Real Haunted House

Thearosa’s Bridge

Wichita, Kansas

When this area was first being settled, a woman named Thearosa lived near this bridge along with her children. Though the exact details are unclear, Thearosa eventually killed her children and then herself. Today, she haunts the bridge. The weather on the bridge is never the same as anywhere else in town. The bridge has also been set on fire several times; investigations reveal nothing.

My friends and I went out there one time when we were in High School, I am 25 now and currently live in Valley Center, at the time we all lived in Wichita. We didn’t have too much happen, however our phones faded, not the signal but the display which is weird and so did the car headlights. It was pretty cold and windy, but not off the bridge. We were on the cement bridge to start but then we decided to go over to the ruins of the old bridge. After looking around a while we decided to leave, but couldn’t find one of the people who was with us, nothing mysterious happened so don’t get excited he was just trying to scare us. We went back to the car and then I saw a figure standing in the doorway of this farm house, the man was holding a shot gun. This is not a joke or my imagination, he came out of his house and pointed it at my now brother-in-law. Scared the **** out of us and needless to say we have never been back. By the way on the way back into town the police pulled us over. So be careful going out there as to not disturb the people who do currently live there. We were not destructive or anything but apparently we made him mad. If it is haunted we didn’t stick around long enough to find out.

The story i heard about her is different….

A long time ago a lady named Thearosa had a baby. The baby was not white and her town threatened to chase her out of town if she did not get rid of the baby so she put the baby in a sack and throw it over the bridge. When she realized what she had done it was to late. She tried and tried to find the baby but never did. She swore she would find and so now she haunts the bridge, looking for the baby she lost

Theorosa is the name of the bridge people! it was named by a farmer that owned it before it burnt down. The bridge was later known as 109th street bridge. The name of the lady that threw her baby off the bridge is Rosemarie not Theorosa!

okay i went to the 109th st bridge on 7/13 which was on sunday with a big group of friends. Based on all the comments i have read in this website, i don’t know whether i went to the right bridge. We drove all the way from wichita and we went to the 1st bridge which was located between 109th St and N Meridian St. Imagine you are on N Meridian St, and once you see 109th St, turn to your left and you will see the bridge with a lot of paintings on the bridge. Okay I don’t think I am going to elaborate here more because I need to write down my experience in my blog. If you wanna know more, you can click on my nick that will lead to my website. I will leave a comment again. Be right back!!

I have just finished writing my blog on theorosa’s bridge and i have divided this story into 3 parts. Feel free to view my blog at http://laughingsue.blogspot.com/
You can see more pictures on the bridge since it’s hard to find any pics of the bridge in the internet.

I am a communication engineer and programmer and I am interested in joining a professional team to scientifically investigate this and other sites in the area. I would also appreciate detailed location information about the cemetery location and the location near Lyons and McPerson mentioned above as they are in my neck of the woods.

I went when I was a kid and there is something not right about the place. Best I know how to describe it is a sense of dread. We went of an evening and we called out three time to her (taunting her, asking her why she killed her baby) and then the noises began and this intense feeling of making a mistake came over us. We ran out of there as fast as you can imagine. I always feel like we provoked something never feel good about what we did that night, when I think back. You go there and you will see what I mean, most of my friends have been once.

I went to this bridge in the late 70s 3 times. The real bridge is on private property. The first time, the skeptic I was, was a Friday night and a full moon. We parked on a dirt road leading up to the burned out bridge. I sat there on top of the remaining structure for a couple of hours and nothing happened. I though it was just a good “ghost” story. So I shared it with a couple friends who became very curious. On my next trip we drove up to the structure and turned the car around. Saved alot of walking. My friend and I got out of the car for only a few minutes. We heard some strange noises so we got back in. We sat there for a few minutes and then heard the sound of water lapping against the shore. Only the noise was coming from the trunk area of his hatchback. I asked if he had any liquid in there and he said no. By this time my girlfriend was on the back seat floor under covers crying hysterically. we knew it was time to leave. After leaving the property the noise ceased immediately. We went back to the barracks (yes, I was in the AF). We shared a couple beers and talked about our experience and my friend went to his room. Suddenly, my girlfriend became hysterical and unresponsive. She kept warning me if I ever went back “they” would get me. Who would get me I asked. She said, “the indians”. OK, so now I’m concerned and want a witness. I get my buddy out of his room and he’s freaked sking his head. I don’t know what to do…I don’t know what to do. Sudddenly, she snaps out of it and doesn’t recall anything. The next day I’m at work and she calls seemingly happy. She met a stranger (an old man) who gave her a medallion of a guardian angel to watch over her. Several hours pass and she calls back upset again. She talls me that the face of the angel on the medal looks like a skull. So, I ask her to meet me with the medallion. She does and the face appears like a skull. I sit her down in a chair and have her close her eyes. I talk with her and while we are speaking I silently break the chain, holding the medallion, between my legs. The moment it breaks she breaks into hysterics asking me if I just broke the chain. She told me she never heard me break the chain but was overwhelmed by a great sense of fear. Now I’m freaked. I call a pries t for some spiritual guidance. The long and short was—stay away. Several weeks passed and the story had made it rounds. A few brave souls sought to go out to the bridge again. My friends answer from my second visit – no way. I took them – showed them where to go. As for me I wasn’t quite ready to face that again.

there is nothing scary about the bridge I went there two weeks ago, we took pics, and it was actually very calm and peaceful nothing scary happened. Our car started right up, our keys didn’t disappear, we didn’t hear nothing or see anything but trees, water, and the bridge.

I was born and raised in valley along with my older brothers. We lived there in late 60’s thru seventys.I have known this story all my life and I am 40 years old.One of my brothers have told me since the day it happened how they went out on a church bus in the 70’s and stopped on the bridge.he said the preacher got out and said a message and a lady in a bright light came up the river bank thru the trees they got on the bus and took out,as the bus left he said he saw her come across the bridge and went on top of the bus.he said you could see the light for a little bit as they drove away.I also heard a story where years ago a cop looked over the bridge and he got scratched down his face with fingernails. There should be a group of people that were on that bus if this is true, and records of a cop bieng scratched.

My sons went to the bridge last year and didn’t tell me. They drove my car on it. It died and they had to push it off the bridge and have it jump started. This was on a Friday night. Hubby had to replace the battery Saturday. Had to have the car towed in on Monday and found out that some sensors had gone bad.
The mechanic said that shouldn’t happen at all.
Coincidence or Theorosa? You decide.
By the way – the boys said that if they go to the bridge this year, it’ll be in their friends’ cars.
