Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

Untitled

Menasha, Wisconsin

During the 1920s, a young boy ventured up the attic of this house to retrieve his missing pet. While there, he became tangled in a rope and was strangled to death. His mother came upstairs to find him, only to see his dreadfully dark blue skin. He was buried the next day. Supposedly, his spirit returns to the attic every September 18; the date of his death.

What Kind of pet was it? How could you get tangled in a rope? If his mom found him the same day that’s not true because the body wouldn’t turn blue until two days after death.

I’ve lived in Menasha most of my life. I never heard this story before. But I have heard that a house or two on Tayco St. is haunted. And I agree with Jade about Chute St., my uncle lives there. His 3 yr. old daughter saw someone in the house that they live in. It was a girl walking into my grandmother’s bedroom. My grandma passed away in her bedroom a few years back too, so it could be anything.

My girlfriend lives in menasha and tells me of things they’d see as kids…They called them deet deets, I think they were ghosts. My mom also sees things but she had a bad trip on LSD in the 70s so her poop could be a ghost

yeah so i live here in Menasha for a while now and i too, havent heard this story, but i know of 3 creepy stories. I know that Valley Road is suppose to be haunted because some groom got throwm off his carriage and his tie/bow got stuck on this tree branch and he was strangled to death. Then the Secura Insurance Companies building on Memorial Dr. IS haunted because before the Secura Insurance Companies was built on the land, there was a pond where narrow pipes filtered water out of the area. It is said that one day, a family went on a picnic by the pond. A little girl from the family wandered off and fell into the water. When she tumbled into the pond, she struck one of the pipes and drowned. People say that on certain nights in the area of the pond they can hear the girl crying and her parents screaming as she drowned. Then the other place is Menasha High. Teachers say there that the basement, theater/auditorium, third floor & old gym is haunted. I guess in the 1940′s there were these tunnels thatwere built to connect Butte Des Mortes school and Menasha High School together incase of a nuclear attack. During a school drill, four kids got locked in the tunnel while trying to ditch school. I go to the school, and many students and teachers say that it is definately haunted!!

My grandparents lived on Oak St on the island and for the most part things were normal in the house. I do recall a time when I was about 12 that we stayed in one bedroom and that evening I heard somebody walking down the back porch stairs. When I looked out the window I saw an older man in a hat and he kind of made a low groaning sound. I just thought it was my grandpa fooling around so I wasn’t scared. Only thing was he never ever tried to scare us for any reason.

The next day I asked if he was out there but he said he was in bed. I realized he would have been upstairs at the time, so I let it drop. I later heard some stories about strange stuff like that happening in many of the houses on the island.

Yah there are ghosts that wander all over the island. Lots of people don’t like to talk about it cuz they are scared that people will think they are nuts. I’ve heard of the old man in the hat on doty island too so it’s not just you.
