The White Lady
The “White Lady,” as she is often called, is most commonly seen standing in the road. She is often hit by oncoming cars, but much to the drivers’ surprise, their cars never receive damage. There are numerous other reports of demons and other ghosts in the cemetery.

Hey, I just moved to Monroe from Trumbull. I live less than five minutes from Union Cemetery (it is in Monroe by the way). I don’t know what I believe about it, but unless you’re really into thrills I would avoid it. Monroe cops are notoriously tough ********. They take pride in their position of “power” and love to give tickets.
Fairfield Hills, on the other hand, I have never been to but no matter where you live in Connecticut, everyone has heard the stories. Someone mentioned the difference between good and evil spirits before. Fairfield Hill has BAD spirits. I mean, tortured, insane, lost, tormented souls. Be careful. This is not something to meddle in.
Anyone heard of Dudleytown in Cornwall, CT. It is an abandoned village that is haunted. Same heavey, get out of there, feeling as Fairfield Hills except its an entire forest. Careful though, security around sometimes.

I myself do believe in ghost. I have heard stories regarding the white lady and Hanna Cranna. I myself have so badly wanted to go and see for myself. But with my luck she (the white lady)will not be visible for me to see. I haven’t been to Fairfield Hills in years. Last time I was there was when I was just a kid, I went with my mom to see my stepfather but they wouldn’t allow me to go in the room. I myself did not know that this place is haunted, till about a year ago.

Fairfield Hills is my favorite place to go. I have pictures of my son and faces were looking out the windows. Ghost Hunters should go here they would be scared out of their minds. This place is haunted.

I lived in a house on Barn Hill in Monroe, Ct. when I was very young. I grew up hearing stories about how our dog, a german shepherd named Cito, was apparently held to the floor by an unseen force; how a hammer flew down the stairs while my mom was hanging wallpaper in the stairwell; and how the Warren’s, I guess they are well-known experts in the field, told my parents that they would not help my family because the house had an evil presence that would not leave and that we needed to leave before something truly terrible happened. I honestly had never heard anyone else, besides my mom, ever mention the Warren’s until I got on this site tonight.
Anyway, sounds like Monroe has quite a few hauntings… All over Connecticut, really. I have lots of crazy stories from New Milford, New Preston… all first-hand accounts that I have had. The only truly first-hand account I have from the house my folks called “Barn Hill” (as they had called their place Barn Hill Farm) was when I returned there, unbeknownst to me, 13 years later. We were out horse hunting, and there was an equestrian center in Monroe that we went to. Mom sent me up to the house to tell the owners we were there to see a horse. I knocked on the door, a woman answered, and I couldn’t speak (very unusual, as I am an extremely chatty person, especially as a child!), and I felt an extreme heaviness surrounding me, an oppressive feeling coming over me. It was the most frightening feeling I have ever experienced. When I ran back to the car I remember asking my mom why she had brought me to Barn Hill. I had not even realized it was the house until that door opened and I felt an incredible hatred, like the house itself hated me and wanted to destroy me. My mom asked me how I knew it was our old house; all I could say then, and can say still, was that it was if the house had told me. I know it sounds crazy, but to those folks who do not believe, who think I am making this all up… I don’t care. There are some unexplainable things that happen. Spirits walk among us. Some of us are “blessed” to be more sensitive to this kind of experience. The rest… well, I think you are pretty fortunate, too.

To the poster about Dudleytown… I remember my mom telling us all about it. My brother went, but he told me not to go because I am really sensitive to such things. I heard it was an evil place. I steered clear.

Hey guys! Do you know that there is also a place in Easton Connecticut a cemetary off of exit 46 southbound on the Merrit Parkway. This story is so famous that it even aired on a mystery show called Sightings you probably heard of it. Anyway its of a lady in white that appears on the side of the road next to the cemetary as cars drive by. Some think she might be R.I.P. in the cemetary. Check it out and let me know of your experience. Peace!!!!!!

I’ve been to the Union Cemetary in Monroe many times. The first time was in daylight but only so we can see what we were getting ourselves into that night. Later that night I ended up going with 3 cars full of people so I didn’t think anything would happen but when we first pulled onto that street off the main road we parked the cars right there. We started walking towards the main entrance and you could see this statue but it was sort of glowing and turning with us. Everyone ended up being scared and we got back into our cars and as we drove by the cemetary you can still see the figure following us with her body. It was strange. We drove down the road to that CVS parking lot and decided to go back. This time when we got to the front of the gate I saw this lady in white pick her head up and I could tell she had a bonnet on and it seemed like she was coming towards us. Everyone ended up running and screaming so it disappeared. Every other time I drove up there nothing happened again.
I been to Fairfield Hills also but they already had everything boarded up and the guards patrolling. I have a friend who has gone through the underground tunnel with a group of people. Supposely while he was down there they kept hearing noises, so of course he’s going to look back. The second time he heard the noise and looked back there was a lit cigerette on the floor, yet nobody in his group smoked.
Another good one to go to if you are into this stuff would be Green Lady in Burlington, CT. It’s pretty intense.

