Real Haunted House

The Kraft House

Pocatello, Idaho

In 1984, after being drugged at a party by a crazed man, a young woman was taken to this warehouse. She was raped while on a chair in the middle of the warehouse, and in the process, the depraved’s gun went off, instantly killing the woman. The bullet was never found. Exactly ten years later, the manager of the warehouse had to stay late to complete an assignment. At 3:59 AM, 15 calls were made to 911 from the 15 phone lines in the warehouse. All the operators reported hearing a woman cry, “Please help me,” then a dial tone. When police arrived on the scene, they found a chair in the middle of the warehouse, and a bullet nearby.

No, Suzy is not my real name and I don’t usually have any spare time but I have a migraine so skipped work and I find this mildly amusing. This is not the original story of what happened in the Kraft building but I don’t doubt that a building that was abandoned for so long doesn’t hold many stories over the years. Many ghost stories took place in Pocatello High School (library, auditorium, winding staircase that was shut off when new wings were built) and the older buildings on ISU’s campus. A girl hung herself in a locker at PHS in the early years, and late at night janitors have reported the scent of lemon verbena accompanied with cold breezes in the library. Lemon verbena was a popular perfume scent in the early 1900s. The PHS library used to be a ballroom as well as the place dignitary meetings (US presidents used to visit), etc, in the heydey of the railroad when Poky was more than just the sad little town it is now and is the site of a few ghost stories. The rooms & halls behind the auditorium balcony are said to be haunted as well. For years a light was sighted from time to time in a tiny room (which used to be where a stagehand would live and sleep) that nobody has had the key to for about 30 years–hence the door has not been opened in 30 years so how was the light turned on? There is a lot of history on both campuses, especially due to the tunnels that run underneath the downtown area. In recent times, these tunnels are primarily used by pranksters and homeless people that want a warm place to sleep but read up on Poky high and you will find some interesting tales! I don’t believe in these ghost stories but it is fun to imagine.

Suzy,

You forgot to add a title to the 792 word essay you just created above. Maybe you can just call it ‘Boring’ or ‘How to Make a Reader Sleep’.

I think i’ve heard about this place but i’ve lived in poky all my life but i heard that there is this warehouse thats haunted a friend of mine had to go to the hospital after going there but she won’t tell me about it but i see her every monday as much as i can.
i take haunted houses as a hobbie there’s this house in mccammon that used to be a hospital. my grandma used to live there i went and visited her. My room is where a woman was killed by her husband he strangled her with his bare hands.
It’s rumored that the woman was having an affair with his brother and he got mad. but anyways i was exploring and it was pretty late i went down to the basement which was the place they kept the dead and i went down there. there was nothing going on even though i had heard crying so i figured it was my imagination so i turned around to go up the stairs i got to the middle when i was thrown from the stairs and was tossed around the room like a rag doll. i started screaming and my grandma ran down with a flashlight and a basket she started throwing the contents in a circle and grabbed me she pulled my up the stairs leaving the stuff from the basket behind us. she bandaged me up gave me a sleeping pill and told me to go to bed. i went to sleep as soon as it started to work and couldn’t breathe i started to panic and swing my arms trying to hit the person. all i remember was the pressure lifting up and me passing out. the next day i told my grandma she said i just had a bad dream. i belived her and went to go take a bath. she was pretty believeable that was until i saw bruises from a pair of really big hands on my neck.
ever since then i’ve been chasing down paranormal rumors and tapeing them so i can show my friends.

I’ve heard a lot of stories and this one kind of sounds good, but it reminds me to much of a movie call white noise with the girl in a chair and a guy torturing her. I’ve lived in Idaho for 8 yrs, and I’ve visited Pocatello hundreds of times, but i never heard that story before. one more thing, the person that told the story about being thrown around, the same story was told to me by someone who knew someone that it happened to. I believe you.

There are many stories about the Kraft house I’m sure none of them are true. Back when I was in highschool it was a creepy place that all the little boys and girls who thought they were witches would go and play with candles and tarrot cards, harmless stuff, but as a kid a bit freaky if you didn’t know what was going on. You can’t go there anymore because it now belongs to Global Food Technologies, my fiance works for them and they have some very hush hush government grant to figure out a new way to process food if you go on there property without prior permission you will be escorted (by the police) off the premises. Fun stories but I don’t believe anybody was killed there and it’s quite obvious that secret rituals no longer take place there.

Hey look, people believe what they want. Over the years stories get twisted and turned into many different things, half of which is not true. The only real way to get to the bottom of a haunting or story is to research.

As for those that believe that no used to be humans walk the earth after death, and that there are spirits, but they were never human? What the heck where they then? There is enough scientific evidence to prove there is the existence of ghosts, acutal human beings that have past, and are stuck on this earth. Peoples heads have just become so cluttered with heaven or hell, and if you don’t believe this you will go to hell or if you believe that you will go to hell, whatever. Life goes on either in the flesh or in a spirit form, like it or not, hey why don’t you try one of these days to research, go to a haunted place, spend the night whatever, take pictures, voice recordings, video. I will bet 10-1 you will find your proof. Its the non believers that are the ones that give us the most scientific evidence anyway.

I lived in Pocatello for 14 years and never once heard that story until I moved away. I don’t know about ghosts, but I hope that the crime committed didn’t actually happen!!!!

Well I live in Idaho Falls and have lived here for 15 years, but that dosent matter. While living hear a various amount of things have happend to me and a number of people I know. I know that there are alot of sceptics out there that call us belivers crazy. Let me tell you whats crazy 100 years ago people thought that flight was not possible and now we are going to space. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. I have been to diffent parts of the world and no everywhere I have gone I have felt or seen things along with others that have come along. My family is Mexican and have been to mexico a few times. When my father was a 20 he lived on a ranch in mexico with his family one night my uncles (his brothers) took off to the city and they left my father and instructed him to please stay home and not to move the pickup. After they had gone my dad hotwired the truck and took off to the foothills with his friends. He came home around 2AM wanting to take a leak went to a bush by a wall and saw some red eyes. My dad thought “oh it must me an animal” and he threw a rock at it he say it made a loud noise he grew angry and went to get my dad 357 colt and shot at it he says that it made teh noise louder. He gre very sacred because any animal even if he had missed would have ran away. He suddly said as my grandmother had shown him a young boy an old mexican prayer which translate to “Hail Mary Full Of Grace Hallowed Be Thy Name” he says he felt a breeze and the eyes had disappeared. He never took the truck again. There are a few things every true Mexican knows and you can ask any of them like: la llorona, the lights in the hills (witches) and a few more.
