Real Haunted House

The Menger Hotel

San Antonio, Texas

This hotel is supposedly the most haunted in the San Antonio metropolitan area. The first of many ghosts is a maid, who was murdered many years ago, and now wanders the upper hallways. Another ghost is that of lady, who is said to have died of a broken heart. Many have reported seeing her in one of the upper rooms of the hotel. The ghost of former President Teddy Roosevelt, who frequented the bar to recruit soldiers for his “Rough Riders” has also been seen.

We went to the Menger out of curiosity on a trip to downtown for the day. I did not see ghosts. There are however a grand amount of noises. These could be attributed to the fact that it is an old hotel or that it stays very busy. I am not sure. There were several spots that made me stop…I became very cold and chills ran up and down my spine. I could not find anything concrete to explain them away.

Haunted……I believe so…..but left without proof one way or another.

I staid in the hotel menger in San antonio and my friends and me went to a room with a huge door way it was on the second floor on the old part of the hotel and there’s was no 1 staing there so we decided to go look around but it was so horrible one of my friends pied in her skirt so I warn all readers and this is a true story trust me I don’t lie or do I.so we went to this hunted room where the richest man would stay in and this room is also the most expensive one in the hotel. And so one of my friends the bravest one of all knocked on the door and for a while we heard nothing but when we were about to give up at exactly 12 am we saw, heard ,and felt the ghost going into the room so we knocked on the door for the hundredth time and finally we heard the ghost and everyone got chickened out and ram of to their rooms except the bravest one of all the knocked on the door ME

In April of 20010, my family and I decided that we would go investigate the Menger hotel and see if the stories about it being haunted. The first night there we found nothing but a few cold spots, and every ghost book tells us that we should see the place before we begin to hunt. The second night we all got up at “dead time”, actually we got up at 2:30ish and took all of our epuipment out and began to walk around. We sat down at a table to begin to review our information we aquired, and we hear a door open accross the hall and a man STOMP out. He was carrying two pizza boxes, and stoped across the foyer to the hallway in the old part of the hotel. It was a little creepy but we did not think anything of it. We continued to sit there and we heard the door open down the hall where the man carried the pizzas. My mom leaned back in her chair and said “dont be scared he is comming back.” He walked straight up to the table we were sitting at and screamed a loud groan, and slammed a slice of pizza on the table and ran, stomping back down the hall way. When we got intouch with the security, they went to check on him and told us he was completely fine, he only had a headache. Was he possessed?? No idea. CREEPY NONE THE LESS!re

My cousin and i visited the hotel just the other day.
and im just curious if anyone has experienced anything i have..
1.walking down a hallway on the second or third floor we both heard a baby crying but couldnt really determine what room it was coming from.
2.as me and my cousin were in front of the king ranch suite i was recording on my cell phone, as i came home that day i sent it to my computer to play it back and listen to it closely and heard a mans voice saying..”come”
3.i was recording as walking through the hallways of the second floor and as i listened to the recording later on the whole time me and my cousin were talking to eachother there was nothing but static and inerference.
well thanks for hearing me out.
i just really wanna know if anyone else has experinced some similar phoenomena

I stayed at the Menger a few years ago. I was in our hotel room with my friend and we were watching tv at about eleven at night, and it suddenly just turned off. The lamps started turning off one by one. It was like the power was going off. We left the room and lights were on in the hallway. We went down to the lobby to report it, and they told us that it had been reported in the same room several times, that they would fix it. On our way back up to the room, we were walking through the gift shop and a ghostly figured woman was sitting in a rocking chair knitting. it was SO scary but i would definately go back. It is most DEFINATELY haunted though.

We visited the Menger Hotel original lobby tonight. As we were taking pictures, someone banged on one of the glass doors over and over very loudly. We were standing right there and there was no person at any of the doors. Shortly after, the elevator doors opened with nobody inside. ?? Don’t know how to explain that. Otherwise, it was very beautiful inside and didn’t feel creepy at all.

To Brina: I took a video moving slowly around the old lobby to catch all of the beautiful furniture and decor. Throughout the entire video, it sounded as if a vacuum was running right next to me and the sound never changed even as I walked through the rooms. Weird.

I go to this hotel every summer, and so I know this place by heart. The only time I’ve ever experienced a ghostly encounter was when I was walking down the hall coming back from the pool and I saw a dirty towels cart and a door open. I figured it was the cleaning ladies. When i walked passed the room, I looked inside and saw a women in a white uniform with hair piled on top of her head, making the bed. I could see right through her. Scared me to death. And when i took a picture of her, she didn’t show up on my phone. SCARIEST THING I’VE EVER ENCOUNTERED!

Me and my friend were out in the courtyard at night (12 or 1) reviewing our ghost investigation, and saw the stairs near the pool that we hadn’t gone up yet, so we decided to go up and see what was going on. We were walking up, (And I was holding the railing cause I’m a clutz) and the railing cut off suddenly (That roof was there) and I was trying to get a grip on it so I looked to see what the deal was, but in the window, (It was dark in there, like just a TV on) and there was an outline, no face, just a black silhouette of a man just facing us. (And there was light outside so we would’ve seen the facial features.) Me and my friend both saw it shift, still in the same place though. We both were weirded out at the time cause we didn’t know what was going on, but I think now I know.

Yesterday after leaving my moms work my dad decided to go to the alamo or river center mall because my mom works downtown. But then my dad wanted to go to the menger hotel just to look around like we always do. I have been to the menger a whole bunch of times so i kind know everything over there.when we entered, we were entering the door in the restaurant and then went to the lobby. me and my sister were sitting down resting and were talking about the spirits who haunt the hotel. my dad ask someone who works in the lobby if we could see a room upstairs but we could only see one if we spent a night there but not today. but we still went upstairs next to the restaurant just to look because we couldn’t even go inside a room. it was pretty cool and really creepy. we were sitting down on a couch with my dad, sister, and I. I wanted to go inside the hallways. I know my sister did not want to go in the hallways. My dad said i could go but i told him to come with me so he did. the floors make really creeky noises because the hotel is really old but we were walking looking around. my dad was in front of me but when we were walking i felt like somebody was behind me, i turned around but know one was behind me just my dad in front of me. I heard a noise but i probably know its the creeky old floors we were walking on. then i took my sister and showed them the king ranch suite. i felt so amazing because I have been at the Menger hotel but never upstairs and never ever at the suite.i heard that people see shadows go through the door which is Captian Richard king or whatever you call him. my dad took pictures of the door and the two of us, it was just so cool and freaky that we were the only people upstairs. not really but the people who clean the are on the other side of the whole second floor but still. we also saw the bar were teddy roosevelt haunts. but i could not go inside because no children allowed. it was pretty cool.it was about 2 to 3 o’ clock when we were there so it is awesome. we were going to spent a night there this summer maybe. With my mom dad sister and me so cross my fingers. i love the menger hotel and are going again.

If you people would just STOP smoking dope, you’d not have such experiences.
