Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

The Red House

Artesia, California

In 1911, a man and his fiancee lived in this house. On the night before their wedding, the two got into a fight and the woman was pushed down the stairs; she died. The man then buried his would-be-bride behind the house. It is said that if one passes her grave, he will sometimes see the woman in a white grown floating around the area.

well! then if you think that it’s the truth…tell me how she died by just falling down the stairs!

She would have broken her neck or cracked her skull.

In 1911, unmarried men and women didn’t live together.

Artesia is the next street over o where I live. Is the house by Curather’s Park?? Does the house look like a barn? Im not sure if that’s the house that was talking about but I’ve seen a red house that looked like a barn.

I have never known anyone to fall down stairs and break their necks, it’s basically just the arms or legs. Why are the women ghosts always wearing white dresses?

kristi says:

Some how, i don’t think this is real, only because it doesn’t say anything about actual sightings or hauntings…or maybe i’m just being paranoid, i have no idea 😀

kristi says:

Sorry, I really don’t think that this thing is real, only because it doesn’t say anything about any actual sightings or hauntings of the woman. Or maybe I’m just being weird…I don’t know. 😀

This Story is true… I visited this House… I lived Next to this house… Artesia was Once known as Dairy Valley.. big farm Land. and Railroad Station.. The railroad was recently removed… The Man and woman were actually cleaning the house that was a gift to them from the mans father. and she was not buried in the back yard, Her Ghost appears on the window in the back part of the house. wearing a white dress… we have Documented this location many times, after 2003 we stopped noticing any Activity…

I heard of this a long time ago…….about 25 yrs ago I believe it even came out in the news..There was alot of activity going on in this house unless there was another one in Artesia CA..My Parents lived in the city of Artesia where I was actually born and talked about it when I was small, but my mother does not remember where this house is at.

Letty says:

January 3, 2008, 9:41 pm

So does anyone know at least the street where this house is at?

Hispanic says:

Ghost Hunter: wtf does it being a city that is heavily populated by hispanics have to do with any of this? Sometimes it is best to keep ones comments to themselves, especially when they are racist. Mainly because it does not make for a good argument. Please try again.

Ive never heard of this tale before, but if it is true, that is extremely screwed up. But anywho, I dont get into these little things as much as i do the Amityville Horror Story that took place in Amityville, Long Island, NY. My house is haunted i believe. Me and my little sister hear people running up and down the stairs all night longg. A Old woman died in our house but what old woman runs up and down that fast? Our house was once in the country when it was first built and was then moved into town. I think some little kid must have died or somthing took place from when it was in the country that makes him/her run up and down our stairs.

I remember hearing this story a long time ago. I remember reading that it was a red house next to the railroad tracks. In my friend’s neighborhood there was a red house at the end of the street that sat literally next to the tracks and I always assumed it was that house. That house was repainted gray about 15 years ago.

There is also a red brick house near the railroad tracks on Gridley, but that’s a newer house (I think it was built just in the last 20 years) so I doubt it’s that one.

I still think it’s the house in my friend’s old neighborhood that was repainted gray

It “was” located at 183rd and Gridley. It was eventually torn down. But, I did go to a large “Estate Sale” once with my Mom when we lived in Cerritos. It was red and it looked like a big red barn type house…and when I entered the house, it kinda gave me the creeps. I remember it had a black and white checkered tile floor in the huge Kitchen…all the dishes and kitchen ware was laid out…everything in the house was for sale. I’m so glad I didn’t purchase anything from that house! The house “felt” haunted…and I really couldn’t wait to leave it.

I checked some stats for 2011 and it indicated that there 620 deaths attributed to fall down steps or stairs that year – That does not make the place haunted but it does clarify people can and have died from falls down stairs. Chick Hearn, sports caster, died from injuries incurred from a fall.
