this place your talking about i used to live just a few blocks away the truth is when this tavern was remodled the ghost or most of them went away but they might of come back since the remodleing went away and things are not so messed up some people say when they remodled they removed somthing that was realy old

Dude… I went in there once and I know why I didn’t like it…

as a kid my mom and chuck dated for years and me and my sister spent many days listening to the blues players that played there at night.i hated being alone in the bar during the day when they would get ready for they for that night hated it my mom would send to the basement to tell chuck to bring up stuff and i would run to his desk and then run back up the stairs the restrooms were the worse to go into alone i would beg my mom to go with me and she wouldnt.my mom had many scary experiances there on many occations so if the disgruntaled ghost are no longer there then i can only assum they left with there owner or maybe some people are more intuned to them then otheres cause i still wouldnt go into that place to this day walking by driving by makes me cringe my hairs stand up or maybe there just saying hi to an old friend that they loved to scare as a kid

My sister and I ate there on 9/25/09. we went looking for ghosts. It took pictures of my sister sitting in the booth across from me and in the picture was a orb and mist sitting next to her. Wondered what it ordered? My sister than took a picture of me and caught to bright orbs near me. Orbs were also in the bathroom. Is there no privacy in the supernatural world?

My husband and I stay at the White Eagle every wedding Anniversary. This last January we got the last room on the right-next to the exit. Around 5am I woke up to the exit door slamming which was fine, I knew that people use this exit to smoke and what not. i started to put my pants on to use the bathroom in the hallway when I heard someone run past my door. I opened the door and no one was there. I closed the door to zip up my pants and someone started to lightly knock on my door. I stood there for a second and then opened the door-no one was there! I went back to bed in my pants. After that it sounded like someone was moving all of the furniture down stairs. The sounds were really load. I don’t know if that’s something the staff does or not, but it stopped about an hour later. This won’t stop me from coming back every anniversary, we love it at the White Eagle!

My boyfriend and I stayed in Room #7 about a month ago. McMennamins owns it now, and they don’t do any tours, it sucks. You have to get online and go to Portland Walking Tours, but McMennamins won’t permit anyone to go into the basement because to get there you must go through the kitchen. I wish someone else owned it honestly. There is tunnels that under it that run under Portland. I guess Chinatown or something like that was under it, it was known as the “Brothel of Color” not in those exact words, but you get the idea. Since it used to be a Saloon and had those tunnels, they would “shanghai” people. They’d get drunk, and wake up working on a ship somewhere. There was also a story about a prostitute name Rose in the brothel upstairs. She fell in love with one of her customers, and he asked her to run away with him and marry him. She said no because she was very fearful of her boss. The man supposedly asked if her could take her and marry her, but he was beaten by the owner badly. The lover cam back and asked Rose once again, she declined because she was scared. Supposedly, her lover beat her to death. I guess she is supposed to cry or scream at night. There has also been sightings of a man looking out the window. It was a boy taken in by the owner, and the boy worked there his entire life and died there.

Anyway, when we stayed there we didn’t hear any screaming. Or see anything. We even talked to the bartender, who said she had been working there for 4 years and has never had any paranormal experiences. I wouldn’t go anywhere without my boyfriend in that place, it felt like you were being watched everywhere you went. Nothing happened until I went to sleep. I got woke up to what felt like a hand behind my head on the bed leaning over me, and then a sudden breath in my ear. It startled me a little, but I just went back to sleep. My boyfriend doesn’t believe in paranormal stuff, so I didn’t want to wake him up.

I love the place! I will be returning. It’s also very cheap to stay there, I think we paid $45. I just hope it is bought by someone who actually opens the space up to the public in a greater way.

I am very interested in this place… so I think ill stop by and see what its like, and how I feel. I’m interested in ghost, and can’t wait to go there tonight..
