Village Hall/Police Department
This house, which dates from the early nineteenth century, has rounded exterior corners, and has been renovated for its current use. On many occasions, the sheriff deputies who stay after hours to do paperwork have reported hearing strange noises.
yeah i drove past this place many a time on my way to school, supposedly the woman who had it built people that demons/ghosts/devil himself left and entered houses through corners. supposedly there is one actual corner that a spirit entered in once, but he can find his way out. creeeeeeepy. it even looks creepy too.

THE HOUSE THAT YOU ARE ALL TALKING ABOUT IS CALLED SWEANEY HOUSE THE FAMILY HAD I TBULIT IN THE LATE 1800′S THE ONLY ROOM TO HAVE ANY CORNERS WAS THE MASTER BEDROOM UPSTAIRS. THE HOUSE IS LOCATED IN BULL VALLEY. YOU USED TO BE ABLE TO VISIT THE HOUSE UNTIL THE VILLAGE HALL MOVED IN. ANYWAY THAT STORY WAS THAT MR. SWEANEY WAS AN ODD LITTLE MAN THAT BELIEVED THAT HE COULD KEEP THE SPRITES OUT IF THEY HAD NO PLACE TO HIDE, ALSO ON THE TOP FLOOR THERE IS A DOOR THAT LEADS TO NOTHING. IT IS TOLD THAT MR.SWEANEYS YOUNGEST CHILD DIED IN ONE OF THE BEDROOMS AND THIS DOOR WAS PUT IN TO LET THE CHILD VISIT AND TO KEEP OTHERS OUT. IT IS REPORTED THAT LIGHT WILL GO OFF AND ON, COMPUTERS GO CRAZY STUFF LIKE THAT. IF ANYEHING THIS BULIDING HAS A TRUE HIST. TO IT AND THERE ARE TOURS THAT GO ON THERE. HOPE THIS HELPS

This is some scary **** if u r a beleaver,but if not and u hear legends about ghosts and what they can do,if u do a some thing thats related to the legend.U might get hurt.I know because I’m a beleaver and had it done 2 me.

The owner’s name wasn’t Sweaney, it was Stickney. I’ve been in that place. VERY UNEASY feeling, immediately. I felt an unmistakable presence following me up the stairs and around the ballroom area. Temp. dropped several degrees.

I used to take my kids and their friend driving past this place aroud halloween. Over and over again..WE would get so freaked out it wasn’t funny. Across the street alittle up the road, I think, was another place everyone called “the devil’s house”. Now, that was a realllllll scary place…It had a tall fence around it. There were two driveways in..Once my son and his teenage friends backed up the one driveway as far as they could, when people came out in long gowns, and pentagram necklaces,and hoods, towards them…Other things happened, but I can’t remember now…But they were scared TOO DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!! All teenage boys…All, too cool to be afraid…But they came home screaming…one was crying….Something happened..Another time we were driving past the devil’s house, and the house with no corners, after several times, the police stopped us…Asked what we were doing, I told them, I was driving my kids past these places to scare them..They loved it….The police made me leave…I said, why? I’m not doing anything wrong, not hurting anyone….They started telling me what all they were going to charge me with if I didn’t leave..starting with a light out over the license plate…Just silly things to get me to leave…They kept saying, “it’s just not safe”. So we finally did go home..This was about 17 years ago. We lived in McHenry..Believe me, it’s scary….The road itself is scary…We did alot of this for years…Not always at halloween…Pretty much any time someone needed to get a jolt….

I have heard about this house all through highschool, almost a complete rumor until I was old enough to drive. One night after work me a couple of friends and a girl from work who knew where the house was took the drive out to see it. When we finally got there you could feel something in the air it just wasn’t right at all. We were outside just standing and looking trying to gain the courage to go over to it, then as my friend started to walk there was a light almost like a candle but didn’t flicker like a candle. With the light we could see shadows and almost made out a figure on a wall. Just as we started to get the courage again to walk up there was a slam and we could hear voices telling us to leave now. So we obliged without hesitation!
As far as the other house near this one the “devil’s house” I hear stories of how at 3:00 AM you can hear screams chanting and through a window you can see a wall turn red with blood. This entire area is not for the weak hearted. There is something that happened here you can tell as soon as you turn down the road. My advice is to stay away and just read about this house.

My friend took me to see this house. I was told that the wife was wiered and that when she married mr sweany she requested that the house he build for her have no corners to keep ghost and demons out. One night mr. sweany had to go away on a buisness trip and when he returned his wife was gone. He looked all through the house and there was one door left open and that was the closet in their bedroom and he realized that there was a corner in the house in the closet. Supposedly the wife was taken through the closet. Its all old wives tale because it is actually a ghost story that my mom read to me when i was a kid, and it was called the house with no corners.