I really like this site, save for the jack a$$es that pretend they saw something and make stuff up, and non believers that will go somewhere allegedly and say that they didn’t see anything and its a load of bull butter.
First off, going one, ten, or ten thousand times to an alleged haunted place and seeing nothing doesn’t necessarily mean a place isn’t haunted. If proper studies were to be made, I would bet that some people just don’t have the ability to see, or detect ghosts or paranormal activity. I feel that some people have the ability to see, others can ‘feel’ their presence, while some say that they can communicate with the deceased.
I used to live in East Hartford CT (now in Richmond VA) and was attacked in my room once, I had these shadows of things swirling around my ceiling, was grabbed (I couldn’t see anything but felt hands all over my body) and had several occurrences involving the paranormal, most of them when I was the only person in the house.
That being said, to comment on Jennifer’s note, I too have heard of the green lady, when I lived in CT I was told of her, and that she was apparently an apparition that came to in the form of like a witch on a broom at a cemetary. I didn’t believe the witch part….
There are plenty of haunted places in Connecticut. I knew of a park in East Hartford, I can’t remember the name of it, but I am 99% sure it was right off Burnside Avenue, across from a KFC, I remember the road to have some SERIOUSLY sharp turns right there. There is an old school house in the front of a park, there’s a few baseball fields there, for I played 13 yr old league ball there, and rumors say that there is a woman that walks around in the place at night. I drove by one night and saw a light that looked as if it was moving around, as if someone had a flashlight and was in the building. But it has been closed off to the public ever since I can recall…
I was just in Colonial Williamsburg, VA, and got some eerie photos on a digital camera. Most photos were clear and had nothing in them, however 3 had several orbs flying around, and they just happened to be the places that had the most paranormal activity per our guide. If anyone is ever in the area, you should go take a tour, just find the Williamsburg Visitor’s center and ask about the Colonial Williamsburg ghost walks, I think they’re 12 bucks for a tour, and its pretty cool. Even if you see nothing, the stories will give you goosebumps!
You also have several stories about the White Lady, and I also love the tale of Dudleytown. Its hard to study Dudleytown because of moronic people that almost burned down the entire forest. So people, let’s cut the nonsense and leave this site to those who have truthful experiences, and a note/suggestion for both believers and non-believers: Don’t be scared to believe in the unbelievable, however do not automatically conclude that something is paranormal because you have no explanation for it! Happy hunting everyone!

I myself have been to Union a few times, Ive never seen anything. Ive taken pictures, a tape recorder, nothing! I have to go back there sometime in the next few months, I’m not sure if anyone else has seen this but in the spring time there is one single tombstone which has little purple wild flowers growing all around it, its very pretty and eerie seeing as how its the only one. Ive felt things there during the day, really odd loud creaking noises, I felt “drawn” to one particular tombstone of a 17 year old girl. But the main reason why I’m writing, does anyone live in the fairfield or Redding area? I found a very old, very hidden cemetary in Redding, The Hopewell burying ground, by far that has to be the scariest place I have ever been, I’ve heard loud banging noises, horses walking and what I can only describe as surround sound growling, I found info on it years ago but I can’t find it anywhere now! And as for Fairfield, Lake Mohegan, the cascades, the house on top of the hill, Ive been inside and experienced some very very strange things, the only thing I have witnessed with my eyes was a candle flame going horizontal and burning blue. Ive gone with groups of people some claimed to have been pushed, other says they have seen things, hair pulling ect. The only thing i feel is an extreme temperature drop when you get about 50 feet of it. Other people claim absolutely nothing has happened there, and its just an old abandon house… I cannot find any information on the house, at least any real, solid true information, like newspaper articles. People say alot of occult and satanic things happened, I actually went there today and took some pictures, regaurdless of whether or not the stories are true, there is definetely something eerie about that place and I’m very curious to find out what it is! any info would be greatly welcome!

Union Cemetery was pretty creepy. I was there a few years ago…took some pictures and stuff. I felt it was worth the experience even though I didn’t see this “White Lady”. There were a few things on our pictures, and I’m not talking about those ever popular “orbs”. There were mists and strange red lines coming from the tree in the middle of the cemetery. But I didn’t see any apparitions.
As far as Dudley Town goes – I’ve lived here in Kent for about…10+ years. I’m about a 2 minutes drive from one of the entrances to Dudley Town, and naturally when I was in high school we ventured up there. I will admit it was quite the experience. When you throw a rock into woods and something throws one back to you, it’s nerve rattling to say the least.
BUT – I don’t recommend going there. The place is cursed number one, but number 2, the state cops patrol here since they’re such small towns, and they’re P*****. I don’t suggest you even attempt it unless you’re willing to pay the fine. An interesting note though – I was there during the day once and it’s actually pretty interesting and calm. Creepy, but calm. It’s true, there’s not any animals in there, no birds…nothing. But seeing the foundations is pretty neat and there’s a lot of endangered plants there. There’s also nutso people who live around the property though…and they also call the cops.
Enjoy!

Union Cemetary is in Easton not Monroe. Many people in Fairfield Hills took there lives and had there lives takin. The place is haunted! I used to work for a blood lab and picked up from the morgue and one day it was raining and i went inside to get the blood and i came out it put the **** in the car and i came out of the car and there was this girl standind in front of me and sked me what i was doing and i told her, she asked me again what are you doing i told her again i looked back in the car i came back out and she was gone. I looked all around to see where she went and i could not find her.

I went to union cemetary and I got asked to leave by cops. When I went to start the car, both headlights were out. The cop said she wasn’t surprised because this happens all the time there. Both headlights blew at the same time and I had to have them replaced.

The other night some friends and I went to the road that the White Lady is supposed to walk down. There aren’t any cops guarding it…its a freakin road guys. Anyway. She walks between Union cemetery and some other one. We didn’t see anything at all and we were there for a while. However, you want to see/feel some spooky ****, head on over to Union Cemetery. You can’t go in (cops patrol it vigilantly) but even being near it is enough.
