Wiccan Circle
This house is said to be very haunted. A total of eight people have died in one way or another in the house and they are all thought to still reside there. It is said that one may experience faucets turning on and off, coasters flipping over, and footsteps throughout the house. There have also been reports of the appearance of a glowing cross. Others have alleged to be held to the bed and shoved down the stairs. Beneath the carpet in the basement, there is reportedly a Wiccan circle carved into the wood.

You’re right, Henderson Castle is NOT torn down and I investigated there last night. It is active, but it is not open for public investigations at this time. There was a special event there for Halloween with an overnight investigation. Southern Michigan Paranormals have evidence posted on their website from previous investigations there and will be posting last nights as soon as its available. Feel free to contact me there. Denise

I went to college at WMU, there are a lot of houses that are over 100 years old. I do know what ashes of one of the former presidents of the university is inturd in the mian building, east hall, over looking kalamazoo. Friends have told me many stories about things that they have experienced living in those old houses. I cannot prove their stories, but I have had my own experiences in another apartment complex off of kendall ave. One two different nights I had the over powering feeling that someone was watching me. On top of that, when that feeling was persent, I saw shadows moving. not like trafic lights or people walking by outside, I cannot really explain it. Definetly ghost present in kalamazoo.

My wife and I and two very young daughters rented a house on Fairview Ave around 2000-01. The first thing we should have noticed was that our dog absolutley did not like going into that house when we first moved in.
After approximately 2 mos. the first incident came when my wife was in the basement laundry room ( a big oversized utility room with high ceilings for a basement) and in a loud whisper someone (thing) had said her name. She screamed and came running to me upstairs like an olympic track star and told me what had happened. Of course I shrugged it off…so far.
Going down the basement stairs from the kitchen, there was a cold spot midway to the bottom, not always but many times. I also many times-while not even thinking about anything abnormal- when going down those stairs, had the hair on the back of my neck raise and my entire body would go into goosebumps as if there was a presence right there with me, yet could not explain. Again not making any abnormal connection.
A few days after my wife’s experience, my daughter’s (age 3 and 1) and I were home and the youngest was sleeping. My 3 yr. old was with me playing in the upstairs attic area where it had been drywalled and carpeted and was nice for a play area. At the top of the steep narrow staircase to the upstairs there were bannisters on each side to where you could place a child gate that would be LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for a 3 yr old to remove. The spindles of the bannisters were only 3 inches apart so it was very safe while I worked on a window in the same room.
Suddenly I hear the sound of a small body tumbling down those stairs!!!
As I turn, there lay flat at the top of the steps was the child gate!! I am telling you here and now THIS could not happen!! There was not an inkling of sound of the gate being removed from where I had set it up, and there would HAVE to be because of its mechanism.
I scaled the stairway in a split second down to my 3 yr old who lay at the bottom of the staircase. I made sure nothing was broken and checked her entire body and she fortunately only had a few abrasions from the tumble. I picked her up and cradled her in my arms and made sure she was okay and not too much in a daze from what happened. She wanted to go and make sure her baby sister was okay, which she was…sleeping in her crib.
I asked my daughter once I knew everything was okay what had happened?
She said “that little boy pushed me…”
There was no one in that room but her and I.
In the basement “normal” area where it was finished off and drywalled, in the center of the ceiling started a black spot about the size of a softball. I checked all of the pipes and drainage for leaks, there were none. Within two weeks the black spot had grown to the size of a large kitchen table. It was black mold.
Finally the incident that opened my eyes, and took us to a hotel for the night including the dog.
My wife and kids had gone to bed and I was up late watching TV when I heard my wife say something. I went to the bedroom and to ask her what she wanted. She was sleeping.
Ten minutes later I hear a voice again and thought it was her. So I get cranky and I’m thinking what the hey!? I go to the bedroom and she’s sound asleep. -Sound asleep.-
There go the goosebumps.
I went back to watch TV and within 30 seconds, the voice again. Not discernable but a woman’s voice.
I get up -KNOWING- my wife is toying with me, start toward the bedroom when I’m lightly pushed, not shoved, by what felt like someone using two fingers. Like someone trying to get your attention. How the heck did she get out here without me seeing? I’m thinking my wife of course, I turn around and NOPE, there’s nobody there and then a voice again -from no certain direction, I just heard it- that sounded like “no, it’s not you”.
TIME TO GO!!!
What that voice meant I do not know, maybe a woman searching for her man…your call is as good as mine.
There are a few other things, including the people who moved in after we got thee heck out, but this is too long as it is.
Hope you enjoyed it…It’s true and will tell my kids about it in a few more years when they’re older.

I forgot to mention in my “experience” that a friend of a friend of my wife when she heard about this, did a bit of research on this house and apparently years ago, a man had murdered his wife and children there and had then turned the gun on himself. I haven’t verified this personally but will follow up soon.

@jessica
yeah it does. you obviously have a hihg schooler’s understanding of the religion. a circle is used in a lot of different wiccan rituals, some of which purportedly quite dangerous, if they get out of hand.
