Thearosa’s Bridge
When this area was first being settled, a woman named Thearosa lived near this bridge along with her children. Though the exact details are unclear, Thearosa eventually killed her children and then herself. Today, she haunts the bridge. The weather on the bridge is never the same as anywhere else in town. The bridge has also been set on fire several times; investigations reveal nothing.

Thearosa’s Story
I do not know if this is the true story but this is what I have heard.
Thearosa was an early pioneer woman who settled with her husband near the creek. One day while her husband was away (the story does not say where he was) Thearosa’s homestead was attacked by Indians. She took her three children and ran to the creek to hide. When she realized that she could not escape she drowned her children and then was killed.
My husband has been there many times and has seen the blue/green orb of Thearosa and has had his car stall on the old bridge many times. He said that if you stand on the old bridge and tell Thearosa you have her children she will come to you. He says that the last time he was there that the bridge is no longer there. There is a new concrete bridge there but the old one was lying in a farm field. He also said that the foundation that is out there is not Thearosa’s as they did not use concrete for foundations back then, well not in homesteads.

My buddy and I went to the bridge a year or two ago. We decided to take my camera and his viseo recorder. His recorder was fully charged. Once on the bridge, his camera went dead in about one minute. I was provoking her by just saying things like, “Thearosa, we have your baby”. All the while I’m snapping pictures with my camera. It was I think in November. Not a really cold night, but, on that bridge it was ice cold in some spots, not all. Got the camera back to my computer hooked it up, and, about crapped myself. In the picture you can clearly see a woman, a baby, and, multiple faces. It was all in some sort of weird mist, that was not there when I was taking pictures. Very creep. We went back one more time and saw nothing

Some friends and I went out there about a year ago on a girl’s trip. While we were on the bridge some high school boys told us they would show us the original bridge site so we followed them along the bank to the original site of the bridge. I was snapping photos the entire time and got some amazing orb shots. It was definitely cool.

I had stumbled on this site by pure luck. I have to admit; I got a kick out of some of these stories here on this page.
I had heard of this bridge since I was a kid myself and I have got to tell you To please be careful of deaing with the spiritual world. Especially on the night of Samhain or as it is known today as Halloween. The relm that seperates the spirit world from our world is very thin that night.
I’ve been to the original bridge when it was wood and Iron old and rustic. It was so weak from the weather that it would not take the weight of a car. My personal experiences was it was a bridge where a bunch of kids trying to spook each other. But I am a tad bit more spiriual and respect her. She will appear to those who tresspass her territory, can you blame her? The cross is a reminder that someone had died there, show some respect for the dead and quit taunting her she had lost a chid and was murdered by her people. If you want a spookey story go rent a dvd or go see a movie but leave this poor soul alone.
If you have to go out there anyways take a baby’s rattle and leave it as a gift for the child. When you turn to walk away you may hear the rattle being shaken. That is how I know it is a true story; I had done this about 35 years ago.

the bridge is located in valley center, off 109th street, between west street and 24th. theres this bridge that you cross over in the road, but thats not the real bridge. if you look around, theres a corn field thats privately owned, and you have to walk through it for like a mile to get to the real bridge. just walk STRAIGHT through it, until you get to a forest type of thing, and theres a trail that goes back into a forest. if you take that trail, the bridge is like 50 feet from the beginning of it. but since the field is privately owned, the farmer that lives there will shoot people if he sees them. so go at like 2am, and stay on the opposite side of the field from his house.

On Saturday night, May 14, some of my crew and I did a paranormal investigation at the bridge. At one point during the investigation, Bryan was running his EMF meter and it had a huge spike, from 0.1 to 5.9 instantly, and at that time he said something we snapped a picture in his direction and photo revealed an orb above his head. Another photo from under the bridge showed a white mist with an orb very near it. We never saw the mist at anytime but it showed up on the camera shot. We did the saying on several occasions and not once did we feel any presence. I even went as far as to say I think her “legend” seems more like a Disney fairytale than anything else and nothing happened. As of now, 5/23, we are still trying to filter out the EMF’s we took because of the heavy traffic over the bridge and on Meridian that evening.

When I was at thearosa’s bridge with a few friends, we parked roughly five minutes running distance away from the bridge. When we were walking the bridge, we heard strange bizarre noises that I simply can’t explain. There was whimpering sounds that couldnt be identified or pin-pointed where it was from. When we were freaked out because one of my friends started to panic, we ran back to the car and started driving away. However, roughly three seconds into driving, our car’s lights died and the car started malfunctioning. I was in the passanger seat so I KNEW the driver was not trying to just pull a prank. She even let me try to fix the lights but nothing worked. We finally pulled aside on the road in the dark night and locked up. We heard tapping on the back windows and passanger door. After roughly 5 minutes our car automatically lit up and was able to drive off with lights. When we pulled into the first gas station we saw we decided to look around our windows and doors. There were handprints that seemed to have dragged from some of the windows. We saw the hand indentures were created after we were on the dirt road so we knew we did not create them before the trip. Very interesting place. My husband even said when he went with some friends, their radio randomly switched from a radio channel to some creepy opera.

She was walking on the bridge with her son and he fell in while walking on the edge. She jumped in after him, but when she found him, he was dead because he hit his head on the bottom of the river. She went crazy, killed her children, then eventually committed suicide.

Hi. I took my daughter and her friends there about three or four yrs ago on Halloween night. We may have been on the wrong bridge on that same road, though. But we saw nothing, one of my daughter’s friends even called out saying ‘I have your baby’ and was down below the bridge in the creek, and I took pics. Nothing. :/

I went to the bridge last night. My experience was extreme sorrow. Her energy force is still there. Very sorrowful. Visitors there looking for excitement make her very sad. Put yourself in her place for one moment. She loved this baby. She was in love with the babys father. She never wanted to hurt her baby. She wanted for the baby and herself to be free. Everyone does things in their life when they look back then realizing it was a horrible mistake. If you visit this place, visit with different eyes, knowing what a terrible tragedy happened here.
