At this old fountain, witchcraft was practiced very regularly. Many dogs and cats were murdered during sacrifices; their howls and meows are still heard today. Also heard are the screams of cries of the murdered and of the virgins that were brutally raped.

  1. This story depicts nothing but an awful stereotype about witches. The term “witch” is a broad term. Rituals & traditions vary depending on what tradition a witch happens to follow. I happen to be a witch, a mom, and a wife and I can assure u that I’ve never sacraficed any animal or human…or plant for that matter. Most witches focus on POSITIVE energy and surrounding themselves with positve things and people. I also want to add that I do not have a wart on my nose, and am unable to fly with a broomstick.

For sometime now, there has been an ongoing debate ; one said states that witches are evil, wicked, devilish creatures that should simply be distroyed… the other states that witches are too often painted in a poor light and that the stereotypes of wicked witches and ghoulish green women only serves to further darken the “true” nature of witchcraft. Personally, I would choose to believe that there is good and evil in all of us, that these incidents could and most likely have happened, that there is an undenyable darkness associated in the concept of an inner attainable power…. so Rachel, as much as you would like to think all witches are good, and as much as i wish all people are good, the simple truth remains, these things do happen… and this story; however improbable, is possible

  21. Don’t be too hard on the kids “playing witch”. I first began learning to practice Wicca as a teenager, as do many other witches. I was one of the lucky ones though, and had a great older woman as a mentor and coven leader/high priestess and didn’t have to stumble around trying to teach myself.

    For those who don’t know, Wicca is the practice of worshiping nature and the elementals (fire, water, earth and wind) and celebrating the connection between all things, living, inanimate and spiritual…well that’s the watered-down explanation. Some covens/witches practice magic (I do, in a limited way) and some do not…definitely not recommended for beginners with no mentor and it can be dangerous.

    How do you know if you’re Wiccan? It’s a choice based on your beliefs. I was born into a Christian family but the teachings of the Bible never sat very well with me so I began to explore other religions and belief systems. I guess you could say I “converted” similar to the way a Protestant converts to Catholicism.

    As for the Witches Den…might be true, never been there. All I can say is not all witches are good, any more than all members of any other group of people are good or evil. In the end though, that saying “What goes around comes around” is very true. In India they call it Karma. Christians say you reap what you sow. Many Wiccans even say that anything you do, good or bad, comes back on you three-fold…something to remember.

  22. Okay a little fact here. There are cultures out there, some still today, that sacrifice animals. And there were cultures in the past that even sacrificed people. So the possibility of it happening is there. Even the likelihood is there. But lets face it, the actual probability is a lot less likely.

    As far as the witch thing, I kind of agree with Joshua. As possible as it is for someone to be “good,� it is just as possible to be “bad,� no matter what their beliefs are. You tell me that as a mother, right now I’ve never physically hurt someone in my entire life, but if something / someone just horrible enough came along and harmed my daughter I wouldn’t in the slightest consider taking justice into my own hands. Even though I’ve known all my life it is wrong, and my belief to harm another person is unforgiving. Don’t get me wrong. I believe everyone has a right to believe or disbelieve whatever they like. But I’m asking kindly that we all agree to disagree when it comes to that part.

  33. The origin of the stereotype of a witch as evil, ugly, etc. is from ancient times when a woman might know some homemade cures for sicknesses & what not. She may have done midwifery as well. As medicine became more organised (and MALE) these negative images were developed to discredit the women, who were essentially homeopathic healers.

    I must say, I am dissappointed with this site. There are no photographs, no specifics at all, really. For what I can tell the whole tale could be made up.

I emailed them and was told they would check it out then they wrote me back saying no one ever heard about such a place in the area… the sites have more information then what you can find anywhere else on the internet and more ghost photos then you can shake a stick at.
