White Screamer

White Bluff, Tennessee

In this small town of White Bluff there’s a famous hollow where the White Screamer dwells. No one knows exactly what it is or its origin. It’s said to be a white mysty form that wails and cries and screams enough to make any person go insane, thus gaining its title of “The White Screamer”. It has also been noted that if one ventures to the spot where they might’ve seen the White Screamer, the grass will be burned away. Alledgedly, around the 1920’s a young man built his family of a wife and seven children a home and farm down in the hollow, and every single night they’d wake up to the sound of this awful crying and screaming. So, finally, after this young man has had enough, he grabs his shotgun and runs out into the night off to find whatever beast is making this awful noise. He climbs to the top of one of the surrounding hills to see if he can spot it, and then hears the sound of screaming… only it’s the voices of his family and children. By the time he can climb down this hill and get back to his house, he finds his whole family dead.. and pieces of their body thrown around on the ground and the floors of the house. You can still drive down into the hollow and see the foundation of the house and graves of the members.

Okay. I have lived in White Bluff all my life. Thats 18 years. I have heard cries && screams through out the night plenty of times. I have even seen some freaky stuff. I have seen some big things run through my back yard. My family has always had alot of animals && they would go crazy because something was in our woods at night. I’m not sure if this is because of the such called white screamer, but White Bluff is most deffinatly haunted by something strange. I’m not sure if it can hurt anybody or not, but it needs to be investigated or something!

Also, if you want the experince of being around this creature, I can tell you were you can camp which is just right where this whole thing started. If your on Hyw 70, turn by william james middle school onto Trace Creek Road. Keep going till you go down the big hill. Right as you get to the bottom of the hill, there will be a house on your left && a drive way on your right. Go to the drive way on your right. You will have to go through the creek && up a small hill. There is an old gate but just go over it. This is where i used to hunt during the day, but i wouldnt be caught dead there at night. Sweet dreams to who ever has the balls to go there && stay the night!!!

Well Crazy Bob, I’m pretty sure I grew up like 15 sec down the road from where it all took place. I’m also sure that the people up on the board grew up in White Bluff as well. I’m certain that something is in the woods of Trace Creek. Not trying to burst your bubble or anything, but there is a difference from living in White Bluff && living like right beside the spot it started out…

Hey guys I lived in WB all my life and trust me it is SO true. Fact is that it haunts a majority of Dickson County but is commonly sighted around the Jones Creek area. Not sure about the house but most Bluffians know not to do any of the stupid chants or call the beast out. Trust me you DON’T wanna mess with this beast.

looking for serious information only about the original sightings of the screamer. I am extremely interested in the exact location of the supposed cabin where the young man lost his wife and children. I am told that the foundation and chimney still stand there and that the graves of his family are located there. I am also interested in recent sightings if any and I will keep all information confidential. I am The second in comand of the Dickson County Ghost Hunters 07 team and we are very interested in trying to locate this creature if it indeed exists, and we will not harm it. We are not interested in destroying it only documenting it. I have heard many variations of stories including some more recent but please..only factual information is being asked for…please dont waste everyones time sending false info… If you wish to be spoken to by phone please leave a number where you may be reached at …all information will be kept very confidential and if you are interviewed we will give you the papers to sign for confidentiality.. Thanks for your time…Jeneen

I am a teenager, and I have lived my whole life in White Bluff, TN. Yes, I have always heard about the legend of the white screamer my whole life. I’ve even had one of my teachers tell our class the story of the white screamer on halloween. Just a few minutes ago i was out in our woods beside our field. I was walking with my jack russel dog, Junie. I was listening to music as I was walking down a hill to a creek, when I suddenly heard a wierd, loud scraping sound. I quickly took my earbuds out of my ears and turned my head towards the noise by instinct and saw something white blurring past on a clearing on a hill on the other side of the creek. It disappeared into the woods next to the clearing. I glanced at my dog and she had frozen too with her head inclined towards the noise, and I heard the noise again, confirming that I had heard it the first time. I went towards it but didn’t go very far, for I was in the woods when I wasn’t supposed to be. My dad is pretty strict on staying out of the woods without someone else. So I went into my room and got on the internet and looked up creature sightings in middle tennessee. All I found was something about a mothman and the white screamer, so I decided to follow that lead. I honestly feel quite silly about going to paranormal and haunting sites, but all I know is that I saw something today and I have no earthly idea what it was. It was huge and blindingly fast…it didn’t exactly scream but it made a very loud wierd noise…please don’t call me crazy…does anyone else know anything about what I witnessed???

Oh, and I live just off of Jones Creek road on Dawson Rd. I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. And also, I have been at my friends house and heard something screaming in the woods. She lived on Byrd Rd. Also, the other day my dad took his daily walk (he just had back surgery and he has to walk everyday to help it heal) and he came back telling me that he kept hearing a growling noise beside him in the woods, but he didn’t see anything. I just want some answers, please. Things have been happening around our house for years…

I’ve seen this “mystical creature” myself and is not so mystical as everyone believes, and yes she does stand about 9 foot tall and has a somewhat hooded cloak on it. The screams that she imits will drive you insane and almost in to a paralytic stage. You dont have to believe it if you dont want but i know what i saw and i know that its true.

I can’t say what people have seen but if you google “bobcat scream” you will get several audio clips. They sound just like a woman screaming. I have a bobcat that lives near my house. The first time I heard it it scared me to death!!!
