I've seen what "people" will do in the name of their "god". Whether it be God the Father or god the almighty dollar. People will use any excuse to do what they want and get what they want. I don't need to use God as an excuse or to blame Him for whatever I may do. I choose to do the things I do. I must say I agree with you, Carina. Religion has been and will continue to be used as a tool of/for hate. However, "true" religion is one of love and forgiveness. Sadly we don't see enough of either of these anymore.

You can believe what you want, but I have seen what man will do- in the name of their God,There isn't anything christian in it. I have also seen these same 'wonderful'(said as sarcastic as possible) purveyors of the word will bend what is written to suit their own mindless desires. These are likely to be same that can't accept change and fear anything different and will use the bible as a weapon to rid the universe of its presence instead of living as a christian would. Think about it- how many times has religion been used as a tool of hate?

First, God gave us free will; therefore, if a person chooses to be a witch, Wiccan, or Christian, it is their right of choice. Second, the current Old Testament is translated from the Jew’s Tanakh. The Tanakh contains the Torah, which is the same as the first five books of the Bible, The Prophets, and the Writings. These three sections make up what we call the Old Testament of Christianity. Third, the first church was comprised of Jews and Gentiles (non-Jews). Fourth, many things are misunderstood, because someone has studied the Bible and translated it, and has given their interpretation of what transpired. For example, the witch of En Dor, whom king Saul went to see, held a séance for the king. The goal of this séance was to bring the Prophet Samuel's spirit back from Paradise. This she accomplished, but in doing so, she realized king Saul was making the request and feared for her life. The witch or medium of En Dor feared for her life; because Saul had run the mediums and spiritists out of Israel a 2 Samuel 28:3-25. Furthermore, as with all religions, the Christian walk is one of faith. I choose to believe that the Jesus is the Word made flesh and that he dwelt among man. I choose to believe that every word in the Bible is true. However, the interpretation of the Hebrew word Chasaph was translated to mean witch, but in Hebrew it means poisoner. There is often a lot lost in translations; that is why we are told, as Christians, to "Be diligent to present yourself approved of God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing (understanding) the word of truth” 2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV. In other words, buy a concordance and study the translated words of the Bible in order to understand its true meaning. Much is lost in translations.
As far as voodoo being as old as Christianity, you are wrong it is older. Christianity began with Christ; voodoo was already being practiced before this time.
On another note, Carina, for you personally, if you ever truly experience the presence of God, you will know without any doubt that God is real and what you thought you knew is nothing. I know that there are many false teachers of Christianity and they use religion as a disguise to receive money from people that are truly seeking God; however, this is present in all religions, not just Christianity. I do believe in the power of prayer. Again, prayer is an act of faith. Please understand that the original scriptures are written in Greek, Hebrew, and Chaldean, which is Father Abraham’s original language. Nevertheless, I understand your point of view about the fact that the men that interpreted the Bible may have gotten it wrong. However, God made provision for that possibility in 2 Timothy 2:15. My question to you is this, why would there be provision in the Bible for the possibility of misinterpretation, if the being that was actually giving the words of biblical scriptures to man was not the Holy Spirit himself? Those of us in Christianity are taught, at some point in during the walk, that the Holy Spirit inspired the Bible. This means that the original biblical texts were not just pulled out of thin air, but the men that wrote the scriptures were guided by the Holy Spirit to do so. Could it be that God being omniscient knew that the true meaning of the words would be lost in translation? Once again, you need to realize that the original biblical texts were not written in English, but Greek, Hebrew, and Chaldean. Keep asking the questions and eventually you will find what you seek.

Wild Wiccan- read all the way back, we have talked about where the place is, and that area will always have strange people there who are runaways, the weirdos are either practicing voodoo which is as old as christianity, or santa ria, the latter I will give you as weird. and pettypetty- your name says it all, the bible as we know it, is an interpretation by mortal man which means there is a good chance that they had no frikken clue.