To get the story correct,,the Stickney house was suppose to be built with no corners because the Mr. and Mrs. where mediums.They held seances,and they talked to the dead.No corners so the spirits would leave and not linger behind.Unfortunately,,the house couldn’t be built with no corners,it had to have 1.In that one corner is where Mr.Stickney was found dead.No joke!!!Its on Cherry Valley Rd. in Bull Valley. And right down the st. is the ‘devil’ house.I once drove half way down the back driveway, just enough to see the house,and I was too scared to go farther,and some man followed me in his car after that!!!It’s a spooky little town where weird things happen!!!

so just yesturday me and my friends went to this sopposed haunted police station and didnt see anythin we even went up to the front door but it was closed but wat was freaky was that this creepy guy, came out of no where and asked us if we needed help and then walked away in the dark and he kinda dissappeared creepy yea but haunted i dont really kno!!

HEY I HAVE HEARD OF THE SAME STORY LOTS OF TIMES AND THAT DURING THE NIGHTS THERE IS A CHILD ON THE WINDOW JUST STARING DOWN AT WHO EVER IS LOOKIING RIGHT AT THE WINDOW…REALLY CREEPY..BUT NOT AS THE OTHER STORY…KK HERE IT GOES…THERE WAS THIS PLACE ON CHERRY ST…BY BULL VALLEY THERE WAS THIS RAILROAD THAT PASSED BY THIS STREET AND THEN ONE DAY A BUS CAME BY AND IT WAS RAINING SO THE BUS FLIP OVER AND EVERYSINGLE PERSON THAT WAS ABOARD DIE INCLUDING THE BUS DRIVER…ALSO IF U GO BY THIS PLACE AND YOU PUT UR CAR IN NEUTRAL THIS COLD WIND BLOWS AND THEN IF U DONT MOVE YOUR CAR IT WILL KNOCK IT OVER THE ROAD WHICH THEN WILL GET STOCK…AFTER YOU ARE LEAVING THIS PLACE WHEN 10 SECONDS PASS BY THERE IS A WHITE CAR AFTER YOU AND WILL CHASE YOU UNTIL YOU LEAVE THE STREET..THIS IS TRY ABOUT THAT CAR CUZ ME AND MY FRIEND DID IT AND IT SCARY THE HECK OUT OF US…HOPE YOU ENJOY IT…

me and my friends went there once. we had called ahead and asked if there would be anybody to talk to. they said yes. when we got there the police officer was extremely rude and wouldn’t let us go inside. oh well…

i was just in that place a year ago. my sister, a friend, and i went, and the cop let us look around. and i didn’t feel any strange “presence” or anything. yeah, the place is creepy looking, but it’s just b/c it’s old. and we asked the cop if anything ever happens there, and he said no, not really. it’s mostly just stories. sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but it’s not haunted.

I’ve heard that no one lasts working at the police dept. very long. They regularly go through office help and policemen because after a while too many things happen and people get freaked out. Just what I’ve heard…

I grew up in McHenry…so I was in the schools during the 80″s. Somewhere in Bull Valley there used to be a haunted attraction called the “Bull Valley Scare”. Is the Stickney house the one that I’m thinking about? Man this yearly halloween haunted house attracted lines upon lines of people. Does anyone no of this?
I would love to take my kids now that they are old enough…that is if Bull Valley still has the scare.

I live very close to this house.
And I went there with a few of my friends last night.
We had been on an exploration all night, not expecting to see anything..
But that house…
Was where the most had happened..
As we were pulling up we saw a light in the top middle window.
We turned the car off to see if the light was just a reflection of our headlights.
The light was still there.
My 2 friends had gotten out of the car, leaving me and my other 2 friends behind.
They walked over to the front of the house and took pictures with MY CAMERA.
They booked @$$ back to the car almost crying because they had heard people running towards them. [MIDDLE OF FALL, SO KEEP IN MIND THERE ARE LEAVES ON THE GROUND.]

So, one day my friends and I went for a walk, right? Well, it was about 6:00 in the afternoon, and we turned on this road called Bull Valley. Real creeeeepy, cuz we kept hearing noises and nothing was there. Then, like two minutes later, we saw this house. Looked haunted, didn’t know what to think…

If you all are talking about the round house with the creek in the front. I went there after the Blair Witch Project was released and it is creepy. Statues and monuments behind the house throughout the woods. This house was a hiding point for the vampire cult killings from Kentucky.

actully i kno alot about this place. there was a man who built the place who said demons came out of corners well the place had only one corner and the man died somehow which i cant remeber but his wife was found dead in the only corner of the building

I been attending monthly meetings in that house for years. Nothing creepy or scary - ever - sorry. It’s a pretty cool old building.
