Thearosa’s Bridge
When this area was first being settled, a woman named Thearosa lived near this bridge along with her children. Though the exact details are unclear, Thearosa eventually killed her children and then herself. Today, she haunts the bridge. The weather on the bridge is never the same as anywhere else in town. The bridge has also been set on fire several times; investigations reveal nothing.

A few days ago I was perofrming a Ninjitsu mental connections exercize. We did this on the bank of the Arkansas river in Wichita. I sensed nothing strange at the time. That night, I dreamed of a bridge and a woman. This feeling has been getting stronger the last couple of days and is now demanding great focus. Meditating on this for awhile today I began to search the Internet, where I found this site.
Since this will be the first haunting I have ever pursued (not my cup of tea) I’m not sure if this bridge is what I envisioned or not, but I’m going to start here anyway. I will go there but don’t feel I need to wait for nightfall.
I am not a thrill seeker. I am not going to get drunk or to get high. I am going because I feel (right or wrong) I was asked to go. That I knew before I discovered this site. And I am surely not going in order to antogonize any spirits. Envision if you will losing your baby and people coming to the site of your demise screaming that they have *your* baby.
I do sense great beauty but deep loss. I will try to find the old bridge and meditate there, and yes into the night if that is what I feel I must do.

I am sorry for the spelling: exercise and performing.
I re-read it but missed these words. I meant to offend no one.

What gives with the grammar and spelling on here? I’m amazed at how many people on here seem to struggle with grammar and spelling, some can’t even spell the simplest word. Why? At what point did school stop teaching English?
And for those who wonder where Thearosa’s Bridge is, just open your eyes and read the comments on here. I am amazed at how many people kept asking where the damn bridge was at even though the location had been mentioned a dozen times.
And stop repeating the legend associated with the bridge, we know the legend already from the first 10 people who repeated each other.

Last night myself and 7 of my friends went on the search for this bridge. Due to our nerves and it being two in the morning it took a little while to find it. Upon driving over the bridge the first time, both drivers of the two cars had some sort of paranormal feeling simultaneously.
Upon getting out we first took pictures with the camera pointed towards a flashlight at the water, there were a few “orbs”. Upon taking a picture without a flashlight and just the flash of the camera, at least 4 dozen “orbs” appeared on the screen. We then had one person take a picture of the rest, for some reason there were 2 to 3 large “orbs” overlapping my face and mine only.
So we go ahead and simply found the middle of the bridge and yelled “Theorosa I have your baby” three times. Of course nothing happened instantely. But what happened between 5 and 30 minutes later were quite interesting.
Although there was no frog nor floating lights, when just one of us went to the middle of the bridge and the rest stayed on the western end, you could very distinctley hear a baby crying. A few minutes later when taking more pictures, there were several “lightning bolts” and flashes of light that couldnt have been anything of solid matter. On the southern side of the bridge, 2 or 3 at a time could hear distinct footprints/horse steps.
When about five of my friends layed on the bridge in the middle, they proceeded to hear the baby crying and a sort of loss of breathe upon hearing it.
I am one that has never believed in ghosts or any other paranormal happenings, but the occurrences last night has definately gotten me interested and I will be checking into more of these “hauntings”.
I suggest if going out there, go ahead and bring a flashlight, and if you can, go with just one or two other people. Having seven other people around is very distracting and it is very hard to hear what is going on. I know I will for sure be returning soon with just one person to verify these events and possibly change my mind.

Ok heres the deal, i am 14 years old, and tomorrow night i will be going to the bridge with my little sister(11 years old) and my mom and dad. I kinda beleive in ghosts but i dont think anything will happen. My sis is sorta scared about going. My dad beleives that somethin will happen, and my mom does not beleive in ghosts at all, she thinks the whole idea is stupid. Were gonna split up into 2 groups and see if we see anything. i’m bringing 2 video cameras, a regular film camera, tape recorder, and flashlights. I will comment again, 1’st thing we get back. Wish me luck

Me and my friend went out to the bridge last night and some REALLY weird things happend. we walked out to the wooden bridge and on the way there we heard indian war drums along with their cries of battle. we of course were frozen in fear to the spot in which we were standing…but then it abruptly stopped. we decided to keep going and we finally reached the wooden bridge, and when we looked into the water we saw a baby floating on top of the water. then we heard a lady scream and the baby disappeared. then we looked into the forest and saw an indian woman standing there and we looked at her and she looked back and then smiled at us and taunted “NO NO PLEASE TURN AROUND, IM GETTING LIGHT HEADED! IM GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK KEVIN I SWEAR!” me and my friend were completely befuddled on who “KEVIN” is and why a ghost would be getting light headed..then she said, “whoever comes back here will pay” and after she said that she disappeared. we fled the woods and retreated back to our car and drove away as fast as we could. as we were driving off though, we looked to the right and in the middle of the corn field there was a sign with the names “Cole, Kevin, Conner, and Garrett” we had absolutely no idea who these people were but i dont want to find out! we got home and i will NEVER EVER go back to that place!!!!

OK I have heard on story my whole life and this is not it i grew up in wichita and have been to the bridge quite a few times and have seen her she is indian and she is upset but the story that i have always heard and belive is that she was she was and indian woman who was in a relationship that was well not accepted in thouse days well when the people heard of this they had came to her and her family and tied her up took the baby and the man killed the man infront of her then they took the baby to the bridge and threw it off and then killed her the story goes to say that she still walks the banks looking for her baby and if you go there during the night and shut off your car get out and say theorosa I have your baby something horrible will happen now i have never personally tried this for fear that she will do something to my daugther and not me. but this is how i have heard the story and maybe with this insight you will look more into it.

I went there last Halloween. Didn’t see a thing. Didn’t feel a thing. I am a believer in the paranormal and expected at least something, but I was disappointed.

I have lived in Valley Center for almost 20 years and have been to the bridge on numerous occassions. I have never seen or heard anything. Also the line about the weather never being the same on the bridge as it is in the rest of the town is pure hogwash.

i heard thet the story was that she was a young native american and her baby was stolen under the bridge and she hauntts it looking for her baby.
i also heard that these teen guys were non-believers and they went there and said “hey thearosa we have your baby,” and they laughed and when they started to walk away, thearosa appeared and killed them. doubt thats true, but its scary.
