Real Haunted House

Thearosa’s Bridge

Wichita, Kansas

When this area was first being settled, a woman named Thearosa lived near this bridge along with her children. Though the exact details are unclear, Thearosa eventually killed her children and then herself. Today, she haunts the bridge. The weather on the bridge is never the same as anywhere else in town. The bridge has also been set on fire several times; investigations reveal nothing.

I cant belive the **** I read on here. THERE IS NO GHOST OUT THERE. PERIOD. END OF STORY. Ashlee is right there is nothing out there but animals. TAKE IT FROM THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN VALLEY CENTER. I have been out there 5 times and nothing ever happens. People get spooked because of the cross out there and they want to see and hear **** so they do. I REPEAT, THERE IS NOTHING OUT THERE.

I used to live in Wichita and I heard about this bridge and i cant believe its on the internet. I heard that there was an old guy trying to kill them all and when they went to the bridge the guy hit them with a huge pitch fork and killed her and her kids who cares what the true story is if everyone heard about it must be true!

This story may or may not be fact, however the idea that some of you have been there and experienced nothing, and then try to tell everyone the story or tales are fake, is ridiculous. Ditch your scotomas, open your mind, and don’t show up there with a huge group of drunk or drug induced people.. There are limits to situations like these.

I am known by most as Whoosah. I have lived a mile from the bridge for 28 years and have visited it quite a few times. I don’t know if it is truely haunted or not, I haven’t had anything happen while I was out there, yet. I’m not shure on the accuracy of the story but I did hear someone say that Thearosa was an indian woman who lost her baby to some settlers when they found out that she was a single mother raising an infant. The settlers were not pleased and threw the baby in the river where the bridge was located. I’m not shure what happend to Thearosa but I hear that after her demise she supposedly spends an eternaty looking for her baby. The rule of thumb is that when you get to the actual bridge (which was burned down by the way, twice) you antaganize Thearosa by saying “Thearosa I have your baby!” and bad things may happen.
The actual bridge is at west of 109th and Meridian but when you get to the first concret bridge you have to get out and walk a around 100ft or so, North of the bridge along the hedge row and find what is left of the old wooden bridge in the trees. From there your on your own. As being native to the area we all know that many people come out to see the bridge but what I think thats important is not tearing up the area and trashing the place. There are still people who farm the field next to it and I think he has to be a pretty good sport about not calling the police. So be safe and have fun but don’t trash the place, please.
By the way, there is no correct story to Thearosa’s Bridge. There was a book published when I was about 16 by a woman who I dont know her name. That is one of storys that I know of and on the book it states that it is fictional. The story that I mentioned above is the one that I grew up hearing though. Happy Haunting……

The local gas station laughed at me too when I asked where Theorosa’s Bridge was…i was pretty mad at this time because i got lost twice looking for it because no one told me that i have to turn left on 109th street. So tonight…i’m going…and telling Ms. Theorosa that I have her child..mwahaha!

I have never been to the bridge but I have heard a story from a friend. He said he went out there with his mom and a friend. He said they did see a figure and some weird things happened. I was told an Indian Girl got pregant by a white cowboy and her tribe was against it and told her to either get rid of the baby or leave the tribe so she threw her baby over the bridge. She goes back and haunts it to find her baby and if u say therosa I have your baby she will go nuts and attack you..I guess the word is. I told my friend I wanted to visit this bridge and hope to experiece something and maybe get some pictures.

okay first of all….you guys who think you know the story…are sooo wrong. so far while reading this comments…NONE of you live in valley center…but i do. i used to ride my bike out to the bridge every other day during the summer….my friend lives right beside the bridge..when you go past the bridge and around all the curves..she lives there. and i just think its funny how you guys keep saying all these BS stories…one of them said she was driving…THEY HAD NO FREAKING CARS BACK WHEN IT HAPPENED! nice try though! not!! and thats not even the real bridge now..it burnt down awhile back and they had to rebuild it a couple times….and now its just a bunch of my friends that go there and smoke at night. if you go there..you’ll see a bunch of babies in the water (fake ones)..so dont freak out. and just because the bridge was rebuilt….doesnt mean shes not there anymore….shes there.

OK, everyone I am 24 yrs old and I have lived in valley center most of my life until I moved to wichita. Now listen Theorosa is real you have to be open minded in order to actually see or hear anything, when I went out there I seen her shadow walking the creek and I heard her baby crying, I also have had car trouble, so when you go do not park on the bridge park in front or in back, my head lights would not come on and ever since my headlights have had a short in them. SO PLEASE IF YOU GO OUT THERE BE RESPECTFUL TO HER AND HER BABY, AND PLEASE DON’T PARK ON THE BRIDGE OR YOU MAY NOT MAKE IT HOME.

The story of Theorosa has been around for a very long time. When I was a teenager I used to go to the bridge late at night with friends. The bridge used to be down a lane of thick trees and it used to be a blocked road because the bridge was an old iron bridge that had the wood bottom that had been burned out. The road was unusable. The story that I got was that an indian woman was crossing the bridge with her baby in her arms. The river was swollen from flood waters. The current was to swift and Theorosa was knocked down and her baby was carried off in the water. Overcome with grief Theorosa jumped into the flood and went searching for her baby. She still walks the riverbanks trying to find the child that she lost. Yes there have been many scary times for me at that bridge. When I was 14 we went to the bridge and said the Theorosa name 3 times. At first nothing happend. Then as we were about to leave you could hear walking in the sticks and crying. We stood very still. Someone whispered in my ear… “Where is my baby?” Prank???? maybe but I was there and the ear that was whispered into? No one was there!!

Hey me and my little bro live like really close to this place it might be true and it might not. But like we know that something is like really out of the ordanary over there and there is like little lights blinking all the time one time we were going to see what it was with our stepdad, we heard moaning and the lights were brighter than usuall and we went there in the morning and the brigde looked like it was just built so the next time you have a loose screw in your head go to the bridge but if you go at night dont scream i hear it all the time. i try to sleep sometimes.

If we hear anything we are really going to try to piss her off as much as possible and yes i will park on the bridge like a dumb@$$ just take my keys and not be retarded like the dude that left his on the dash. it will be even more funny if its a bunch of drunk hicks trying to scare people.
