blackbeard is a "myth". One of my ancestor's sailed with his crew. His name was Thomas Midgette. The spelling on his last name may not e right. I am not saying that Blackbeard still haunts places or anything and I grew up around Beaufort and Okracoke Island. It is said that if you drive by the house on main street in Bath at night you will see a shadow of a man hanging from a noose on the outside wall.. I've looked, even on Halloween night, lol.. but alas, I saw nothing. And of course there were the stories of how you can see Blackbeard's head "swimming" off the coast of Okracoke Island, but that's just nuts. Idk...

About a year ago, we opened an online store calld, "The Hammock House." This store sells hammocks and all hammock accessories. We are currently doing everything we can, within our power, to get our website on all the search engines. We're a friendly store with an enthusiastic and friendly team of website operators and store owners. We hope there will be no confusion with our store and your establishment in Beaufort, North Carolina since the names are the same.
Please let us know if you have any confusion or problems because of this.

Thank You,
The Hammock House

for the nonbelievers... do your homework... Blackbeard was real... his name was Edward Teach. He owned a home in Beaufort. His ship was found off the coast. I've been to the museum that houses some of his stuff, right there in Beaufort. Edward Teach IS the legend known as Blackbeard the Pirate.
