The railroad tracks off 72nd St.

07.23.2005 | 10:47 pm | Plover, United States, Wisconsin

One day, a young mother lost her two sons near these railroad tracks. After desperately attempting to locate them, she became so saddened that she laid her body on the railroad tracks and waited to be killed. A moment before the train came, the boys jumped out the bushes where they were hiding just in time to witness their mother being killed. The boys were later admitted to a mental institution and can be seen walking along the tracks every July as restless spirits.

  7. This story does not make any sense. Think about it. Why would the mother not try to find her kids and just lay in front of a train?

    Comment by scarlett ohara | 06.2.2006 | 9:48 pm

  8. If you read the story Scarlett Ohara then you would know the mother went looking for them. On that note it was a very good story.
    THAT MAKES SENCE!!!!

  15. I think the story makes a lot of sense but what I don’t understand why doesn’t she call the police or scream if you don’t come out I am leaving and then i am sure they would come out that is what I do with my kids and they come just play it as a game until you find them and if you don’t then call the police but never commit sucide thats just retarded and anybody who does commit sucide is retarded not trying to sound rude. And anyone who tries should die and they should go to hell. I think that is where they go anyway and if you try and don’t die I think you should go to hell or a mental instution.

  19. Panda,
If only you knew better…places can have paranormal activity and not be haunted…meaning people can still see ghosts near the rail road but not on a daily basis.

    Comment by anonymous | 08.24.2006 | 8:39 pm

  20. Ok I think some of you need to study up on your paranormal ctivity. Just because you didn’t feel anything or see anything doesn’t mean it’s false. If you truely believed in ghosts and spirits and such you will see something or at least feel the presence.

  25. I’m a 20-year Point townie, and I’ve never heard this story before. I highly doubt it.

    Comment by Brent | 10.18.2006 | 11:00 pm

  26. Seriously, people, learn something about spirits. Just because you went to the tracks and saw nothing doesn’t mean it’s not true. A ghost isn’t gonna run up to you and yell, “Here I am! Look, I’m a ghost!” Sometimes they don’t manifest, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t in that particular place.

    Comment by Bob | 10.25.2006 | 1:58 pm

  34. Ok, that is a horrific story, but, what kind of mom
was she,..kill yourself? What impression is that on
kids, they need their parents, she could have called out, and threatened to go to the police, if they
didnt come out of hidding. What a thing for kids to
witness..my God!!!!…and how do their (the kids)
spirits go to the tracks, when THEY arent even dead?
    just wondering on that part.

Everyone one should just drop it. It was a lame story and the way it was composed should have told you it was a phony.

  37. this is a bunch of ****. if the kids didnt die on the tracks she would have known . also there would have been the remains. also you said they jumped out of the bushes, so that means no remains on the tracks, so what made her think they were killed if there was no evidience, if you are going to make up a stupid story get the darn facts straight, i hate wasting my time reading rubbish, grow up.

    Comment by deb | 02.14.2007 | 5:15 pm

    Comment by Ice Queen | 03.8.2007 | 6:53 pm

  41. I grew up with those tracks running through our property and while I do not think the story is accurate or based on anything that actually happened, these tracks and the area around it does contain parnormal occurances. I believe this story was produced to explain very real experiences that all of the locals are aware of. On summer nights a womans scream is heard by the tracks. Often two boys are seen walking down the tracks within 30 minutes of the scream. No one really knows who they are but they do show up every summer. Sometimes the are preceded by the sound of a steam engine train - whistle and all - no train can be seen.

    Comment by Eric | 06.27.2007 | 10:09 pm

  44. ok this doesnt make any since.why would the boys sit there long enough in a bush for there mother to search around and finally be conviced they were dead and then when she is a bout to commit suicide just like they wanted they jump out of a bush. there just stupid. this thing is probly fake any way.

    Comment by nikki | 07.27.2007 | 4:30 pm

this story is not true if the boys were hiding where they could see the mother they wouldnt let get run over by a train and why would the mother just give up looking for her kids and think ” oh no I cant find my boys guess ill just lay down and get run over by a train now” That stupid

To those of you that are aware of courtesy, respectful conversation, and communication skills. I thank you. To everyone else; some of us are here to gain information and not revel in nit-picking nastiness so if you wouldn’t mind conversing like people will read the posts it would be appreciated.

  50. Does anyone know which house on Hwy 54 in Plover has the little girl upstairs asking you to play the piano? I used to live in Wis Rapids and always passed a Green abandoned house right before the intersection of Hwy 54 and B each time I passed the house more No Trespassing signs were posted. Is this the house? Does anyone have any more information on it? I’ve always been curious about it. TIA

  51. First of all, if the kids didn’t die on the tracks; how are they spirits floating around every July. And if the DID die on the tracks, how can dead people get admitted into a mental institution? Whoever made this bogus story up needs to get a proofreader before finalizing it to a website!!!!!!!

To Brent, you’ve lived in Stevens Point for 20 years and you haven’t heard of this story? That’s too bad; what would be fun is if Trivia would make that place, and all the other haunted places Trivia stones some time. :)

I think it some folklore to scare kids or whatever. They should had done it better, then what been going around.
